RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
Just got back from an excellent weekend at Long Marston. Special thanks to Dick Spreadbury for getting me airborne with the kind loan of his transmitter. Loads of flying and the weather much better than anticipated. Impressive flying by Dave W and Steve, with their Cougar pairing, not easy to do. Jason, as usual had the throttle pinned on his Bandit, Shame Steve Elias didn't fly his Ultra Bandit today, a hangover is a poor excuse!! John

RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
Saturday, the weather was much better than forecast. The wind was virtually calm and no rain. Even the sun shone. Not the best turnout,so loads of relaxing flying for those that wanted it. Looking forward to today. Blue skies at the moment and forecast good for a change. John

RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
It looks like I won't be coming. I was flying my T33 yesterday when it did an uncommanded pitch up. I quickly landed it and flew my Comp-Arf Yak which promptly had about 7-8 uncommanded pitch ups in a single circuit. Looks like the elevator pot has gone in my 14 MZ Transmitter. I can't get it to Ripmax until Monday. Very disappointed as I was really looking forward to this one. My luck has got to change at some point, so far this year I've had a broken leg/knee, a brand new Jaguar written off, my van blew up, house boiler packed in,etc, etc!! I don't suppose anyone going has a spare 14MZ I could use for the weekend? John

RE: Feibao T-33 build
K.O. Is correct regarding the issues with the gear and brakes. You can order a new T33, now ,with the electric gear option. I believe it is about £60 more. The air system works fine though, unlike on the 1/7th F15 which I also have. You will need to change the bearings in the wheels. They will break up after a few flights. I use sintered bronze bushes. RE: Hydraulic kit from Hobby King anyone use these
It's a UMS product. I have used several successfully and have just completed a conversion on my 1/7th scale, Twin engined Fei Bao F15E. It knows when to stop when the controller senses the increased electrical load (adjustable), when it reaches the end of the travel. John

RE: Multilight Promgramming HELP!
Mark, I've got the same unit as yourself. I have it wired very simply. I have a separate 7.2v battery and an on/off switch. Some of the outputs are strobes and some are permanently on, so you solder the respective lights as appropriate. I do not use the two receiver output leads at all, but use the switch. John

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
A lot of truth in what has been said in the later threads. I now have 6 flights on mine. I lost the nose wheel on the second flight. I have bolts with nuts now keeping the wheels on and have changed the wheel bearings to sintered bronze after the originals disintegrated. Although my undercarriage (twist and turn) works fine on the stand, it will not budge in flight and I am presently converting to hydraulic. I am flying with the CG at 240 mm behind the leading edge and I feel it would fly better if I move it slightly forward. My wing mounting bolts have needed tightening and the stabs were aligned at different heights and needed the formers removing, and remaking with the stabs mounted correctly. On a positive it fly's and lands fine. John

RE: Help with air in fuel issues
Over the years I have encountered tiny air bubbles in the fuel line.the first time was on a CARF Lightning and was due to too many restrictions in the fuel system. The second time was on my L39 which had had many flawless flights and suddenly had minute air bubbles in the system. It turned out to be a batch of contaminated fuel.I changed the fuel and the problem went away. The fuel had a slight opaque look and had developed a fungicide. John

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
Hi Mick, I'm in the garden now playing with it. If you hold your hand against the gear while trying to retract it there is not much force required to jam it. I'll see how I go on Sunday and if no good it looks like I will have to go hydraulics. The wheel bearings only lasted two flights!! just like the T33, so I have just changed them to Sintered Bronze and have used a nut and bolt, as well as the grub screw, for the axle. I am not using the centre tank (not installed), in an effort to keep the rotation speed down. Mick needs it he's got two 160's for grunt. Interesting that no one has come forward saying that theirs works on air, John

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
Shaz, you may make yours work. Mine work fine on the ground but not in the air. The model is traveling at about 60-70mph before getting elevator authority and getting airborne. This is due to the fact that it sits nose down and the weight on it,( be careful not to pull off too soon and getting in a pilot induced occillation.). I am thinking that the gear is not man enough to twist and retract forward against the airflow. I have now replaced the nose wheel that flew off on its second flight ( its only held on by a grub screw and my axle now is a nut and bolt). I will attempt to fly again on Sunday and I will get airborne then slow it down and see if the gear will then work. Here is a video of the maiden. It's very poor camera work, and I am just flying circuits slow because the gear is stuck down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Bt1UhJSvc&feature=youtube_gdata_player John

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
Extra300. In the first picture you can see some ply reinforcing to help distribute the loads. The second picture shows the ply block which is molded so that when the gear is down it pushes into it and stops it shimming about. Hope this helps. I'd still like to hear from anyone that has made the twist and turn gear work using air. John

Extra300 Yes, the latest undercarriage only supports it on one side so I've made my own block for added security. Mario, I've no problem with static. John

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
It's FB. My U/C is the upgraded, with an aluminum shoulder to give more support to the mains. I also added a ply support, as recommended else where by Mick Burrell. I have used the standard exhausts and added bell mouths, and have not used the bypass because of the difficulty in getting it to fit. The nose is detachable and I am using S-bus with powerbox SRS. RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
I maidened my Japanese coloured F15E, at Wroughton, yesterday. CG set at 240mm behind the leading edge, it is powered by two P120 engines and I was carrying fuel in the saddle tanks only (6lts). The model weighed in at 24.5kgs dry so is going through the mandatory large model scheme. It flew very easily and required no trimming. Landing was also very easy. The only problem was I could not retract the undercarriage. It works fine static. Has anyone had success with the twist and turn undercarriage using air? 2nd flight the nose wheel came off after lift off but I managed to land her without damage. John

RE: Jetlegend Mig 29 Fulcrum
Hi Carl, I had to lower the back of the engine mounting rail so that it was held under the rear aluminum mounting brackets. This way it lined up with the exhaust. By the way, the stand your Mig is sitting on is the same as how I used to store mine which resulted in stress lines after a year or so. The strengthening that Ian has done looks a good idea to me.
