RE: Mad Dogs and Englishman...
I don't see a problem here, they built a concrete base to which its anchored and I didn't see anyone near the intake whilst it was running, at what I'm pretty sure was at or around ground idle. They must be reasonably competent to achieve what they did. Why,,,,now that's another question,,,,on the other hand why not! They use air starters on the aviation version Dave. John
ORIGINAL: Falcon32 Hi John If you want to quiet it down try here http://www.gashanger.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=75 A bit expensive and you will loose about 300 RPM but it does work. Falcon
Thanks Falcon, that's interesting and will maybe try this option if I don't have any luck with Lifer's suggestions, didn't know anyone was doing these here in the UK, I'm very envious of the availability and prices of RC stuff that are available to people in the States. Thanks also to Twin-flyer, but as I previously posted we are being really hard hit by customs and excise on buying anything from the States, a few years ago this was not a problem but now it is. As an example about a year ago I mail ordered a Aeroworks Prox .60-.90, after paying postage, import duty, vat, and, insult to injury handling charges it cost me around £240.00 thats around $375.00. Cheers, John

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
Thanks all for the replies. I think I will give Lifers suggestion a go, was thinking along the same theme myself, thought I would go to a local golf shop and see if they had any old stepped club shafts that I could use instead of copper tube. Yes I too like the sound of real engines but you've got to admit the DLE20 is a little over the top, its not me thats bothered just a little concerned about others that live near our flying site. I have seen the exhaust plugs that are on offer from Valley View, but anything I've imported from the States recently has been hit with very high import duty, value added tax, and handling charges for the privalage of paying the duty/tax, whilst when buying from China it sails through at no additional cost, very strange!. Cheers John

I ran my DLE20 for the first time yesterday, and it runs very well but the sound level is horrendous!. Does anyone have a solution?

RE: Hobby King turbine!
Well said Pete, And from me, the ludicrous suggestion that common people will be rushing out and flying cheepy $1000.00 jets around school yards etc is just plain silly. Has the advent of affordable 50cc + petrol engines been a problem?
ORIGINAL: Pepperpete I am lucky that I can financially afford this hobby but I know plenty of pilots who barely scrape by in life because they couldn't afford the 100k to go to some fancy university. And I'll tell you right now just because thier bank accounts are smaller than some of the internet commandos, that doesn't mean they couldn't fly or build circles around you. I think some of the people in here really need to get off thier high horses and start to understand that money does NOT equal ability or pride. What a terrible attitude about fellow human beings. It's sad. People are NOT the sum of thier bank accounts.
