Do you get to the Muswellbrook veterans meet Fiery? David Owen is usually there selling MP Jets, Schlossers and sundry others

RE: ENYA 180XGS gasoline/glow plug
VERY interested to hear how this engine goes. It's a bit big for my models but maybe down the track they will come out with smaller versions. Hooray for Enya! The Magnum .45 gasser still hasn't been sighted [:o]

RE: Lightest .20-.30 2 stroke *Updated*
I just went through the same exercise for a MEN 15 Trainer. I weighed up all my .25s (OS LA25, Enya 25SS, Fox .25, GMS .25, Thunder Tiger .28, Super Tigre .34) and the lightest was the OS LA, it was the most compact too. Ended up using the TT GP28.

Cox 8*4 props, the grey ones, would be getting a bit old too nowadays. I love them for .75 side ports but I wouldn't be game to put one onto a hot .15.

RE: Do all PAW .06's have sloppy bottom end conrod fit?
I agree, a look inside would be the thing to do, if only to alleviate fears. I would heat the case with a heat gun, then, like Greg K says, use a right sized washer in a vise to get the backplate off.

I'm building a 15 Trainer at the moment, just started covering. Pretty good kit all round. I have a Twin Trainer kit as well. There's an *bay seller in Australia who auctions a few every so often. At the moment he has 15 and 40 Trainer kits up for sale, plus some old Davey kits as well

RE: enya diesels no longer available
ORIGINAL: gmedson Hmmm - well, I don't know what the real story might be. The eBay seller did not communicate very well and said some things I wondered about when I emailed him. But I went ahead with the buy-it-now because I was protected by eBay. I got a full refund, so I have no substantial complaint. But it is possible that the message he says he got from Ken Enya is bogus - he quoted it rather than forwarded it. Maybe he dicided that the 137 bucks was not adequate to cover his cost in ordering from Enya. So he made up an excuse to cancel the sale? I don't know. I am guessing. However, I did see that his eBay offering for the 11CXDS continued after the cancellation of my order. So something is not quite right about how he conducts business. Or perhaps Enya Direct still has the RC version available but no longer the control-line version, which I ordered? Maybe the Enya direct site is kept up-to-date? Maybe it's not? In any case, a better deal is apparently available thru Singapore Hobbies. We'll see how this order turns out. Regards. -Gary
I recommend emailing EnyaDirect. It will get straight to Key Enya and you'll get a *very* polite reply quite quickly. He's very good to deal with.

RE: enya diesels no longer available
I don't think Modelflight are dealing Enyas any more. Probably too much competition from the Enya direct site. I have talked to other retailers about Enya, the consensus seems to be they are hard to sell because there isn't much innovation going on. Only us old farts are interested in them [:)] OS, Saito have new things coming out all the time. Thunder Tiger seems to have lost focus a bit; Magnum, SC, and ASP mostly copy OS but haven't really done anything new for a while. GMS made a splash but now seem to be coasting. Super Tigre haven't done anything new since moving to China.

RE: Good diesels to be found on E Bay?
ORIGINAL: maxtenet There are a lot of good choices out there old and new but God help you if don't think PAWs are the best on this forum. Max
[:)] Actually I don't think PAWs are the best. I've lost count of the number of fingernails busted or finger tips cut on the b%$#^ PAW R/C carbs! For me its the Irvine side-ports. But a PAW .15 would suit the OP best I reckon.

RE: Good diesels to be found on E Bay?
I've bought quite a few second hand diesels, both from eBay and other online sellers. I would say look for PAW 2.5 for c/l. You can get parts for them direct from PAW and they are generally a tough engine. The single ball-race engines seem to work best, at least for me. The critical thing with diesels though is the piston/liner fit, and buying a running diesel sight unseen can be a lottery. I have had one or two where the engine was worn (piston or liner oval) and the result is hard starting, not much power and lots of frustration. Once again buying parts from PAW is easy and generally cheap and quick delivery. The only other problem I have seen with PAWs is the R/C carb barrel being worn and leaking air. Nowadays I tend to look for new in box or unrun engines. They cost more but I know it will be run in properly.

Dynaflite Piece O'Cake. Flies well with a Cox 049, Thunder Tiger 07, OS 10FP. I haven't tried one with a Wasp .061 but I imagine it would be fine

RE: MP Jet Classic 0.40 Diesel
Great little engine the 0.6. My oldest one still sings on a 7*3. One time I had it on the front of a 42" Taibi Powerhouse. Flying into a small breeze at the club it was practically standing still. One of the sports flyers asked what the name of the model was. When I said "Powerhouse" they fell about laughing :-) Laughed a bit less though when I showed them the tiny medicine bottle with my fuel for the mornings flying.

RE: THE PUSHER MAN.........2009
ORIGINAL: combatpigg John, depending on how you design yours, you might get good efficiency from it and have it fly the way you like. The design I came up with is too boxy in the rear for a 4 inch speed prop to get a full gulp of air. I think a future design will have the rear firewall no wider than the engine. The elevon servos will have to sit one in front of the other to make room. I don't know how much that would effect throw geometry...but having a 4 inch prop hiding behind a 2 inch wide firewall is no good.
Mine has the engine on a short pylon. Because the 3 blader is only small it doesn't have to be up too high. The plan is to have two 7g servos for the ailerons next to each other poking out of the sides of the fuselage. Progress so far is the wing, centre section and pylon. Hope to get onto the fuse tonight. I scored a Cedric from Pete's Pilots to man the conning tower :-)

RE: THE PUSHER MAN.........2009
ORIGINAL: combatpigg I butchered a 150 pound deer with that knife! I hit a chunk of steel in one wing tip and put a nice divot in the blade [&o] That steel from Bangladesh might be soft, but it's easy to sharpen. For a survival knife, that's what you want, easy to sharpen. For balsa with fiberglass, I should have a razorsaw in the tool kit, but didn't. Anyway, I ran this plane today and it was an improvement, but also a disappointment. The .074 turns the 4.5X4 25,000 still 4 cycling and unloads it nicely to maybe 27-28,000....but the speed is not there. Maybe 80 mph down wind. It just isn't as efficient as it should be. Even with the .074, the launches were not a sure thing, many launches the plane just didn't get enough speed soon enough to stay airborne and sat there in the grass with the engine still running....waiting for me to get to it and throw it again. The ''Pusher Man'' has satisfied my need for uniqueness. The engine isn't getting enough cooling, either. I could fix that, but it just isn't worth it. Time to move on. I flew the Black Bat Outta Hell and the F-16 with Cyclon .061 power tonight, had a complete blast and forgot all about this ''Volkswagonish'' airplane. For my money, in this application, pushers suck. [>:]!
27-28000, revs per minute.... Potrzebie! That's going to make my little 32" canard pusher with all of a 1/2 cc diesel look a bit sick :-) If it does 20mph I'll be surprised [:)]
