A friend has both the classic flash and bandit. He said the biggest thing he noticed was that the bandit landed slower and easier than the flash.

RE: Futaba 14mz or spektrum dx18
The futaba 18mz is just WAY out of my price range. Also, 2 local guys that have them have both lost airplanes with them... A jet and a 50cc gasser. I'm looking for the best deal up to $1k range (if I can find a good deal on the 14mz). I like the touch screen on the 14mz and the flexibility. The 18dx has 4 more channels though and for a little less than what I can probably find the 14mz for. I like the dual antennae setup the 18dx transmitter incorporates. Realistically I could probably make due with a 12 channel and find one for about 1/2 what these radios cost. That would probably be the smarter way to go. With hitec putting out the touch screen I'm surprised more radio manufacturers haven't followed. A nice 12 channel in the 5-600 range would be a good seller.

Futaba 14mz or spektrum dx18
I'm using the hitec aurora 9 which has been a pretty good radio. After 1 of the updates though, I lost my shockjet so I'm not really wanting to risk another jet to hitec. Several people had range issues with the 2.1? update, it was part my fault as I didn't range check after doing the update. I'm on 2.2 now which seems to have cleared up the range issues. Still fighting trust issues so I'm considering a new radio to put into my jet. I guess the choice is between the futaba 14mz and the spektrum dx18. I'm hoping to find the 14mz in about the same price range as the dx18 if not the dx18 definately has the price advantage. Has anyone used the dx18 for comparison? Thanks

RE: Black Horse Models - Edge 540 V3
Just looked at the hobby people site. If you're going to pay that much for a 50cc I'd go with a company better known for their quality and performance like 3dhobbyshop, pilot, pau, aero works etc.... Im not sure if any of them offer the edge though. You can't go wrong with the 3dhobbyshop 50cc size slick!!! http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php/edge-540-v3-55cc-arf-90.html. $649.99

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
ORIGINAL: Modellbau USA I am back in the hotel know and since I have kept you guys waiting for a bit I wanted to show you the new sport Scheme and also the mods of the new V3.  Like I mentioned before the New V3 Tornado is heavly modified. Please see pictures below for the changes.  One thing that you can not see from the pictures is, Carbon reinforcment in the nose and engine mount area in the fuselage and also the airplane has been lowered 1 1/2 inches.  So previous struts will not fit this airplane.  We have designed new trailing link struts better made for grass operations.  The struts wheels and brakes come with our Red Jet Series retracts. We are taking pre-orders for the airplane NOW if you want to be put on the list please contact us with your full details Name, number, email address and mailing address to  orders@modellbauusa.com The final price for the airplane is $469.00 this includes Composite Fuel Tank, Turbine Mount, Composite control horns, Cockpit deck and pilot, full hardware.  This model is built to handle the New Rabbit 100, King Tech K110 and the Jet Cat P100.
Does the v3 come with the retracts installed like the v2?

RE: FAA Decision Looms on Model Aircraft Regulations
ORIGINAL: GerKonig
ORIGINAL: flycatch What makes an RC model any different than a commercial UAV. It's called intent. A commercial UAV is built mainly for surveliance and a model RC vehicle is used for recreaction. However as we all no an RC model can and have been converted to the same role as a UAV. This IMO is what the FCC wants to control. I flew and manufactured aerial targets for the military and it would only take funding and off the shelf components to convert them into a flying bomb. This is the threat that our government faces and is attempting to prevent. It will only take one incident were a model airplane was invovled in a terrorist act to ban our hobby. Why do you think their attention is directed at turbine powered airframes.
Nonsense, they did not ban U-hauls after the Oklahoma bombing... Or general aviation after a guy deliberately flew his full size Piper into a IRS building... The big difference is that we fly with the model in sight, and have therefore a limited range, plus we have weight limits... My 3 cents. Gerry
Exactly! The only thing that makes our models even barely remotely possible to be used is the video link. Instead of regs/limitations on us put it on the video equipment. I'm sure that we're just on the beginning of a long list of items that they want to eliminate like guns, pitchforks, breathing etc...

RE: FAA Decision Looms on Model Aircraft Regulations
Realistically, using one of our models is a joke UNLESS you use fpv. Also, kind of an expensive way to go about it. Shoot, it'd be cheaper to buy a cessna 150, lol. If youve flown combat you have an idea of hard hard it is to actually hit something when youre trying. Even then, you'd need a Hemphill model to carry enough of anything to even blow up an outhouse. Seems like what they need to regulate is the fpv stuff..

RE: What makes a Jet Event really great ?
[:D] No dinner etc. The biggest deal was the response. That's alright. The problem is taken care of. Point was, a simple courteous "we considered it but couldnt make it work" would have probably been the end. Anyway, unsubscribing [:D]

RE: What makes a Jet Event really great ?
Of course it costs to put on an event. I didnt say there should be free admission did I? It would be nice if there was a 1 day admission for those that can't make the whole event. After all, the spectators can come for a 1 day price. If you have a grand to blow, a motor home and can take off 5 days for the event then the admission price is probably a good deal. But, like what was pointed out in the other thread, if you can afford a jet then.. Maybe you shouldn't be coming... From getting slammed from such a simple question, it seems to me that it's more about the $ than the comradery. The guys tried to get me to go to ms this year and I almost went but after all of this from the event organizer pretty much has convinced me that I'm not interested.. Just a simple curtious response could have won me over but that bus left a long time ago Btw. Thanks for the generous full price offer but after the 7 hour drive and only getting to fly for a few hours I'd have to pass [;)]

RE: What makes a Jet Event really great ?
$50 wouldn't be bad if your going to be there for 4 days and get to go to the dinner, get a shirt or... Some of us can't make it but 1 day, want to support the event and don't get to go to the dinner etc but it gets very expensive to come for just 1 day. A 1 day pass would be great and easy to do with arm bracelets for a reduced price . Biggest thing is that if someone asks a question about your event not to be a smart azz when you answer ( happened to me). I probably won't go to the event again

RE: Which radio?
It's been my experience that radio manufacturers are like used car dealers. They'll promise that there equipment is the best but if there's an issue they'll take no responsibility...
