RE: trouble starting new hyper 7
How are you priming it? I usually pop my finger over the exhaust and pull a couple of times on the starter. If you are still having trouble you can remove the air filter and put a few drops of fuel in the carb. This will turn the engine over and the vacuum will draw fuel down the pipe. If this doesn't work then check for air leaks as above

RE: Hyper 7 PBS
CNC knuckles for sure. It offers much more steering and will not break like the cast ones. Cheap on ebay too as the hyper 8 ones are a straight fit.

RE: Fast tough buggy
The toughest buggy is the Hyper 7, but its not the most raceworthy. That may fall to the Losi, but it won't be as tough and a little less forgiving to drive. Forget the Violotor as its a great big heavy barge of a buggy. From what Vnmsgt says the Castor kit would be worth it for the CVD's and shock towers alone. It would probably cost quite a bit to upgrade them on the RTR. There is no straight answer for you here. Toughest by far is the hyper, raciest is the Losi and the Castor may offer a reasonable balance and good specs (but i have never tried one) Good luck with your choice [:D]

RE: have u heard of this?
I don't recall the guy asking "What to buy?" He asked is the Storm CL-1 any good? Why do people feel the need to push what they have on everybody else? The CL-1 pro is a decent buggy. Not sure on the engine or radio as the one I played with had an LRP engine and JR radio. I remember being quite impressed. Mind you it was a while ago now. I think for the money and if you can get spares and you like it, you will be OK with that buggy.

RE: new buggy
The MP9 is overpriced period (full stop). The Xray and mugen offer much better value for money. I'm with Echelon on this one.

RE: How is the Hyper7 TQ black edition .21????
I'm fairly sure you can swap out the cylinder. You certainly could in the older hyper engines. Its a good buggy and the ONLY sensible choice at that money. They have been around for a while but still cut it at anything other than the top level. They are also incredibly tough and rugged. PS the 8 port is considerably faster, especially at top end. The bottom end is a little lacking compared with more expensive engines but you would have to spend double the money to get a better all round engine. If you are used to 2 needle carbs tho, don't mess with the mid speed needle.
ORIGINAL: voicofreason No, I don't have thick hands. I think I'm just running the engine rich still. It's strange. I've got the low speed needle turned ALL the way in. Yikes! But the high-speed needle seems to have a little more leaning to go. Hmmmm...
Oh dear! Put the LSN back to somewhere near factory and tune the HSN first. Once you're happy then tune the LSN. I'm suprised it idles

ACE DS1015 or Sanwa ERG-VZ. you will never need anything more than one of these and it will transform your buggy.

As long as its under 300 and you have smoke you OK. Like said above just use temps as a guide and tune for performance, sound and smoke.

RE: NEW BUGGY
I voted X-ray because i only had one choice. I'd equally have the Mugen though. I think both of these are slightly better than the RC8 in terms of quality. Performance wise they are probably indistinguishable.

RE: first chance to run my hyper 7, general newbie advice appreciated
If it does it continuously look to replace the one-way bearing. They are notorous for this kind of thing which is why 80% people on here use a starter box. With care and looking after though pull starts and roto starts can be OK.

RE: what buggy to get
The Hyper 7 will be a LOT more durable. Infact the hyper is about the most durable buggy available. Spares at your LHS depends on what they stock i'm afraid, but go and type hyper 7 in ebay, then do the same with XT2 and I think you'll get your answer. I would say all buggies are the same to work on, as they all follow the same basic design.

RE: what buggy to get
ORIGINAL: INTEGRA the 8ight is a race maching...the XT2 is a rtr turd imo......there's nothing remotely close you could compare the 2 on.
I'm inclined to agree. The best buggy for that money i reckon is the hyper 7. you'd still have some change for a few upgrades out of $350 too, such as a receiver pack, tyres or put some money towards a decent steering servo.

I don't think you would be dissapointed. You linked to the FT kit. Is it the same your buddy has? The FT kit would be a better buy than a standard RC8.

RE: Is my engine a Pro 21 Turbo
There appears to be some confusion over the term Turbo here. K B is pointing to a turbo plug engine, which in most terms IS what a turbo engine is reffered to. In this case though the hobao engines refer to a turbo engine as one fitted with a little fan on the crankshaft. This fan disperses fuel more efficiently for combustion. So to answer you question Bry, yes it is a hyper .21 turbo, but it is not a turbo plugged engine. Hope that clears it up

RE: Need to buy some replacement parts - advice please
The turbo fan is something different. the turbo fan acts to disperse fuel more efficiently thereby giving more efficient combustion. the boost line essentially takes crankcase pressure and uses this to force fuel in through the carb (In a similar way to a turbo or supercharger without fans etc) Both work OK but will never give any real gains. The turbo fan gains are cancelled out by drag on the crank and the boost line only really irons out flatspots. The boost line origially came on the Hyper 8 port pro to give it a little more bottom end on a quite peaky engine. Hope this answers some of your questions

RE: first chance to run my hyper 7, general newbie advice appreciated
Nitro fuel is fine to flush with yes. As for bearings, pop them out and clean them when they are dirty, but they are sealed and for the most part disposable items. When you get play or poor runnig discard and replace. The dirty bit goes for most of the buggy. The more you clean grit off, the longer lasting your moving parts will be.

RE: Best Buggies to buy
The best kits are the Mugen and X-ray, followed by the Kyosho then comes the 8ight, hyper and RC8 and then comes everything else. Mugen and xray have top quality (as do kyosho but at way more expense), the 8ight hyper and RC8 are very good technical buggies but don't quite get there on quality, still as fast as the others though. Engines take your pick from novarossi, Axe Rossi, RB, GRP or a V-spec.

RE: Buggy choice
The best RTR combos on the market are the RC8RS RTR, the Losi 8ight RTR and the HoBao hyper 8.5 BRCA edition, which comes with a starter box and a reasonable steering servo as standard. These 3 represent the serious end of the RTR market. The BRCA is the one to go for if you want to race at a local club as its the only one with a .21 engine. As RTRs go all 3 have reasonable engines, with only the Losi having a 2.4ghz radio.

RE: Buggy choice
How much do you want to spend? The best way to get a good buggy in this game is to get a pro kit, select a good engine and buy a decent radio all seperately. the pro kit of any of those buggies will do. Just remember though, its mostly about driving. Mind you a good pro kit should be running long after your mates have retired with broken parts [;)]. You really only have to watch out for the guy with the Losi, as the rex-x is a cheaper buggy with a not so hot engine and the 2-speed won't help at all off road.
