RE: what tmaxx to get
I've got every version of the Tmaxx, The 3.3 is by far the worse. If you must get a Tmaxx get a 2.5 or a 2.5r. Even better, if you don't care about reverse, which most people take off anyway, get a Team Losi aftershock. Less money. Or if money is no object, get an LST2

RE: Where to buy???
Which Tmaxx do you have? WHen you go to proline's website, scroll down and look for the application chart. A lot of their bodies are listed to work on Maxx series trucks. However, that is a referance to the original Tmaxx and Emaxx trucks. If you have a 3.3 Maxx, very few bodies will fit. The best one that they have for the 3.3 Maxx is the desert Rat.

RE: Engine Problems...
First thing first, I've had a similar problem. Try a new glow plug. I've had one in, it glowed cherry red, but the engine would act up just the same. New glow plug fixed it. The other thing I noticed is that the copper piece that the high end needle screws into was comming loose. I tightened it. Worked like a champ. But if it's loose on yours, don't make the mistake I made. I tightened it, it came loose again, and when I went to fix it again, I stipped it out. Take the engine off, clean it, pull the high end need assembley off, clean it. Go to screw it in and use some thread lock so it doesn't come loose again. I didn't do that, and the carbs are not cheap. Good Luck

RE: Tranny/Gearing options
Your reverse issue could be your idle set too high. Lower it a bit and try again if you want to keep it. If you are wanting to go single speed, look for a center diff kit. I know there used to be a company that had a kit called the Mutant Maxx which had a conversion for a center diff, but I'm not sure if it will work with the current Tmaxx.

GS Storm Engine
Hi everybody. I'm a monster truck racer, but I have recently aqquired a GS Storm with a GS Storm .21. I'm having issues starting it, I changed out the glow plug, new fuel lines, and cleaned the engine inside and out. The compression is great on it too. Does anyone have any suggestions for figuring out what might be some good start out settings for the needles? Better yet, does anyone know what they are? Thanks

RE: Need Help With Shocks and Tuniing Issues On T-Maxx
Ok, I'm going to agree with everyone else on the lean issue because I've had it before as well, you may very well have an airl leak. Now for the shock issue. I have repeated this time and time again, I have installed stock Monster GT shocks and they work perfect. I kept the stock blue springs, two on the front, and two on the rear, and on the other four installed white traxxas duel rate springs. I also cut the fake piggybacks off of the monster Gt shocks to save a little bit of weight, as to weather that makes a differance, I don't know, but it keeps people from asking if the piggybacks are real. I haven't broken one yet after about a year of hard bashing. It's also a cheap upgrade you can do because you can buy eight shocks off of ebay for about twenty bucks and about seven bucks on the dual rate springs. For a little more info on shock tuning, there is a good "how to" in the March 2008 issue of Xtreme Rc Cars...Good Luck

RE: Which one
This is just a personal opinion based off of turing cars. I love sirio motors. I haven't raced in about four years, but I dropped one into my TC3 and it blistered the pavement. I really do like their engines, and I'm thinking about putting one on my Tmaxx as well, and even better, they don't seem to be as expensive as when Trinity imported them. I think Kysho imports them now, but I could be wrong. I know a lot of guys are going to push the RB on you, and I'm not going to say a bad thing about them because I have never used one. Their popularity has to say something about them though, everybody is installing the.

RE: Repair Costs
Well, if you didn't buy the vehicle there, I really don't blame them, and I know that sounds a little harsh, but let me speak from experiance. Hobbytown is like wallyworld. They don't care, it's a numbers game. I bought my first maxx from hobbytown. When I broke it, no one even knew how to help my. I went to the local hobby shop. They asked my why I bought it there, I told them to save fourty bucks. That fourty bucks isn't worth it, they charged me to fix my maxx. Later on down the road, I bought a second maxx from them. I broke it as well. They didn't charge me to fix it, they showed me how and didn't charge me. It's a good way to learn how to work on your RC. I spent a lot of money there, and don't live anywhere near there. But if I visit Raleigh NC, I still stop by to say hello, and still get a good deal from them. I even stopped by Hobbymasters one day while I was in town on a buisness meeting because I broke my Revo. I asked for the parts, had some chit chat since I hadn't seen them in a while. I explained that I broke my truck while jumping dirt piles at a construction site I had found. They said we're having a race tomorrow tomorrow, wanna come? Well it's friday and I won't have time to fix my revo because I'm going to be doing buisness all day...They said dont worry about it, I left my truck at noon, the owner met me at 730 an hour and a half after they close to give me my truck so I could race with them the next day. I hadn't been there in four years, hadn't spent a dime there in four years, but the took my buissness awar from Hobbytown, THAT is a hobby shop. Look for those kinds of shops. They are kind of like bar tenders, the more you spend and tip, the more freebies you get.

RE: Revo v. T Maxx ?
rcdudegermy10, I hope your truck doesn't break because you don't have anything traxxas on it. Here is my opinion for what it is worth. Are you on a budget? If you are the Tmaxx is the way to go because you can save about 50 bucks. Doesn't sound like a lot, but weather you have a Tmaxx or Revo stuff like the a arms are going to break. You could use that 50 bucks to do the RPM a arms like rcdudegermy10 has, they are pretty dang stout. Next, are you going to race or just bash around. If you are going to race then you really need to go Revo, it handles much better then the Tmaxx. Now as for what Beer=food and rcnitrohead have said, I haven't had that problem...Yet. I'm expecting it because I have every generation of Maxx, and by far, this seems to be the weekest one. I've broken less on my maxx with the TRX Pro .15 then I have on the current Maxx. So take budget into consideration, and what you can hop up on the Maxx Price vs. the Revo price. If you are lucky enough to have a good LHS (local hobby shop in case you are new to the sport) they will have one to let you try out. Good Luck

RE: Traxxas Custom Service
Learn from my mistake though. I broke a con rod in my TRX 3.3 after only a half gallon of 20% fuel. I have nine other vehicles so this is not my first time around the nitro block. I called them up, the said no problem, but we need you to send the motor back first. I had already replaced my cooling head with a Nova and like a dumb@@@ tossed the original one. Luckily I found a used one on ebay for 15 bucks. I sent it back to them, and two weeks later to my surprise, they didn't fix it...They sent me a brand new TRX 3.3. Sure I had to pay 20 bucks with shipping for the cooling head, but thats a lot less than a new engine, that was a lot more than I expected, I was hoping for a new con rod, piston, and sleeve but they skipped that and just sent me a new one. I was very happy with them. The only downside was due to myself for not keeping the old parts.

New Track Question
We are finally getting a good track in WNC starting march first. I talked to the guy who owns the property at the LHS yesterday. He says he has about fifteen people willing to be in the club for fourty bucks each session. ( one four month spring session and one four month summer session). I don't care it sounds like a heck of a deal to me so I can finally race monster trucks because I've always raced street class such as TC3, and he has purchased lap counting equipment and the whole nine yards. Here is my question, he says that a lot of the people are on a budget and will probably be running stock Tmaxx's with few mods. I have a fully decked out revo, and I also have a Tmaxx 3.3 with much less done to it. It's almost stock. I was wondering what the advantage would be, if there is one of putting on sway bars. The track has several different jumps, and two sets of doubles and a set of tripples, and it set for lack of a better term like a street course. Thanks for the input.

RE: .15 rebuild
Not hard at all. The sleeves pop right out of those, then just pull off your ez start and back plate to remove the rod from the crankshaft and pull the piston out. If you are running the classic Tmaxx with a pro 15, shop around online and see if you can find a Megatech M16 for it. I have on on one of my classic Tmaxx's, and was able to find another one last year for a friend of mine. Great Motors.

Tmaxx Engine Mount
Hi, I was rebuilding my TRX 3.3 and when I went to put it back on the truck, I stipped out one of the screw holes on the engine mount. I need to get a new one, I found stock ones on Ebay for as little as four bucks plus shipping. But I also looked at the Nova engine mount...20 bucks. I have one of their cooling heads which I'm more than happy with, but I'm wondering if the "heat sink" engine mount is worth it and does it have any effect on cooling the engine better? Thanks

RE: Noob?won't start, not getting fuel, left nitro in tank
I think pred192 put it best. I have a lot of experiance, I have several trucks and cars. I have the hardest time getting my Tmaxx to start sometimes. After waiting 15 min for the battery to charge, replacing glow plug and such, I always forget to open the dang fuel clip back up. Another problem you could have which I had with an old Monster GT, it had set for several months and would start for about second then shut off. I called a friend for any ideas. He said that there is a possiblity that fuel gelled up in the carb. To fix this I had to hold the throttle wide open and blow air through the fuel line that goes strait to the carb. I used a small air compressor, but you can just blow with your mouth, but get you some clean fuel line first. After a few seconds, I put everything back to gether, and presto, it fired right up and didn't skip a beat.

RE: t-maxx problems help
I have had a similar problem with my maxx before. It ran good, but made a pinging sound if that makes any sense. I read in an RC mag last month to put in a thicker gasket between the head and the crank case because I was using too high of a nitro content. I replaced it with a thicker gasket, and that seems to have solved that problem. I think it said it had something to do with unburned fuel. As for you leaking, do you have the copper gasket in that goes between the glow plug and the head?

RE: I need a RC education, any suggestions?
ASK, but before you take a reply to heart, look at what other people say about a reply. Here is a good example http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7008198/tm.htm . If you buy from a local hobby shop(lhs) make sure that they are going to help you without charging you. A mistake I made with my first Tmaxx. I bought it there, couldn't get the tuning right after breaking. They were more than willing to help me with my breaking, for a price, thats not right. So I learned a lot on my own, mostly from RC magazines. RC Car Action is probably the best one I have found. They also offer books on tuning as such, which I have purchased that helped me out a lot. So Think before you spend cash with a local hobby shop. I told mine to go do something very uncomfortable with themselves in the back of a VW. Now I have a good one which will do anything down to help you break it in and tune if for free. Look for those people to help you, shops like that keep the hobby going.

RE: whats best
I've got all three, and I would choose the LST2 over them. But that is kind of a different budget bracket. My suggestion would be to look at your budget. Of the three, the savage is my least favorite. Are you going to race or just bash? If you are going to race, go revo, if you are just going to bash around, go tmaxx. Keep in mind with the traxxas products, the don't seem seem to be as tough as they used to be. I would do a 15 foot jump with my first generation tmaxx before I would the latest 3.3. They just seem tougher. for example, my first generation pro .15 which has a megatech m16 engine is still running traxxas stock a arm. However, one of the first things I had to do to my tmaxx 3.3 is change to rpm a arms because I cracked the stocks ones so easy. Needless to say, as soon as I got my revo, I went RPM. Good Luck with your choice!!!

The Tmaxx superchargers seem to be getting a lot of attention. Now that I have yours :D, I would like some opinions on air filters. I'm going to need a new one soon do to various accidents without the body and about six gallons of fuel :)). Are the K&n's worth it? I did see where anyone mentioned this, if you have, sorry to repeat but your title says that you have a T-maxx .15. If that is true and it currently has the Pro .15 engine then you will also need to buy the conversion kit for the 3.3 throttle linkage. The Pro .15 is a rotary carb, while the Trx 3.3 has a slide carb and the linkages are totally different.

Make sure your fuel and exhaust lines comming out of the tank are clear, and make sure you don't have any dirt or mud clogging the tuned pipe. I have both a tmaxx and revo, and they both do the same thing from time to time. I'll kill a battery trying to get them to start. I walk away, cuss a bit while the battery is charging, then walk back to it an realize that I forgot to open the clip that lets the fuel go through :)). So make sure the fuel cuttoff is open too, goodluck
