RE: T-37
ORIGINAL: shadows2013 hows she sail?
With limited sail time so far, it's ok but downwind performance could be better. A number of things could be tried to improve it. I plan to make a bunch of rigging changes and see how she does. I haven't sailed both together but I think my 32" Nirvana II is faster. It is a good looking wooden boat though hanging on my wall, especially since I built it.[;)]

RE: T-37
I recently finished a T-37. I believe the web site said 10-12 hours avg. build time plus a couple of hours for the deck kit. It took me about 80 hours including paint, varnish, and ~15 hours for the deck kit. I guess I'm kinda slow but then I had almost no model building experience. I found that the best and easiest way to install the deck kit was to use thinner pins (not the plastic top thick ones) with needle nose pliers. It requires LOTS of pins.

RE: Victoria vs Nirvana Pro
ORIGINAL: DavidMC Both are builders kits...
The Victoria is definitely a builder kit. See http://www.acehobby.com/ace/PDF/Boat/5556Victoria.pdf IMO, the Nirvana is not a builder kit. Epoxy, CA, drill bit, hobby knife, sandpaper, and alcohol are not required. Much less assembly is necessary. See http://www.seacam.com.au/NirvanaManual.pdf

RE: RC multihulls?
ORIGINAL: Dick L. I would really like to know what their marketing person was thinking. Why fight the trend, when offering a "class" sized boat could provide a place for non-builders to go. Strange.
You could ask the boat designer, Will, who usually answers the 800 # given at the web site. Among other things, perhaps not everyone is as "class" conscious as you. [:)] Jack

I haven't read all the posts here, but haven't seen anything about the Tippecanoe T50 Trimaran kit. I believe somebody asked about kits early on. http://www.modelsailboat.com/tri.html Another description: http://www.rc-sailboat.com/m_19.asp?pro=16&c=&pn=T50+Tri+%2DRC+Trimaran+Kit

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
Stephen, I bought Lang's Nirvana II Race with the upgrade electronics. It included a Hitec HS-645MG sail servo and Hitec Zebra transmitter, receiver, and rudder servo. Zebra is apparently somewhat new and mainly supplied to RTS manufacturers. The transmitter requires only six AA batteries. That twelve month Hitec electronics warranty may be worth something too. I like a powerful sail servo and high wind sailing, but the stock Megatech servo may suit you fine. I'd like an even more powerful servo assuming the weight, size, power requirements, and price were reasonable. I want the sails to haul in when and where I want them without necessarily having to move the boat around. I suspect that would be more important when racing with a bunch of boats, although I'm not speaking from race experience. Jack

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
Dan, you may have already done this but I suggest you ask Steve Lang at http://sailrc.com/ about 2.4 GHZ for Nirvana. He optionally provides it with his RC Lasers. 2.4 GHZ capability would cost more than the Nirvana and it would depend on whether the receiver would fit in the boat. As I understand it from his website, the standard Nirvana radio has 18 different frequencies. Lang's optional AM Nirvana electronics upgrade package provides 36 frequencies. Perhaps installing the upgrade on some of your fleet would help with frequencies and maybe some of the servo and switch problems. Jack

TC , glad that tip helped. I just noticed the fraying problem a few days ago after about 15 hours of sailing, much in windy conditions. Jack

RE: Nirvana II Pro Or Sanibel?
ORIGINAL: mikeyb917 ... Now that the radios provided with the Nirvana II are FM, wouldn't they be better than the Hitec AM?
From my research, FM radios may have some technical advantage but there is nothing wrong with AM radios for sailing, at least ones with narrow band receivers that have been available for many years(don't know what old Nirvanas had). AM radios are supplied with many high end boats and are widely used. But the best radio is probably a 2.4 GHz like the Spectrum DX6.

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
Nirvana II sheet tip: I noticed the sheets were becoming frayed where they pass through the holes in the booms. The holes have sharp edges and it's probably just a matter of time before the sheets break. I sanded the hole edges and protected the lines with some tape where they pass through the holes.

RE: Nirvana II Pro Questions
If you don't want to hassle with installing an electronics upgrade, you could buy a Nirvana II-Race at http://sailrcnirvana.com/Nirvana_Store.html I have one and it performs well. Or they have an electronics upgrade package with installation instructions.

RE: nirvana II tips and tuning guide
The "nirvana II pro" designation sounds like one of the options available at http://sailrcnirvana.com/Nirvana_Store.html If so, the "Tips and Tricks" at http://sailrcnirvana.com/Nirvana_T_T.html should be available to you and might help. Putting a cut piece of spounge under the sheet hole you mentioned should absorb most water that may enter.
