RE: I'm back too! Slowly!!!!!
Sure will bro! I have a few little updates to do to it. Gotta add bolt holes for big blocks, and the very small blocks(SH07, Infinity 05) and make the linkage for slide carbs. The bike came with the thunder tiger 12, but i'm gonna put my spare SH18 in it. Just gotta trim the cooling head just a little to clear the frame.

I'm back too! Slowly!!!!!
Hey guys(and gals!)!!! I'm slowly coming back to life after a long line of work. For a minute there I didn't know if I had to learn this stuff all over. I usually popped in and out a few times. Just got done making a break-in stand and a camera mount(for on-board videos). Also added a few more models for my shelves! Here's a video of me breaking in my engine from my Ducati Nitro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ9NIO0_Jdg Well here is where I stand with some pics: It's good to be back!

Chain and Sprocket for TT Nitro and DX450
Does anyone know if the TT Ducati Nitro and the Duratrax DX450 use the same size chain? I have a supply of any length of chain for the TT Nitro. I am wanting to order the front and rear sprocket for the DX450 but need to make sure they both use the same size(pitch) chain. I am building a quad atv from scratch and want to make it as real as a 1:1 quad atv. But I can't start anything untill Tower Hobbies gets the stinking Savage ATV bodies!!!!!!!

RE: Help with ported engine
Like the old saying goes, "you never know untill you try". Same goes for tuning the engine. You will never learn how to tune if you just keep taking it to someone and have them tune it. Just remember, the cut on the piston skirt will always face towards the front of the engine.

RE: engine test stand
ORIGINAL: Mickstix JP Thats a sweet stand!! Did you also make the exhaut header or is that a standard item?? Looks killer either way! Nice job!!
Thanks bro. The header is from my TT Nitro Ducati motorcycle. Well actually the engine and header is from my motorcycle. I have just found out that a OS LA10 exhaust pipe fits on these small block side exhaust engines. Will try that next. I agree, a prop would be the easiest way of putting a load on the engine. That was the way I broke in my SH 12's. And then I wanted something so I could use the clutch so I built this stand. When using a prop, I did have to cover the head cause the temps would not get high enough for break-in.

RE: engine test stand
Now before I started making this stand, I did go to a hobby shop and buy a couple of engine mounts, fuel line, and what-nots to built a cheap stand. Anthing that will hold the engine will do just fine.

RE: engine test stand
Here is my Test/Break-In stand I just got finished: I have made several hubs for different spur gears. The engine mounts are fully adjustable. Just need to make mounts for big blocks and the smaller engines(SH07).

Kyosho HOR Single Sided Extended Swingarm
I have had this motorcycle for about 12 years now and never got all the parts to run it and throughout the years lost some parts. If I can find some replacement parts I plan on putting it back together. I just bought me a Venom bike and decided to make this bike into a custom bike. I will have to use the chain from the venom since it is longer. I just need to make the lower shock mount and bracket for rear fender. The first hole on the swingarm is the stock position. Here's some pics:

RE: Venom-Racing GPV-1 motorcycle
I'm thinking about getting one of these too! $149 with free shipping sounds too good to pass up on this RTR! I want to stretch the bike out by making an extended rear swingarm(out of aluminum stock) for this bike. That would be so cool. Of course I would have to take two chains and make one longer chain. Why a three channel remote? What does the 3rd channel do?

RE: DTX .18 Back plate
I have converted several pullstarts to bump starts without buying a new backplate. I always just tap some threads in the bushing on the backplate and use sealer and thread a bolt in the bushing. They never have leaked to this day.

RE: Anything you guys would like to see Himoto come out with?
I love them late models! What scale were those? 1/8? Were they 4wd? I would love to see some 2wd's sliding the rear end around the turns. That would be killer!

RE: new wanting to build a custom dragster
If ya got the tools and machines, you could build one from scratch. You would just need a few parts from RJSpeed. I think my custom build only cost about $70. Of course I had the tools and machines to make most of my parts. I did run it for a few minutes in a small remote area. It was a little squirly..... Never gave it all it has though. Need to find a bigger area to dial(engine tune) it in.

RE: engine start in reverse
Thanks for that great information Jim! That is very interesting stuff! Check this out Jim, this is what I was thinking(very hard to do sometimes!!!), of course everything would have to be bolted down securley, install degree wheel, take a dial indicator and find the degree when the port starts to open and see how many thousands(of an inch) the piston is from top dead center, then slowly turn in engine over untill the port is in closed position, get the degree on that, also and the measurement again on the piston from top dead center. And just reverse the whole thing. Wouldn't that work? Kinda like dialing in a cam on a 1:1 engine.... What ya think bro? I think the hardest part would be to "fill in" the port window to reshape it........ Of course I would never even attempt to try this on any of my so called good engines!!! I have numerous small(.05 Infinity) engines I could tinker with..

RE: engine start in reverse
ORIGINAL: SAVAGEJIM
ORIGINAL: jpilkinton I have always wondered this myself. Is it just the crankshaft air/fuel port window the only thing stopping it from running backwards? I was wondering if your could cut the window out a little more on the opposite side and build the other side up. Basically reverse the port window for reverse rotation. It would be interesting to see

RE: Who ran what 9/27/09
I have put my nitro hobby on hold for the moment. Life and work have put a strain on me. There are numerous new things I have yet tried out as far as my nitros, but I have to set them aside. I usually check in and out on here a few times a week just to see if anything is new. Not saying I'm getting out, just setting it aside. Just want to thank you guys for everything and thank you Eddie for everything. If the lord is willing, I will return........... Peace out guys!

RE: Carb Swapping
I swapped a slide carb from an SH18 to a SH12 that had a rotary crab and it worked like a charm. Just tune to the new carb specs. But you will probably have to make different adjustments since you using a different engine. But I would just tune it by ear so that the engine runs good and has plenty of smoke.

RE: VX .18 motor cleaning.
ORIGINAL: dakotanut I was wondering what to clean it with? What do yall use? Do I have to take the motor apart to clean and inspect it every so often or is that not necessary? What to look for if I do have to take it apart to clean it? I've run many tanks thru mine already and was just curious. Thanks.
If I don't need to tear the engine down, I just plug the carb, plug the exhaust, and make sure the glowplug is still in there and spray it down with WD40 and let it soak in and spray it down again and blow it off and wipe it dry.

RE: 9/11 Rememberance
I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the first word of it on the radio. I was at work, and my friend ran to his house and snatched up a tv and we watched. I was sick to my stomach after watching first hand of the attacks. It was like someone just squeezed my stomach. People were actually jumping to their death out of the towers. And when I first heard the song "Only Time" from the artist (I can't remember her name off hand), I was getting teary eyed. I still do when I hear the song because it reminds me of that day. It was a very, very sad day for america. But like the American Flag...... These Colors Don't Run.
