RE: Andrews Aeromaster, Sportmaster, Trainermaster...
Heres a link to the Sportmaster build I did a few years ago...Sadly life has gotten in the way and is still sitting in my garage. Still has not flown! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7750322/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

The top rib profile above is upside down...The ailerons are top hinged. Personally, I would stay with that configuration, works great! -Johnny-

RE: Stik size for 2 saitos
A Little Stik (48") would be perfect for the .40... The original Jensen size (I think its right around 60') would be the right size for the 100...Both are available through www.lazer-works.com

RE: Linkage Question
Sorry Mike but I just cant trust a glue joint alone without some kind of mechanical backup...Threading into the plastic inner rod, in my opinion, is a much safer option. Thank you daveopam for your input, you definitely know what I am talking about and did a good job explaining things -Johnny-

RE: Linkage Question
Personally, I would NOT go with option 2. I would go with a modified version of option 3. Use a length of 2-56 or 4-40 rod (whichever fits your application) that is threaded on the end. Cut it long enough to insert into the plastic tube beyond the unsupported area and simply thread it into the tube from the backside of the threads...I hope this makes sense! This way, you could even go with option 1 as long as the metal rod inside the tube extends beyond where the yellow enters the red tube.. -Johnny-

RE: Does it qualify for classic pattern now?
Ilikebipes The US was designed way before Tower started making their Kaos. Also, designer Jim Feldman used the same wing and basic fuselage layout as the original Bridi Kaos, enlarged it slightly (I believe about 10%) enlarged the tail area as well as obvious fuselage shape changes...The US was born. It had nothing to do with the Tower Kaos[8|] -Johnny-

RE: CG Sky Tiger fans
Looks like you got a great deal!.. From the pic you posted, I dont think you need to recover it, especially if you are new to RC.. .Set up properly, and with the help of some experienced old schoolers, I think you will do very well with this plane. The original version "Sky Tiger" has a flat bottom wing so it flys a lot like a trainer...The updated "Tiger II" has a semisymetrical airfoil and a longer tail moment...Both are excelent flying planes! I would hold off on the new covering job until your done getting some flight time (and perhaps some rough landings...) on her! -Johnny-

I might go just because they are having the swap shop again this year. Last year they didnt have it and I wasn't really very happy with the rest of the show. If you want to buy stuff for your electric park flyer or you want to buy a toy helicopter then this is the show for you! -Johnny-

I have used Lazer Works many times and have always been very happy with their service. As far as taking glue, Its not a bad idea to lightly sand off the charing but not absolutly necessary. I have used CA and white carpenters glue with no problems. -Johnny-

RE: What's the worst kit ever made?
I have been building kits since I was 7 years old...Now 45, I finished each and every one of them.....Except..."The worst kit ever produced"...Global Raven!....The thing was made from Balsa ply (not lite ply...big difference)...There was enough wood in the structure for 2 airplanes. I ended up so frustrated with it, I sold it, unfinished, for next to nothing at a club swapmeet The ones I have seen finished came out over 10 lbs and flew like bricks. Horrible kit! -Johnny-

Big Stik .20 or 4 Star .40?
I need a plane that I can use to keep in practice with. I'm a builder...Love to build, so what I have is a bunch of really nice planes that I'm too scared to fly!! I need a "beater" that I dont care a lot about that I can warm up my thumbs with. I have built and flown several 4 Stars over the years and am very familiar with they way they fly...I once built one start to finish, ready to fly in one weekend! Started on it Friday night, Had it framed up by saturday afternoon and covered it Sunday. I have never done a Big Stik .20 but I have built 4 BG .40's I still have one that my late father built hanging up in the shop! What can I say about a Stik?...They just fly great! I always shorten the 4 Star wing by one rib bay, this makes the wing span about 54" The Big Stik is 53 1/4" so they are very close in size. A GMS .47 will be the powerplant. Leaning towards the Stik...any comments??

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..
andboy This is why its important to read the instructions very carefully, re-read and then read them again. They are having you glue in the LOWER or bottom sheeting..The ribs will glue on top of this sheeting...Also I noticed that the answer to your question about how to position the spars is answered in the paragraph above your red box...Good luck! You picked a great kit -Johnny-
