RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
ORIGINAL: ovidiugm I heard about the boiling method when you put the wheel in boiling water for 10 minutes, but what's the oven method? Won't the plastic rim melt at that heat level?
I've only tried the oven method and it works great, preheat the oven to 300 put your tire on a cookie sheet and throw it in for 5 to 10 min keep and eye on it. The rubber pops right off and no the wheels don't melt, at least mine never have.

RE: Looking for an 80A brushless system, HELP!
The reason your having a hard time finding that Esc is because they stopped manufacturing that specific model. Hobbywing is replacing the Ezrun 80 and 150amp Esc's with there new Xerun 80 and 150amp models. Kershaw Designs will be selling them once he gets his hands on them, its a new design and they look pretty sweet. I have been wanting to buy the 150amp esc but got sick of waiting and bought a Mamba Monster instead.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Hey just wondering if any of you guys are thinking about converting your Storms to the new Blitz. I've been thinking about it for something new. Its a pretty quick conversion I think, all I would need is the extended chassis bumpers and body mounts and a new shell I think. If any of you guys have done this let me know what else is needed.

RE: ezrun brushless
ORIGINAL: wasting money What should these settings be? I just installed a 150 amp in my e-savage and don't want to risk ''breaking'' it.
Leave the punch and timing settings alone, and also set the lipo cell count manually because the esc does not see 3s.

RE: ezrun brushless
ORIGINAL: bhcvc To clear things up about the BEC: The 1/10 scale and smaller ESCs use Linear BECs (not switching). Only the 1/8 ESCs have switching BECs. jrock - what were your timing and punch settings on the ESC? Also, did you use the ''auto-detect'' feature for number of cells for the LVC or did you set it yourself? These are known sensitive issues with the EZRun 1/8 ESCs.
All settings were default and I had the cells count set manually to 5s, so I don't what happend. I also heard through the grapevine that Hobbywing is recalling all the Ezrun 80 and 150a Esc's and replacing them with the new Xerun version, again not 100% sure about this information.

RE: ezrun brushless
Well not to burst every bodies bubble but my 150 amp esc just burnt up on me. I had it in a savage xl brushless conversion with a revolver 9xl and running 5s 5000 mah Turnigy lipos with a 14 tooth pinion and 47 tooth spur. It lasted about a month and I don't know what happend. Everything ran cool especially the esc. I was out runnin it and everything was fine, the LVC went off so I put a fresh set of batts in and even before I hit the switch to turn it on sparks came out from the capacitors side and it was dead. No fans no lights no nothing, I'm pretty bummed. There is also a new version of the 80 and 150 amp Hobbywing Esc's coming out and I don't know if I should wait and pick one of them up, or just get an MMM.

RE: New Xerun 150a esc
Ahh just an FYI the 80 and 150amp Ezrun ESc's are sensored, they run sensored and sensorless motors. These ESC's are new, I'm just wondering when they are going to be available.

New Xerun 150a esc
Just came across this new Hobbywing Esc, I have no idea when it's going to be available and I think they're going to be replacing the versions that are out right now, and all the specs look the same as the current Ezrun 150a and 80a models.

RE: help!
ORIGINAL: rebuilder Is this the one you're looking at? If so i somehow dont believe that is a true 540 motor............scroll down.......look at the side pic of the motor, with those big fins taking up 2-3mm on each side that would make it about a 28mm dia. can.......which would make it a 380........i dont know, i have shyed away from this motor for this reason and went with Sidewinder/4600kv combos. They are only about 30-40 bucks more and they are high quality, with great performance. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ezrun-9T-brushless-Motor-system-60A-SL-v2-ESC-RC-CAR_W0QQitemZ200392587468QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2ea85438cc
The .5 turn motors in the Ezrun series are true 540 sized motors, like the 5.5,8.5,13.5 turn ect. The 9 turn is a 380 size motor.

Get the XL shoes off e bay, they are aluminum, last a long time and have good performance, and you can find them for a decent price. My 2 cents

RE: brushless problems HELP!!!
I actually had the same problem and tried the same thing you did and it was the ESC that has gone bad, I got it wet and smoked for a second so I took it out and dried it out, it seems to be working fine now but when I put some pressure on the motor it just hums. I tried the motor on another ESC and it works fine so it might be your ESC that's the prob.

RE: Turnigy Lipos from hobbycity
I also have a couple Turnigy batts, 3s 5000mah 20c and they are great, run them in my firestorm and my converted savage XL. I had to cut a bit of my firestorm tray out for them to fit but not a big deal, not quite sure about the slash, and yes the Astro Flight Blinky will work, that's what I use.

Astroflight Blinky??
Hi, I was thinking about getting the Astroflight Blinky balancer and was just wondering if it is compatible with the JST-XH balancing tabs. I have a couple Turnigy and Zippy batteries and they both have the jst-xh tabs. So if anybody can confirm this for me before I make the purchase I would appreciate it.

Yeah I also checked the pinion and it was nice and snug, hadn't moved at all, the motor shaft has a flat spot ground down on it and there were no signs of slipping.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Yeah it's blast, but its not putting all the power to the ground. For some reason when I go WOT form a stand still or at about 10 to 15mph it seems as though the motor just spins freely untill I let off a bit on the throttle and then it moves. I thought at first it was the slipper so I cranked it down all the way but that didn't solve the problem. It seems like the motor can't handle the initial hard start, only happens with the 3s lipo 2s is just fine.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Just thought I'd share a vid of my storm, running an Ezrun 60amp 8.5 turn 4000kv combo with a 3s 5000mah 20c Turnigy lipo. After this vid I tossed in my garmin gps and got a top speed of 49.8mph with stock gearing. The truck had been running for 10min before I even made the video and my temps were 155 for the motor,135 ESC and that's without a fan cause I burned it up, and the lipo was at a cool 98. Can't complain with a $100 brushless system...[:D] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbOijqAKHGw
