RE: Cheap Chinese Ebay ARFs - Whadaya Think?
To each his own. I tried the Cheap Chinese Ebay ARFs. I knew that there had been reported problems. I thought I could design my way around the problems and still come out ahead. After spending a expended amount of time building it I had the horror of watching it self destruct. They are not safe, someone will get hurt with one. I was very relieved when it hit the ground and all the pieces stopped moving.

RE: Building vs. not building
Brother, I can relate to what you are saying! And from personal experience, kits are cheaper than therapy. My wife would tell you that I get consumed with the build. I've started working out so I can carry the second card.
ORIGINAL: E-Gap I love the challange of building. Better than therapy I'm told. After 50 plus years of building planes and boats, I've found that its a great stress reliever but required me to carry a second credit card. In times past, I had Tower on my speed dial...back when their catalog had more kits and hard to find parts than now. Ray W.
RE: SIG Kits - status
If You have been to Sig you know they are haveing some problems. You also know if you have been doing bussiness with them for a while that they they are not the the same people with the same bussiness attitudes as before. When Mike left, (two weeks before the fly-in this spring) it left a major PR whole in the company. I do believe they are trying to get it together. They could start by being honest with us all about what is going on. As we are all aware, times are tough, especially in the hobby industry. I intend to try and be patient and continue to do bussiness with them. They have made some mistakes, but they are not gone, or are they done!

RE: Four Star .40 build Q's
On the Four Star 40 there is no reasion to have duel servos in the wing unless you just want to play with flaperons. Your just adding weight. As far as putting the servos in the tail goes, remember Four Stars build tail heavy anyway. I have had all three Sig Four Stars, loved every one. I add 1/2" to the rudder on the 40 with a strong 40 fly knife edge all day long. When You take out the dihedral in the wing it becomes less stable in knife edge not more stable. Add 1/2 " to the rudder maybe cut one bay on each side of the wing and just enjoy.
ORIGINAL: a2zrestoration Well ill be honest, Ive never been the best builder, been building crappy for years. But if you guys think it would be a bad idea to put the servos in the tail ill scratch that mod. how adual servos in the wing? I really apreciate you guys taken the time to help me out, Im really wanting This build to turn out better than my previous builds. They have in fact all flown, But covering is difficult, i just dont have patience.
http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmart.exe/MainMenuFV4.html?E+Sig On the Sig web site it says " First of course was impeccable flight performance, including the ability to perform any aerobatic whoop-dee-doo you can throw at it. Second, it had to be ultra-simple to build without looking like a "box with wing". Sooo you want to turn it into to a box with wings?

RE: What is a good beginner kit?
We might want to remember that the word "easy" is relative.
ORIGINAL: MinnFlyer
ORIGINAL: kenv56 I would like to do a build that will take quite a bit of time and that is not too easy. Is there any models that are challenging to build and easy to fly at the same time?
This is why I didn't recommend one of the "easy" kits like the Venture, LT-40, 4-Star, etc
RE: What is a good beginner kit?
I don't know if you can find one but the Four Star planes from Sig build great and fly great to. The 60 size is a easier build due to the fact it is all laser cut.  The fun 51 from Tower Hobbies is a good build and a great flyer to.

RE: VERY Annoyed with Tower Hobbies..
I have had verry good luck with Tower Hobbies. When I have had problems they have been honest and fair. I've been doing bussiness with them for over 13 years. I have at least five orders a year. My last order had some minor shipping damage, when I informed Tower they just said "We will arrange to have it picked up". A very satisfied customer!
