The problem is, I have the atomic diffs so I think they are different.... Plus I tore the rear diff apart so I am converting to Steel duratrax ones lol.

Word to the wise, Atomic Diffs aren't good with the Vendetta
Now, keep in mind I was running the diffs at 1/4 turn out but I wasn't on it too bad just driving around with a wheely here and there. The last wheely really screwed it up... Even though it was a lot of power I would think that aluminum would be able to hold on and not twist like that... I'm converting to the Duratrax steel diffs now lol. I don't think that user error is involved here but who knows. It's a 450W Computer Power Supply. 12v @ 15a Trying to charge 3S Li-Pos (2250 & 2400 mAH) I have 2 sets of sensor wires soldered together and the green together. I have the 5v rail with a 10w 10ohm sandbar. When I plug in the battery to charge, the power supply shuts off. Help? I can get it to work sometimes but not very reliably.

RE: Pure beginner....
Welcome to RCU and the hobby. I hope you like an empty wallet. Traxxas is a great beginner car. Although I have not owned a mini Revo, I own 4 other 1/10 scale trucks from them and love it! If I had the money I would buy one. 270 dollars imo is a great deal. Be VERY careful with Li-Pos. They can, will and have burned houses down. They are very dangerous and need to be maintained well. They last longer with better speeds so that is the Pros about them. I run Li-Pos in my Vendetta ST. I am going to assume that he has 2 3S Li-Pos (3 cell) and that is what he is talking about. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DcpANRFrI4&feature=related Make sure that he includes a charger and balancer or that will run you about 150 dollars more for a decent setup.

RE: Need help gearing my Vendetta ST (Brushless Li-Po)
ORIGINAL: burnineyes I guess I should say that a low gear ratio is a numerically low ratio, not a smaller pinion/larger spur. A larger pinion/smaller spur/or both, will give you a low ratio. If the smaller pinion makes it work better then I would keep dropping until you find the sweet spot, but I run a Castle 26mm 4600 motor with a 15 tooth no problems, but I run on a tight track. I also use a 25A EZrun ESC, which I am sure cant be as strong as your Mamba 25. MIne is as smooth as I coule ever want. I use Hobbycity Lipos which are pretty cheap too. To update your firmware you need a Castlelink, go to Castles website and follow the instructions. Maybe the hobbyshop has one if you do not. I would not rule out connections just yet because it may clear up just fine once the load is reduced after takeoff. Not that I think this is necessarily your problem, but it is a common cause. I know the original firmware on the 25 is not very smooth with lower kv motors, so I would definitely try to get that done soon.
Alright, I am buying the link thing soon I think. I am going to take it to my electronics class tomorrow and have my teacher solder it for me. Maybe he will have better luck. I am pretty sure that I did a good job with the welds though...

RE: Need help gearing my Vendetta ST (Brushless Li-Po)
Alright, well if I smooth the throttle out the cogging goes away. I tried with 2 different Li-Pos: 2500 mAH 15C 3S 2250 mmAH 25C 3S Both cogged but smooths out. I have stock spur which I believe is 45T. Am I wrong? I have tried 13, 16, 19, 22T pinions. All of them cogged but 13 worked the best. Maybe go to a lower? I am thinking about buying an 10, 11, 12. The hobbyshop owner said normally when you convert to brushless, you drop the pinion 2 teeth and estimated that the ST has 14t? Is there truth to this statement? If so why has everyone told me to try higher teeth pinions, what is the difference? How do I go about updating the firmware on my mambe 25 esc? Since it is not constantly cogging can we possible rule out bad solder connections and that the motor/esc is bad? Also, the car roles smoothly, and the spur/pinion mesh was perfect according to the hobbyshop owner. I'm assuming that means there is no binding. I would rather not have to buy a 1/10 esc cause I am not looking to spend to much more money into getting this car running. I have over 350 dollars in it already haha. I'm a little stressed and confused haha. I have fallen and can't get up!!!

RE: Need help gearing my Vendetta ST (Brushless Li-Po)
Alright, so I got the gears and began running. I think the term is cogging. Well it does it non-stop and gets way to hot to touch. I am running a Mamba 25 ESC. My hobby shop said that that esc may not be able to power the motor hence why it gets so hot so quick. Anyone wanna chime in? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Someone said that the connections may be bad... So I'll try re soldering them maybe.

My dad just bought one of these planes as a kit and I thought I would do some research on the plane. First is it a good plane? I looked around and searched and seemed like no one built or owned one... Not good! Haha. Second what kind of glue should he use? I'm not entirely sure what he means but it's something he wanted to know. It's a balsa kit. Third, as a first build is there any tips or hints you would like to give him? He understands going slow and patience but is there any other tips?

RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
I do not understand why this thread is going to such escalation. The point is: YES, KM stole the Baja from HPI. But did gateway steal the PC from IBM? Doesn't make it right but thats how the world revolves. People are going to buy the product whether or not you flame about it. If someone is going to want to buy the car, they're gonna buy it. The only way they won't buy it is with some good proof, HENCE why I wrote a review on the original baja so people know. I did not lead anyone on, and I apologize about the fuelie it's what it appeared to be. NO, this does not hurt HPI as much as everyone thinks it does. I would not have bought a 1/5th scale if it weren't for KM cause I don't have enough cash to blow 900 bucks on a R/C car. I spent hundreds of dollars for replacement parts FROM HPI. They would have NEVER got money from me unless I bought that clone. Everyone will have their thoughts on legal issues and legitimacy. If you don't like the Clones, than please, don't post in any of the topics about them. No one is going to sell their clone just cause you said that it's not what it is blah blah blah. It doesn't help anyone, it just creates a ginormous unnecessary flame war. Happy R/Cing -Justin

RE: How to convert an ATX power supply to rc use
Alright I am attempting this but I have a few questions. It's a 450w ATX switching power supply. The wiring is wierd, at the P1 connector (20 pin) There are 2 sets of combined wires. Orange and Orange Black and Black They are not darker nor lighter from the rest of them but I am assuming they are the sensing wires, I soldered orange to orange and black to black. I put the only green wire on a switch with ground Gray is not connected to anything as of right now cause I'm going to be using it as a LED. Now, since I am snowed in I couldn't go to radio shack but I found a car bulb to use to test. First I tried the yellow and a ground with OUT a load on the 5v rail. I got nothing. Then I tried to use the bulb as a load on the 5v rail and when I flipped the switch, the fan did not turn on. Now I know you say don't assume the fan works. Just assume that the fan works. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
