Have you checked that the crystals in the Rx and Tx are seated properly? Do you have another set you could try? -JT

RE: Exceed RC Eagle 50
Do you mean that the servos move with cyclic inputs but not if you just increase throttle? That would be odd indeed. Do you have DIP switch 8 set to UNLOCKED on the back of the Tx? You should see the pitch of the main blades change as you turn the PIT/PLT knobs if that switch is set to UNLOCKED. -JT

RE: 22e Receiver Problem
IIRC, the MOSFET is rated for an insane amount of current - like 80 Amps - but only under ideal conditions of cooling and loading (like bursts for X amount of time followed by light loading). The wiring and circuit board traces could never handle that much current and there's no heat sink on the MOSFET. The main motor draws something like 6A max. This is all from memory of quite a long time ago. -JT

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
dodgemcopter, The battery stuff can be confusing, but it's not that tough to understand. For this size heli a three cell (11.1V) Lipo is what you want. Lipo batteries are made up of cells of 3.7V each. A two cell works great in the #4. The 800, 1100, 1200, etc. denotes the capacity in milliamp-hours (mAh). An 800mAh battery can supply 800mA for one hour, or 400mA for two hours, or 1600ma (1.6 Amps) for half an hour, etc. Capacity equates to flying time. The 10C, 12C, etc. denotes the whammo! You have to combine the "C" rating with the capacity to get the maximum amount of current the battery can supply. So an 800mAh 10C battery can supply a maximum of 10x800mA or 8000mA (8 Amps). An 800mAh 12C battery can supply 12x800mA or 9.6 Amps. Sometimes you'll see two C ratings given for a battey - continuous and burst. The continuous rating is what it can supply, well, continuously. The burst rating is what it can supply for a second or two. A couple of things to keep in mind is that weight is an important factor with anything that flies. A 2000mAh battery won't give you twice as much flying time as a 1000mAh battery because it's probably twice as heavy. You reach a point where the helicopter won't even be able to lift the battery. It's also been reported here that high C batteries tend to burn up motors and ESCs. That extra whammo can do some damage. So the answer to your question is that something in the 1000mAh area, 10C to 15C will work just great in the 22E. Hope this helps! -JT

It could be a bad spot on your Tx pot (potentiometer). You can try cleaning it out with compressed air, alcohol, or tuner cleaner. You'll have to open the Tx to get to the pot. -JT
ORIGINAL: toothpick1052 i have not been able to find much about separates. im wondering if i can take a blade cp's 4-in1 tx and rx and use all this, instead of walkera's electronics. right now, i cannot figure out how to get the blades electronics to not move all the cervos at once. its for a collective pitch heli, and i want to know if it will work on a fixed pitch.
The problem is that the Blade CP Tx does CCPM mixing. See if there are DIP switches under the batteries. If so, I believe the CCPM mixing can be disabled with certain switch settings. -JT

RE: Dragon Fly 22e Reciever Throttle Control
Ah... the thread's OP was referring to the 22E. I don't have the #4 (well not the electronics, just the airframe). It could be a DIP switch issue. You could try to see if you get a solid red light with the throttle in the fully up position. You may want to remove the blades first before you try it. Try posting in the #4 thread and I'm sure someone there can give you the correct DIP switch settings. -JT

RE: Dragon Fly 22e Reciever Throttle Control
The throttle trim is the small slider next to the throttle (not the one below it, that's the rudder trim). The throttle trim should also be all the way down. The FLIGHT MODE switch should be in the N position (not the 1 position). If you have the throttle, throttle trim, and FLIGHT MODE switches all in the proper positions and you still don't get a solid red light, see if when you move the right stick on the Tx the servos move. I'm not positive, but I think the servos will move even if you're still getting a blinking red light. If the servos move it tells us your RF link is working and the trouble is with the throttle position. If the servos don't move, unplug the battery to the heli, turn off the Tx and remove the crystals in both the 4-in-1 and the Tx, spread the pins a little bit, and plug them both in. The crystal in the 4-in-1 has a paper "flag" with the channel or frequency printed on it. You can pull on the flag to get it out. The crystal in the Tx has a plastic cap over it with the frequency printed on it and plugs into the back of the Tx. Just pull out the cap and the crystal will come with it. Let us know how it goes. -JT

RE: Exceed RC Eagle 50
I had to have the servo arms pointed slightly upwards (with the Tx sticks centered) to keep them from hitting different parts of the frame at full deflection. I don't know if it's the best solution, but I didn't like the idea of them hitting the frame. You could try taking them off the frame and see if they act the same. By the way, are your trims on the right stick (assuming you're using a Mode 2 Tx) centered? A good programmable Tx will allow you to limit the travel of each individual servo as well as allow you to center the servo arm. -JT

RE: Warranties on Helicopters
Yep. I'd say that's normal. Far too many people take them out of the box and fire them up without knowing what they're doing. The result is usually a pile of busted helicopter parts that the buyer wants to blame on faulty components. If you order from a reputable place they may replace individual parts like a faulty motor, servo, 4-in-1, etc., but I'm sure they've heard every excuse in the book. Usually, once it's left the ground you're on your own. I'd say most China/Hong Kong sellers have little to no customer service. Just my 2 cents... -JT

RE: Need info about 22e RX-603 reciver
I don't think it can be done. The 22E Rx doesn't have a rudder output channel and you'll need that to control the tail servo. You should also know a few things about the Blackhawk 3D Pro: It was a great bargain at twice the price they're selling it at now. BUT... it's a clone of the Century Elite 3D Pro which has been discontinued. Spare parts are pretty much impossible to get. Also, it's not a belt drive tail, but a shaft drive tail. It eats crown gears any time the tail rotor hits anything (and I mean anything). Some parts from the Skyartec Mosquito Pro will fit it, but not all of them. I'm not saying don't get one, but if you do you might want to get two or three so you'll have some spare parts. -JT

KV, How much do the Lipos weight compared to the stock NiMH? It could be bum packs (have you measured the voltage of each cell) or maybe they're just too heavy. I like to stick to 800 to 900 mAh batteries that are in the 45g area. -JT

I think they're all identical. However, the servos I got on my refurbished Venom NR3D had better wires (thicker, more robust) than the ones on my 22E, but the I got the Venom several months if not a year after the 22E so maybe they changed the ones on the 22E as well. Everything else was identical except for the color. -JT

I know it's none of my business and you really don't want to hear this, but I think you should learn how to fly the nose not the tail.
