RE: RBC TA-183 FINAL BUILD EDF
Had the oportunity to maiden this plane this weekend sunday 9 2012 . It was raining driving to the field, my field is 75 km from the city so I was lucky to get to the flying site and there was no rain for the moment. Have to say this plane is a solid flier, was afraid at the begining, but fallowing all the recomendations of previus fliers that post in forums there were no bad habits encountered in the two flights I had the oportunity to make. 420 watts were more than enough for this plane. The motor configuration is suposed to run with 4s but 3S with high Crate lipo worked like charm. My old batteries 25C 3200mha 3S were only gving 225 WATTS loosing voltage to 9 volts from begining. High Crate lipo sustained 11 volts giving 420 watts freshly charged. Have three videos from my not so good two camera guys. Sorry for the cheasy music on the edited version. Will get some good flying fotage next time. MAIDEN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtUK0Lrn0Fw&feature=plcp Edited version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdjmL468wKQ&feature=plcp Landing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cIs9z_EXus&feature=plcp Have to say: The plane is fast and eficient with the watts used. If not aprouched correctly the plane glides all the runuway as can see on landing having a flip at the end. It is expectacular on the air. My landing gear mod worked flawlesly even after the flip at end of runuway. Cheers Juan

Thanks Doug for fallowing this thread in the last year. Had a hard time balancing, esc at back, extra servo for steering at back, rx at back, extra landing gear behind cg, so run out of battery front movement and had to ballast the plane, 2 oz of lead to the front. Also opened the front tomslide a 700 mha 4.8 v nimh battery. RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
When I was 15 twenty two years ago there was no tecnology for small planes, and RC was expensive. So I could only dream in making the guillows planes RC. Tried but never finished them.My first rc plane was a Golber eaglet with a os max 25 fp that I enjoyed building and then my instructor crashed. Was until I turned 26 and could pay for my own stuff that returned to RC. Like small planes probably for being NOSTALGIC and since this size of planes were the ones I used to fly with control line (remember the cox jets with 0.49) Can fit 8 planes in my Suzuki Vitara (94 tracker) Small planes are fun, but so the others.Think any size is OK while you are having FUN. Should start in building your own planes check: www.radicalrc.com Cheers Juan

Hy Steve: This is the big thread you want to read http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=908112 I posted some buiding picutes on page 16 gray savex. If I have to build one again will go MINI on all surfaces exept ruder since a standard servo is easy to glue inside rudder. Tams Jet Retracts with foam wheels. The trhust tube is hard to get in and get out. Keep it light as it has a tendency t bunny jump on landings ruining the retracts. Cheers Juan

RE: Savex L39
Build one for a friend. Lots of information in rcxxxgroups. Used two mini hitec digital servos for elevator, one standard servo for rudder, two mini digitals for ailerons, and one standard servo for steering. They were high torque max 70 oz inch. The jet a1 retracts considered over priced and had problems with the front retract, check tams jets formretracts. Not sure about the specs of your motor but the one i build was neu ans used 50000 mha 8s and produced about 2800 watts. Go to the other site for best info. Cheers juan

RE: paint gun recomendation
Have seen de the finex 1000 seem like a nice alternative for price and quality. Any coment on this spray guns? Seems this is the size for the ultimate hobby spray gun not to small and not to big and easy clean. Ebay is crowded with this type of gun in diferent brands, which for sure are china. Think the original is the Binks model 115 Item picture This is the devilbiss ega 503 Item image This is the sharpe detail gravity feed and have a similar with siphon. WHY SO EXPENSIVE this small spray guns compared to the bigger and same brand guns? For the moment my option are finex 1000 or eastwood concourse mini. They are about $ 80-$110. The Centra Neumatic gun seems intereresting but there are mix reviews. Is there a good clone brand for the Binks model 115, seem to be a nice primer gun for the hobby use? Sata for sure is nice buy not in my range. Thanks Juan

paint gun recomendation
Will apreciate a spray paint gun recomendiation. I´m not a profesional painter and this gun wil be used for my model rc painting needs Have been using a small hobbico aribrush with good results, but this time the project is a jet and not a small model and applying primer with it has been tedius. Will no use it for the painting. I plan to use the PPG Omni Au single stage polyutherane paint which I´m familiar with in previus projects with good results. Will like to get the best bang for the money but have learned being cheap`is expensive so my top will be about $ 180.00 for a gun. Questions Mini or standard Gun? For sure want low air deman spray gun since don´t have a big air compresor. Have research the fallowing Devilbiss stating line of spray guns TCPGLOBAL brand of spray guns Eastwood coucourse line of spray guns For sure are better guns but cost 3 to 7 times the above. Thanks Juan

RE: HET F18 700mm span any good?
Rudders I have never seen a Habu in person but seen videso and coments. The Habu weights less and can be hand launch and is more acrobatic. Don´t think is faster. Probably is more fun. Hobby King has the Stinger which is the copy cat of the foam Habu. My het f18 is not acrobatic and probably if a you are a good basball pitcher will be able to hand launch. Also wheight more 2-3 pounds. Think the Het f-18 will not be as fun as the Habu but will give you exprience in throtle managment since is required in jets since have no props, and also in landing fast since wing loading is higher than habu. For me the most enjoyable part is landing and flaring this het in high angle berfore landing. The speed of My Het is aprox 70-80 MPH, if it is a bargain go for it if not there a better edf now days. I got mine real cheap and already had all the electronics and fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC-Pm8nsOzI cheers, Juan

RE: Hobby King turbine!
To much writing only on speculation. Let´s see if the pruduct proves itself. Six years ago you could buy kits to build your turbine, NOT ANY MORE. You need certain knowledge to deal with turbines even if they are from a premiun brand. JJ is the only one selling kits. I hope they will come with a better offer than JJ, since if not what is the point. In my case I can´t afford a premiun turbine but will jump into one if: 1. The turbine is a proven designg and has relliable parts: (today can say most of them are kj66 upgraded turbines) 2.Availibiliity of spare parts, hell no if you have to send your turbine to china. 3. A relliable fadec with relliable valves and pump. Probably this wont happen but 4. Trained in turbines online personel to solve minor problems, and in how to adjust your fadec to your location. Think the price should be in between a JJ turbine and a KINTECH or the new jet munt WM80. For sure I will not be the BETTA tester and will wait to see what happens. Changing theme. We live in a globalized world so we have to accept it and do our best since our neighbor can be any body that lives in this planet. cheers

It is a good start edf. I prefer balsa over foam. If you are looking for a super fast edf this is not the arf plane. Have a build uder het f18 personalization. The good things uses 3s 3200-3600 mha wich are cheap now days, a 500-700watt motor is more than enough. Need some previus experience to build since it is not an arf as descibed. Cheers Juan

RE: gorilla glue vs. epoxy
I wil say there is the best glue dependig the aplication. Gorilla makes lite bonds to foam penetrating and filling voids. Epoxy is heavy and makes strong bonds where vibration is an issue. CA or instant glue is fast but britle. White glue is a very good all pupose glue but very slow gluing. So with experience and experimentarion you will find the best suited glue for the job. In my contry gorrilla glue has a very short shelf life to to hi humidity. Cheers.
