RE: Back in the game- Aircraft Radio question
After much research, I purchased a Futaba 7c system. I have always been loyal to JR, but after reading threads/reviews/etc.. I feel the 7c will be the best set up for me to grow with. You can bet that if I had a 72 mhz system sitting around, I wouldn't hesitate to fly it in a heartbeat. Thanks again all for the advice

RE: Gremlin help
Jim- I guess my timeline may be a bit off... It must have been 92 when I first saw a Gremlin.... regardless..... It's totally great that you are approaching the 20th Anniversary. Perhaps we can throw togeather a build off or something to commemorate? Take care!

RE: Gremlin help
Howdy all- I just wanted to pop in and share... In college I stumbled into a group of local RC guys flying on a dead end road in the middle of nowhere. At the time I was a shaky Duroplane pilot.. Anyway one old boy had a Gremlin and I was intrigued by this awesome plane that was tearing through the sky and being handlaunched and started on a milk crate. I bought it from him on the spot... Now 25 years later, after having raced RC cars, flown in numerous heli competitions, etc... I find myself re-entering the hobby as a fixed wing pilot. My first kit back was of course a Gremlin. I am throwing one togeather along with a mod winged PT60 to get my skills back. In all these years the Gremlin remains the most fun I have had in the sky. No real combat around here, but If I fly up to speck, I can get the turkey vultures to dive down and chase me..... Anyway, My sincere thanks to all involved with the Gremlin and it's continued distribution. I don't feel complete unless there is at least one unopened Grem kit on the shelf in the garage. Incidently.....Back in the day, we used to stretch pantyhose over the wing and brush with thinned epoxy in liu of any fiberglass work. Creates a tough wing and offers the foam a little protection from monocoat application and belly landings. Anybody else do this?

RE: Back in the game- Aircraft Radio question
So that price is steep? It does include everything in OG packaging. Thanks for the input! I really am lost on new radio tech despite how much I read....

Back in the game- Aircraft Radio question
Greetings all- I am back in the R/C game after a long break and confused about new radio technology. I was hoping to soliciate some advice. When I last quit flying (helis) I loved my JR 8103. Now that I am back, I see all kinds of acronyms for signal control protocal that appears to be proprietary to each manufacturer. (When I left PCM was just becoming popular) I am re-entering the hobby as a fixed wing pilot and I need a simple 4 channel radio system that has dual rates and flaperon mixing. It seems radios no longer come with servos, rx batteries, etc.. and that the cost adds up quickly. Question: Is there any reason I shouldn't score a old 8103 of the auction site for $150 that included everything i need (figure another $50 for fresh batteries of course) ? or is there a better/newer option out there in the same price range? TIA for your advice
