RE: Sim for 5 yr old
WACONUT, Have you concidered buying a controller on EBAY. The older 72 mzh transmitters are very cheap and usually com with their own charger. Just a thought.

RE: Sim for 5 yr old
RF 6 has it's own transmitter. Optionally, you can use the older controller or your own transmitter.

RE: 35% Electric Extra
Motor wires don't look like they are capable of supporting anywhere near 200amps. Check wiring and make sure they can deliver the required current.

RE: durafly se5a power drain
Try reprogramming the controller. When you do, remember to set the throttle trim down. Also, if you have another ESC give it a try (swap them). It could be the motor. If it gets hot or in a crash it can be damaged. If you get the same results with a different (same specs) ESC I'd say your motor is bad.

Check out Hobbyking.com. They have some good and less costly motors.

RE: best paint for homemade foamy
Any water base acrilic paint should work fine. Always test the paint first on a piece of scrap foam. Once, I didn't and ruined the plane. It turned out the paint label on the bottle was wrong. Even H2O krylon can mealt foam if the can is held to close to some foams. It seems the gas in the can is the real problem.

RE: RC Flying Site Issues Due To Li-Po Fires
Sounds just like C A L I F O R N I A doesn't it? I witnessed two LIpo fires at two different clubs here in Michigan and we are still open. And for that reson I won't answer all your questions. There is no reason to upset the apple cart !!!

I've found the programming card the easist to use. But then, I'm tone deaf and can't count !

You can do all you asked for in the RF editor. You just need to know how. If you have questions call their support. I found them very helpful.

RE: puffed lipo battery to use or not
I have several that seem to always "puff". I think that the heat is trapped inside as gas and has no way out. It appears on the surface that the covering is extremly sight. So far, I've recycled then about 10 times with no issue. Of course, I would not use them on any of my really special planes. Caution is always the best side of valor.

r/coldie, I think you have it backwords. Some plans fly so well they just can't stand the ground and don't want to come down :-)

RE: RANT: The
You're right! It's always about the almighty dollar (or yen, Pound, douc mark, etc.). Most of these companies have young inexperienced employees that rush to judgment. It appears to this "old geezer" that the younger generation does not believe in the "Cash cow" or even customer loyalty!! My generation use to say, "...either automate or immigrate". This younger generations' saying should be "...pass the buck cause I don't give a ... rats *&^) !!!

I think it is. RF seems to run smoother have less glitches and I can land much easier. Plenty of free uploads also. Look for the cute little gator and his airboat.

RE: Phoenix4's Spektrum DX5 Transmitter Question
BAD BAD thing to do. Just because the plug fits never plug something in "...and see if it works". Would you plug your TV into an outlet in some country where they supply 220 volts instead of 110 volts? If I were you I'd send my transmitter in for a complete checkout. Just my thoughts.

Try using one of the many free motor caluclators on-line. They will show you everything you need to know AND you can play with the parameters. Most give you the estimated flight time with specified setups.

RE: wiring help please!!
You could add a UBEC with an "On / Off" switch built in. But, several guys I fly with just add their own "On / Off" switch from the ESC to the receiver. They say just cut the RED wire that goes from the ESC to the Receiver and add the on/off switch in series.

Hobby King also has a warehouse in the U.S.A. It costs less to ship from there but you pay about a dollar more in battery costs.

Just for fun I visited the rc-electronics web site mention in this posting. Sorry, but I never found anywhere that says "...made in the USA". But then I remember the old days when Japan renamed a city USA so they could say made in USA.
