ORIGINAL: coyv10 Ok need some advise. Duece with the .32 nearing 55mph th hull starts rocking from side to side, and if I don't back off the throttle you see it go skipping across the water.. Do I need to add weight to the front or what?
Mine started doing that when I went with a really high pitch prop. I then changed to a lower pitch, but larger diameter, and no problem. Also remember, this hull really wasn't intended to be going this fast.[:D]

Futaba FHSS or FASST 2.4 GHz Radio?
I've been looking at these two radios: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXMV5&P=0 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXRL8&P=0 Cost is somewhat of an issue. All of my boats are RTRs (Vegas, SV27, TC31) as well as a couple of Rustler trucks. The FHSS one is cheaper, as are the recievers. Does anyone know what the difference is between FHSS and FASST? Would I notice a difference? Trying to convert the fleet to 2.4 GHz, and the FHSS receivers are $30 cheaper each. So I'm leaning that way. Thanks for any input.
ORIGINAL: DARKPHREAKX I'd like to sand the bottom of the hull but am unsure about where exactly to do it. Anyone know which areas need to be sanded?
I just lightly sanded the bottom of the sponsons and the aft area of the hull with 600 grit. I know alot of people who really take the sandpaper to the hull and sponsons to get it perfectly flat, and make all the corners sharp and square. I'm talking almost down to bare fiberglass - and then repaint.

Here's a good prop: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRUD4&P=ML and they carry the turn fins. The equivalent is the Octura Y535 (www.offshoreelectrics.com) which needs sharpening and balancing. The Grim prop still could use a little work, but they are pretty good right out of the box.

RE: Thunder Cat 31
To keep the silicon couplers from burning up, I added a header cooling coil (from the Aquacraft Supervee 27). You just have to uncoil it slightly to fit on the larger header, but it works great. Just run the water cooling line out from the engine, into the header cooling coil, then out the water outlet. I'll post a pic later. Some people in my club run a separate water cooling line just for the header coil, and just add another water outlet. I also use the Venom 1/8 scale couplers. They really hold up great. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRDF2&P=ML http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRHP8&P=7 Hope that helps![:D]

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
ORIGINAL: lomcevac540T The Vegas that TreEsPaSS has don't look like a deuce. It was explained one time like this... The sponson mods were great to get more speed from a boat with less power, they raise the front of the boat, get more air under the hull, and reduce drag. But the original sponsons (trued up) were better for high speeds, when engine power is not a problem.
That makes sense - I guess you can get to a point where it can air out too much. I did a simple sponson mod on my .32 vegas - so far haven't had any stability issues, but she is still getting broken in, and I am slowly leaning her out. I did put an Octura X645 today, which definitely woke her up some more. Need to work on the strut depth now, and continue leaning to tweak out more speed. On another note - my 5 cell battery pack had a meltdown and caught fire during a run. Took out the batt, throttle servo, switch harness, and the plexi radio box cover. The boat had flipped when I turned too sharply too miss a boat that died in front of me. When I pulled the boat out of the water, we found the mess. Don't know if the flip caused it. There was no water in the radio box. Fortnately, easy fixes, could have been alot worse. Sorry - no pics of the burned up components.
