RE: Favorite resin for glassing?
I use water base poly, treat the wood with a sealer like deft sanding sealer then the WB poly. down side... it takes like 4 coats to fill the weave but can be done in about 5 hours

DLE 55
Excuse the question but I am currently building a 1/6 scale P51, And the engine of choice was the dle 55 I can tune an engine but need help in the mechanics of one. The question is can the head of the dle 55 be rotated 90 degrees to make it a rear exhaust rather than a side exhaust without engine trouble?

Looks like we got a good deal! I see they are going for 410.00 here in the states! She goes back next Saturday. She sent me a link for another maufacturer for 50cc for 189.00 but you have to buy 3. she also wanted to know if she could bring back a few of the DLE 55 and sell them for 350.00 to some of my rc friends if they would sell?

RE: DL-50 engine
Need some advice, My sister lives in Hong Kong and she just returned to the states with a DLE-55 for 289.00 (for taking care of her house for 2 yrs, it was FREE) this is an authentic 55 from what I can tell. After reading some of this thread some people are tearing them down to clean the insides is this really necessary? Anything special I should do before starting? Looks like a very well manufactured engine! Greg

RE: Spitfire finish question. HELP!
the only thing about latex is it does not fully cure for at least 3 weeks.. After 1 day it is not even gassed out yet, put your nose to it if you can smell the smallest vapor it not done curing, it will be dry but not cured. I'm not saying you cant clear it because I have in a pinch, even then some of the paint orange peeled. just be sure to put lite coats of clear, not one heavy coat or you are asking for trouble.. good luck Greg

RE: Spitfire finish question. HELP!
decals first, then spray. BUT by past experiance water base poly will not hold up to nitro or gas. Be sure to let the latex dry at least 3 weeks to gas out. As much as you want to clear coat it be patient and wait!

carb rebuilding
I am in the process of rebuilding a walbro carb, and my question is. the second you start to push down on the float needle lever arm should the float needle immediately begin to come up? I have some slop in this one. I can push on the metering arm and there is a little less than a 1/16 of an inch slop before the float needle begins to rise!!! I have seen this many times on walbro's I thought there should be next to zero tolerance on the metering arm and the float needle!
