I can only find parts for the v1. Same with the blades. [/quote] What a bummer if they changed the skids on V2 to the point we can't use super-skids. One of the 3 most importants mods to make - fuse mod, super-skids and cnc rotor core. I just sent a pm to Gary ( GTX SlotCar ) and asked him if he could answer for us. BTW Gary IS super-skids.

We have 2 LHS's here. One is aircraft, and has almost nothing for the falcon. They are more into bigger nitro helis. The other does mostly cars, and has a few motors, screws, etc that will fit. They carry a few parts for the honeybee for some reason, not sure how it ties into cars? But, the price there is actually higher than Michael charges even after shipping, so unless it's an emergency, I still order from him. Navy, you're right. I did use ppjoy, but still had trouble making it work. And it would just quit overnight and next day I'd have to set it all up again. I know lots of guys have only minor problems with it, but it was major pain for me.

I think he's asking is if the falcon transmitter will work with the sim? I did get the Falcon version 1 transmitter to work but I don't remember how I did it. It did need to be powered up and eating batteries. I use the esky transmitter - [link]https://www.ushobbysupply.com/product_info.php?products_id=518[/link] It's pretty much plug and play and works great. This is the radio that comes with the training kit Dave mentioned. FMS simulator is barely ok - better than nothing. Realflight and Phoenix are the two best and cost a bit. Between those two is clearview. Not quite as realistic as realflight, but way better than fms. And the honeybee fp that comes with clearview feels very much like the falcon. [link]http://rcflightsim.com/[/link] I've never timed my batteries and to be honest it's very seldom I fly a full pack non stop. I'm still working on the different hover options and I do a lot of touch n goes too so almost never just run a battery out in one flight.

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
This happened to me when I was first learning. It pulled way to hard left, I even took the arm off the servo and moved it up one tooth so I hade more right, it still pulled left. One ear on the rotor core was cracked (where the rotor bearings go). I replaced the rotor core, reset the servo, and it flew fine. Same thing happened to my brother a week later. It doesn't take much of a crack in the ear. Not sure if the core is the same, would be good time to put in the cnc core if it fits. No guarantee you have the same problem, but it sure sounds like it. Any way to show a pic of the radio? It sounds like it may be a problem, but hard to say for sure.

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
couple quick questions. Is the servo moving? You've got a pretty new bird. Why is the radio leaning? Yes, depending on how much lean and in what direction it can mess with the gyro. That would mostly effect tail rotation, not so much scooting left and right. You didn't get one of those used/returned/demo birds from xheli did you? You should be able to scoot around on a smooth surface pretty easy. I did the "scoot" on a carpet to get a feel for it.

Clearview made some nice changes; I've had a chance to play with the newest version and the aircraft are feeling much better. I'm loving that little FP, and the fixed wing are better as well. Those little foamies have a good reputation, but I don't like small, and I really prefer to build. This was a balsa and ply kit. A little over twice the size of that foamie, much easier for an fart like me to see.

Did some side and nose in. It's starting to get too easy, so I decided to try some ff flight. (actually the lama isn't capable of FAST forward, so lets just say I flew around a little). I was starting to feel a lot like flying around a fixed wing when after about 2 minutes of flight (while making a 180 dgree turn) I heard a kind of thud, and the poor thing fell like a wounded bird. Both upper blades had shattered in flight. Looks to have been stress related. Is this poor thing not able to handle the stress of "normal flight"? I only have one upper blade in my parts box, and took that as a hint it was time to play Guild Wars on the PC.

You might even consider the super blades from www.super-skids.com I don't think anyone here has tried 'em, but Gary hasn't let us down yet. I forgot about those silly bearings - I have lost at least 4 of 'em, maybe even 5 or 6. Keep a large magnet handy like an old speaker. When you crash and the main rotor pops loose, check to see if the bearings are missing. You can often find the bearing by moving the magnet around the area of the crash.

You'll also notice if you read the entire thread there are no posts from LarryS, but there is clearly a reply which means I had posted something there, right?. They deleted my posts (3) and never resolved the issue. They just put some BS in the forum that sounds like the issue was resolved so if anyone reads what is left there, it sounds like they took care of me. Trust me, I was left hanging with zero resolution. Look, my personal oppinion, based on personal experience, is yeah, xheli sucks. That has nothing whatsoever to do with you, and is not a personal attack aimed at you. If you are happy with xheli that's fine. And if they are taking care of you, then that's good too. But like I said earlier, I was unable to talk to a real person on the phone, my emails went unanswered, and my requests for help in the support forum were deleted with no resolution. Dock- I've had some luck using a coax (lama 4) along with a sim to train my hands/brain on stickmovement. But I have read lots of other people say a coax is a waste of money, so I think it's a case by case thing. At the bottom right of the page is a search this thread option, very helpful. Search for and do the fuse mod. Basics are put a 7 to 10 amp automotive blade fuse on the main motor and a 3 to 4 amp on the tail. It protects the receiver. Also look into superskids. And the cnc rotor core from ushobbysupply.com. Aside from those, the parts I break most are main blades and mainframe. Hey Jim. I'm kind of in and out. Winter is here in the NW - had a crappy summer weather wise and now flying days will be hard to come by.

souf - My first thought is the tail motor is failing. Our buddy Navy did a great job of summing up that receiver adjustment here page 274 [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4826535/anchors_8044641/mpage_274/key_/anchor/tm.htm#8044641[/link] Dock - The falcon is a great trainer. It can take a real beating, and repairs are cheap. It's not as stable as a more expensive collective would be, but repairs are much cheaper, and it's much easier to set up.

RE: XHeli out of stock items
I am not attacking you personally - if that's impression you get I apologize. I too had placed several orders with xheli - I bought my falcon, a lama 4, and lots of parts, and was a very happy camper. Until they messed up. I tried several times to contact them by phone and was never able to speak to a real person. I sent 3 emails and got only the canned " thanks - someone will contact you " reply. No one addressed my issue. I posted my issue on their own support web site and my requests for help were deleted. I didn't swear or use foul language, didn't name any competitor, didn't do say anything that justified being deleted. I simply pointed out that phone calls went unanswered, emails got no replies, and requests for help on their forums were being ingnored and poof, I'm deleted. Rather than apologize for ignoring my issue for so long and attempting to help, they simply deleted the posts. I have never been told why I was deleted, and my issue was never addressed. And I'm not telling any current or potential xheli customer to make a buying decision based on my experience. Search the different forums and make your own informed choice.

RE: XHeli out of stock items
[quote]ORIGINAL: noobflyer01 IÂ guess its a hit and miss. [/quote] Not really. Every company/business makes mistakes, it's part of doing business. The real issue is how they handle mistakes when they happen. If you buy from ANY company, including xheli, they will eventually make an error. And if you search these and other forums you find a disproportionate number people are not satisfied with how xheli deals with mistakes. It's not hit or miss, it's not if; it's WHEN they screw up, what will they do they to fix it. In the case of xheli it appears to me they will do little or nothing to fix it. But hey, don't take my word for it, search the forums for xheli, there's lot's of history out there.

After a summer of no progress on side in, I decided to try a different approach. Dusted off and charged the lama 4 and after a couple of battery packs I can pretty much control it. When I can do it without thinking about right/left I'll try the falcon again. Edited out a few comments I made during flight (forgot the camera was there) and a section at the end where I was looking back and forth at the heli and neighbor (camera is mounted on a helmet, it looks where I look). And there's the sound of one school bus after another in the background, so I turned it down and added a little mood music. [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PokHz13yy_k[/link]

Even at 7.50 for 1 frame the price is more than fair and competitive. Michael is great about about keeping the normal prices realistic, unlike many major supermarkets who mark stuff up 20%, then give you a 20% discount when you show 'em your card and sell it to you normal price (cough sputter safeway cough)[;)] When Michael cuts us a deal it really is a deal. But like you said, it's the one repair I really hate to make because it takes so long. I'm looking for some sort of small connectors to use on the tail motor. I hate to have to unsolder that thing every time. I just know eventually soldering and unsoldering those wires I'll get it too hot and ruin a perfectly good motor.

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Running the motor backwards won't hurt the 4in1. The main frame has a real weak spot where the tail boom connects. Some guys reinforce it there with epoxy etc to try to keep it from breaking. I've broke one tail boom - I broke it trying to take it out of the mainframe. Never broke one in a crash. But I just broke the 4th mainframe in the same spot - came down hard on the tail and broke the frame instead of the the tail boom. I'm not sure if it's possible to fix a broken mainframe with glue, I'd say the odds are pretty close to zero. I would guess the guy tried to add some strength to a good frame to keep it from breaking. If the tailboom feels solid and doesn't wobble I'd just fly 'till it breaks. And it will break, get some extra frames. Hard to tell from pics, but it looks to me like the new 2.4 ghz version has the same weak spot. Wish someone would market a better one. Maybe Simon could do a cnc version? [:D]

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
You can get the super skids direct from Gary at www.super-skids.com. Since most of us buy our parts at www.ushobbysupply.com , we order the super skids and spare parts from there at the same time and save a little on shipping. Even if nothing is broke, it still doesn't hurt to get a couple sets of blades or an extra main frame when you order the skids. You gotta pay shipping on the skids no matter what, so may as well get a few small parts at the same time. The 1300 packs are actually lighter than the green factory packs, and the 800 lipo packs are even lighter still and make it tricky to balance the heli; but after you get it done once and know where they go it's not a big deal anymore. 1300/1350 have almost twice the flight time but also almost twice the charge time. I have the 850 lipos that came with the Lama 4 and a couple of 1300's. I have the battery tray set up for the 1300 and if I use the 850 I have to move everything forward to balance the thing. Then when I put the 1300 back in, I have to move things around again. After one time I don't use the 850's anymore, just too much trouble moving things around. So my only real advice would be stick to one or the other.
