RE: OptiDrive?
Oh I love reverse. Don't get me wrong I'll keep the OptiDrive if I can get it set up right and do what it's supposed to do and if I can't, it's gone.

OptiDrive?
Is the OptiDrive necessary? I think something is wrong with it but don't know what. When I stomp on the throttle it will hesitate for two or three seconds and then take off. it seams to be more while it's moving when it happens. Its purpose (I think) is to keep you from shifting into reverse while it's still moving. I changed the receiver to a Hitec DCX and had to reset the servo centers does this have something to do with my problem? Do I need to re program or do some sort of reset? If memory serves me correctly it has some buttons on it and I assume these are for programing like you have to do a failsafe. If I can't resolve this problem I want to remove it and put in a new failsafe. I don't shift into reverse unless it's stopped anyway so I don't think it'll hurt but I just wanted to know if it's needed for something else. Thanks Shawn

RE: What is this?
I don't care about being cheep. If I wanted to be cheep I wouldn't be in RC. What I asked is "are they recommended" not "are they worth it." Big difference. If I have to put $1000.00 to get something to perform the way I want it to, it's worth it, to me. To me it's not about money, it's about fun. I'll get off my soap box now (wasn't trying to but now you know where I'm coming from) and I'll ask again are the ball diffs "recommended?" Shawn

RE: Thanks Government
The deficit is money that we don't have yet. In other words it has yet to be payed, like a lone. They will have to raise taxes to balance the deficit in the long run.

RE: WHO'S BUYING A SAVAGE XL 5.9
They say they beefed up the uprights and they better have because with the wider axles it's going to put more stress on them. They are one of the worst parts for braking. I think I'll wait till it's been out for a while before I decide. Then I'll more than likely just buy the parts and upgrade my X. I like the custom wheel base of my x IRC TVPs and I doubt the motor is very good and is probably some moded hellie junk motor like the hotbodies .46. My x has proven itself and HPI will have to prove to me the xl is on par with my x before I buy anything. Shawn

RE: Rpm A-arms
With RPM anything you won't be sorry. Savage .25 stock are heavier than the RPMs and have less ground clearance than the RPMs too. The x are about the same weight and clearance as RPMs but RPMs are much stronger. I've jumped my 79 ford f150 4x4 severial times and never busted a thing. I have RPMs arms and steering knuckles on my Revo too and love them. I only wish they made uprights (steering knuckles) for the savage. Shawn

I believe there both Hawks. This has been a big help. My grandson might not get to play with this much. It'll be a transition from his electric to nitro. I'll let him play with my revo and savage then I'll get him either a HPI mt 2 or a Traxxas Nitro Rustler. It depends how he handles 4wd. I'll more than likly try to restore the hawk and after my grandson is done with it, it'll sit on a shelf.

RE: NITRO HAWK
I'll revive this thread, so I can get some info. I got two of these about two weeks ago and just found out what they were. Here is the thread where I found out. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6986049/anchors_6986049/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6986049 I was wondering where I could get the 360 stinger pipe you were talking about? I see some factory parts are still being made but I have no idea if there is any after market parts still available. Some one needs to come up with a cross reference list for these old trucks. Well thanks. Shawn

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My grandson will be happy to know that I have a name to research. I looked at the exploded views and that's it. One question for you,"whiteshark107". What made you think the second is the street model? They are identical except for the tires and motors as far as I can tell. I looked at the nitro street and the nitro hawks exploded views and the rear A-arms are different on the street than both of mine. Thanks again. This is exactly what I was looking for. Shawn

RE: New alloy shoes eaten in one sitting!
Something was slipping big time. When ever I put on a new or used CB, I rough it up with sandpaper. Then I degrease it with brake clean before I install it. Most CBs have a light coating of oil to prevent rusting while setting on the shelf. I do the same with brake disks. I also degrease my new shoes too. That way there's less chance of slipping and premature ware. I don't know if this played a part in this but it might have lessoned it. Shawn

RE: What is this?
Now remember my hobby shop that's been around nearly 30 years, did say it looked like a Losi but he did say too that it was a frankinstine truck. I'm going to tear the parts truck apart tonight. I'll see if I find any writing or anything when I do. Then I'll take pics. I'll leave the one with tires alone for now because It's supposed to run. I have a starter for the trx.15 thats on it if it don't need anything els. I do know the tank needs to be sealed up. It has a crack in it and it leaks. He said he had it running and I believe it because there was fuel in the tank and that's how I found out it leaks. I'll post more picks in the morning of the parts and such. Shawn

Thanks again. The trx 3.3 runs fine for now, but a RB 523 will sit in It's place when I scrape up enough pennies and the 3.3 will be a spair. Now that we got the motor out of the way and I'm getting almost everything that RPM offers for it, what else do you recommend? Shawn

RE: What is this?
ORIGINAL: cmerritt i think it looks like a custom chassis because the screws in the front aren't sanded down and it looks very plain. just like someone got sheet metal and made one. the reciever, tank, and engine, and transmission also look from a stampede. i'd say it's a stampede with a custom chassis and different wheels, shocks, and towers
This is a production chassis not home made. Both have the same chassis and they both have a sticker underneath like a serial number. I looked at the exploded views of the stampede and the parts are different except for the tank. Shawn

RE: used Revo?
snoking16, thank you. Thats what I wanted. As for money I could spend around the same for the bb mount and and everything else. I was looking at the axel motor because I have a .32 in my savage. I'm not looking for low end. I'm looking for high end and speed. If I want low end I'll just stay with my savage. My savage is my basher and my revo will be my speed demon/racer. Again, thanks snoking16. Shawn

RE: What is this?
Now you know the first three picks are the same truck. the forth is a parts rig I got at the same time. I think these are production chassis. Both have the same chassis too. I think the shock towers are after market and look to be carbon-fiber or something. I don't believe the shocks are factory either. Now if this helps the flywheel and clutch bell are turned around backwards and the pinion is next to the engine. The brake you can see in the forth pic and is a curved piece of plastic that is supposed to stop the clutch bell. The tank does look like a nitro stampede tank from the pic that "-EXTRA- " posted but nothing else. Thanks for the input. Shawn

RE: used Revo?
Well if the hassle is drive shafts with the a bigblock (.28 no more) I'll go with CVDs. I don't mind spending money. Now if taking out the trans and such is a worry, I believe that can be beefed up too. I don't understand the hassle. If you'd explain maybe I'd be more detoured. As I said I'm not worried about the money. Processionally I think the same about all the RC hobby, if money is a problem, than RC isn't for you. Well that's the way I look at it. Besides I like to build as much as play. Thanks again. Shawn PS Sorry. I like explanations, not just a "no" don't do that. Because "no" brings up another question that demands an explanation anyway and that's "why"shouldn't I?
