RE: Avistar on floats??
I forgot to mention, When you add the floats you add more weight to the fuse (pendulum effect). Make sure you have atleast 12 to 14 rubber bands holding the wing on! I had my wing shift one time (when a friend tried to do a roll) and it jammed the aileron rod against the fuse side and in she went :( I think if I had to do it all again I would modify the wing so it bolts on. GOOD LUCK

RE: Avistar on floats??
Hey Guys, I like all your ideas and I do LOVE this plane (as a seaplane). With mine I filled in the factory slot for the landing gear with wood filler and covered it with monokote. Then in the front just behind the firewall I epoxyed in a 3/8" x 1" hard wood block from 1 side to the other side, and did the same in the back right under the servo tray, I had to mount these so the float mount (Hanger nine 40 size arf) would put the floats step where I wanted it on the cg. Then I use 8 total (4 on each) little nylon saddle clamps to hold the mount in place (I used 5/8" long #4 wood screws). These little clamps will alow it to slide side to side, In a rough landing/crash :) . I tried to take pics of the inside but they didn't come out ( I could try again if you really think they will help). I can't say enough about this setup, I LOVE this plane and it flies GREAT!!! with a OS 46 fx.

RE: Your thoughts on water rudder
Mudboger, I've got an avistar with H9 arf floats, I first tried it without a WR (I thought it would be better in the snow without it). But it is way better in the water with it, never tried it in snow. The first few flights without it were very scetchy (darting side to side) on take off. I would add it for sure! Kevin

RE: PICS OF YOUR AIRBOATS
Thanks Guys :) RS 38 40 I made that engine stand out of 1/8 alum. and lightened it every where I could, I even hollowed out the 1/2" sq. stock except where the screws thread in or pass through.(I don't think it's flexing) I'll have to get a video of it. NOW FOR YOU FLY BY 01 That's AWESOME!!! I have a NOS Prather pirahna out rigger that I should turn into something like yours :) I like the ability to slide the motor for and aft untill you find the sweet spot! Your giving me ideas (But then again my main hobby is RC planes and I have a basement full of planes (some NIB) and about 12 NIB motors. and a new house, with alot of land. That leaves me with NO TIME, only IDEAS :(

RE: PICS OF YOUR AIRBOATS
LOTS of nice lookin swamp buggies!!!!! Here's mine (Some of you have may have seen it). I haven't used it much, It pulls to the right once in a while :( I was told I should add some left thrust? I was thinking of adding a turn fin? (not good for in the snow though). What should I do? to fix the pull? Its a BSB with a 91fx (LOTS OF PULL)

RE: Dynaflight SD,floats + Fuji 43 ei
kwhite.6 , I did buy the engine, but I also just bought a bigger house with 30 acres of land [:D] so I haven't had time to put it togther. From what I see It will not be a problem, I won't have to cut anymore than I did for the US 25. I'm glad I bought this engine from what Iv'e heard here and seen this will be the perfect engine for this "BIG HEAVY PIG". Make sure you reinforce the firewall as best you can, and another weak point on this plane is the rear servo mounts for the elev. and rudder make sure this is glued in place very well. I've heard it can come loose. Is your Decathlon a dynaflight? I don't know when I'll get to mine, but I'd love to see pics of yours and know of any issues you come up against. Thanks Alot.

skyflyer47, Looks like you have some work to do [:D] LOOKS GOOD, I was wondering what is the red tube inside the wing aft of the wing tube? Keep up the good work. Prather Piranha, Rigger specs. HELP
Guys, (and Girls) First off Thank you for reading this and I LOVE RCU!!!!! I picked up a new unbuilt Prather Pirahna and it's missing a few items that I can easily make I just need to know what the dim. are of the org. parts. The main two items I need to make are the alum. turn fin and the stainless steel spoilers (I'm guessing the spoilers are made of s.s. for weight to help the C.G.?) Other than that it's missing the bulkheads the stuffing box and cable and little stuff. I have the rudder and mount, the out drive supports with roller bearings, 5" mount and an engine mount and the directions. It's in real good shape only one small chip in the fiberglass like an 1/8" by 1/4" (not all the way through). Also I'm thinking of going with a brushless motor any ideas of what I should do or use is always appreciated. (I was thinking of just selling it and getting a 40 size mono that I allready have a nib OS 40 VRM with nib pipe) I just don't know[&o] My main focus is planes but I've always liked boats also I know there are some Piranha guys out there so please help. Thanks Kevin

RE: Dynaflight SD,floats + Fuji 43 ei
Cherry629, Did you fly your SD on wheels yet? If so how does she fly?does the Zenoah pull it around good? I have nothing but good things to say about the Sea Commanders. I bought there mounting kits and extra strut material for my wing struts. The directions for both the floats and mounting kit are top notch. For my flying wires I used music rod and soldered lugs onto the ends and screwed them in. They look real good and add alot of support (well see how well they hold up, I'm alittle worried [&o] ) but well see. Thanks again Cherry629
