Fun to play with but don't brag to your friends about it

Buy yourself a used trainer that won't bother you to crash. You should be able to relax so you can hone your skills

RE: TBM 93
Trevor, I used skylite wheels. I used the nylon hubs but they do have aluminum. I didn't increase the axel size on mine I found a socket head machine screw that was the correct size. So far so good on the axels.

You won't have good luck with the servo on the tailwheel. A few of us went down that road already

RE: TBM 93
I have been following this thread from the beginning. your not the first to wonder about correct C.G. I have the same engine set up as you do. My C.G. is forward of the wing joiner spar. The 6" mark isn't too nose heavy. So play it safe and start there. This plane flies great, lands slow. hope this helps

RE: BH Gilmore Red Lion 50cc
thats cool Sonnich, Sounds like you did a great job working everything out. I landed mine long and ran into tall grass. Busted the wheel pants. When I get them repaired I am going to use your plastic card mod.

RE: BH Gilmore Red Lion 50cc
First flight today. DLE 55 ran flawless. 1/3 Throttle, take off role about 100 ft. It is a light plane had a hard time slowing down for landing. Had to shut the engine off and let it float in. I didn't check the idle rpm but the engine was just barely running at idle. It is a great flyer. A little touchy on the elevator.

RE: TBM 93
I don't think everyone is using the recommended C.G. Mine balances on the spar where the outerwing panels slide together. It flies great there. I have G-62 no lead ballast.

RE: BH Gilmore Red Lion 50cc
I have been following your progress . I am building one with a DLE-55. Earlier in the the thread you wrote it was a little nose heavy. Do you know where the C.G. was located. I am sorry about your plane. You really done a fine job on your exhaust manifold.

RE: TBM 93
John, Check out post 236-237. should clear up the center of gravity. The slop in the contrl horns. My kit came with ball joints and I didn't have any problems. Did you use the2-56 hardware or upgrade to 4-40? The gun/wing joiner pins. Mine are a tight fit and haven't had any problems . Hope this helps

RE: TBM 93
The crankshaft sticks out of the back of the engine. I have a spring starter mounted to mine. I had to cut a hole in the firewall for it to fit. this is were your extra length is at. using the factory mounting plate the provided spacers are needed to get the correct distance for cowl fit.

RE: TBM 93
the distance between my cowl and spinner plate is about 1.5mm give me alittle room for error its hard to measure with everything together

RE: TBM 93
I have 134mm from firewall to front of cowl. You want to replace the axles. The ones provided are soft, a smooth landing will cause them to bend. I fly mine with a G62 it has plenty of power for warbird performance.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
crrcpro gf26i v2 would be a better choice the mounts would make it simple compared to cutting everything out and trying to glue a firewall in at the right angle.

RE: TBM 93
I will have to check the specs, I just matched one up. I used a cutoff wheel on a dremel to make a slot in the broken axel and screwed it out with a screwdriver.

RE: TBM 93
Pneumatic systems need oil to lubricate o-rings (seals) for proper operation. I have to say that I am happy with my TBM retracts on my Zero. I used air tool oil on the valve and retract cylinders before installing. If this was part of the assembly procedures I don't think there would so many "Retract Issues"
