RE: battery size??
ORIGINAL: gaRCfield Two 450mah packs in parallel will do you fine.
. Yes, but you have to continuously charge / monitor one or both packs. If you're tapping power off of your motor batteries, then your "receiver" pack is always charged. The backup 2S-350 is only discharged while you are checking redundancy of the system. . If you're using the F3A Unlimited adapter, make sure you are using a regulator to feed power into your radio. The raw voltage ripples off of the two motor cells while you're running the motor due to ESC switching. The regulator clips off the voltage below the ripple level and feeds smooth power to your radio.

. Good idea. . . I guess you could pull the pins out of the connector, solder them, then slide them back in also. .

. Everette, is that you? .
ORIGINAL: Flyer88 The hype leading up to the plane is .....they are test flying the plane and this pilot has flown it and loves the plane and this other pilot has test flown it and loves the plane too.... No it was all a bunch a BS hype the industry is well known for to over promote a plane that is just average. Sorry I don't buy any of the crap.
RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
. Nobody is being arrogant with you. At the last contest I attended there were about 6-7 Vanquii. I can gaurantee that each one had a very different CG location and each owner would vigorously defend his reasoning for placing it exactly where it was. Over the life of your Vanquish, you are going to try several CG locations based on conversations with other Vanquish owners who KNOW their CG is THE correct location. And eventually you are going to convince someone else to put their CG exactly where yours is because you KNOW that that is correct. . Its how we are. . . you WILL be assimilated . . . . But until then I would start with the CG directly over the wing tube. .
ORIGINAL: Flyer88 Ive calculated a starting point of 7.2 inches. But I'm a little confused ???? Is this not a build thread on a Freakin Extream Flight 2m Vanquish. Or is it just a thread to mock people that are asking some genuine questions and want an honest answer about the aircraft that the thread was intended for . Or was it started as a bunch of BS propaganda to expose an new over rated airplane for a over rated company. On Chads Caelestia thread he recommends starting on the wing tube, thats an honest answer. At least he's representing his plane.......where is EF. I'm sick of the freakin arrogance [:@]
RE: Simple redundant pwr. Battery + BEC.

RE: Simple redundant pwr. Battery + BEC.
ORIGINAL: cmoulder Just asking... If it is not good for us to leave our main batteries fully charged for long periods of time, is it okay to leave the back-up RX LiPo battery fully charged?
. I'm sure that the little LiPo's degrade the same as the big ones at full charge. At $7-9 each, I look at a 2S-350Mah LiPo as disposable at the end of the season, or give them to an indoor foamy flyer to finish them off. It's a tradeoff I make for the convenience of not having to discharge to storage at the end of every day. I do check the voltage at the start of the day, and top it off if it's not at 8.4V, but I rarely have to put in more than a few Mah. . They are "taking one for the team"!! .

RE: Simple redundant pwr. Battery + BEC.
. I've been flying the system the Jim O mentioned above for well over 100 flights and it has been working great. No more charging receiver batteries! The regulator connected to the motor battery cells is at 5.9V, and the 2S-350Mah LiPo regulator is at 5.7V. The little LiPo stays charged for weeks since it doesn't get used. .

RE: Simple redundant pwr. Battery + BEC.
ORIGINAL: OhD Here is my plan for my next plane. All high voltage servos. Tap the low end 5S at the 3S pin on the balance connector and feed it to a Jaccio Perfect Switch Harness/regulator set to 8.2 volts. This is connected to the receiver. Connect a small 2S LiPo directly to the receiver through a conventional switch that allows current to flow in both directions. The system essentially runs off the motor power pack. This also keeps the small LiPo charged to 8.2 volts. The small LiPo, in addition to being a backup also serves as a large capacitor to keep the voltage constant. What do you think? Jim O
. I think this system works perfectly . . . .

RE: R/C Aerobatics Contest Board Initital Vote
ORIGINAL: jgg215 Keith, If you take exception to this rule, go talk to the AMA. I suspect it has been in the rulebook forever, so why don't you contact the AMA, find out when it was proposed, by whom, and who was on the contest board at that time. Then take it up with them. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with the NSRCA, except for the fact that we have not asked for it to be removed. John
. Maybe I'll just stop by during the Nats . . . . RE: Proposed 2013/2014 Sequences
ORIGINAL: rcpattern . . <snip>.. . I think the bigger issue is that we need a significant change to the Sportsman pattern. Actually, not a change, but go back to a mid 1990's sequence and leave it alone forever. The idea of Sportsman is to introduce new people to pattern, and it should be done in a way that doesn't require a high end pattern plane. I see no reason to ever change the Sporstman pattern. If you can't be competitive with a .40 size sport plane, then there is something wrong with the pattern. Arch
. +11 .
