RE: OS FS26???
I would love to build a Tiger Moth or SE5A to put this in. I just scratched a 52"ws SE5A. It was an English plan and designed real beefy/heavy. I made alot of changes to lighten it up but not hurt the integrity. I'm not sure these set of plans would be the ones to shrink. What do you think of a Sopwith pup or Camel?? I have a set of plans for a Sopwith Pup I think 52-55"ws that I can shrink down. Its all built up but I could probably build it pretty light. Any suggestions? Thanks Ken

RE: Lost my shop buddy last night
I think we all feel your pain. I had to unfortunetly put one of my 2 down a couple of weeks ago. She was almost 18 but pretty messed up. So I had seen enough on this particular Sunday, she was falling over couldn't walk and my kids were really upset. So off I went like a big blubbering baby. The receptionest came in after we put her to sleep and handed me a bill for $347.00. I was blown away at the amount it cost to put her down and asked like a jerk. And was told it was because it was Sunday witch is emergency rate. Would have paid anyway but would have been nice to know up front. My fault for not asking I suppose.

Any ideas on the price of this plane? And how does it fly with the magnum? I have a NIB .15 magnum and this looks like a great little plane. Looks to be pretty fast.

RE: Guillows planes ?
Yes I can agree with all of the above comments regarding Guillows kits in the past. The stickis sucked the the die cutting was more like die crunching. But the majoraty of the kits they produce now have a lot of laser cut parts now. And they also get good money for them aswell now. I live right down the street from them.

RE: Fuel-Proofing Before Locating Engine Mount?
Oh one more thing I had to do. I used the stock muffler. And the motor is mounted sideways,so I had to relieve the bottom of the fire wall and build in the recess area so the muffler would fit. If your using a 4strk I don't think you'll have this problem at all or have a different muffler for a 2 strk.

RE: Fuel-Proofing Before Locating Engine Mount?
Avistar I have about 20 flights on it and Ive had none of those above mentioned problems at all. I will say this, it is a little squirlly and unfortunetly a little under powered. I only had an OS FP40 for it. It flys great but could use the extra power for full aerobatics like a nice .46. And like KaP2011 said take your time and make sure everything is aligned properly. It is a pretty easy build, I stuck to the plan for the most part. The one thing I changed was the strut mounts to the fuse and wing area. I tossed the plastic connecters in the trash and made some out of brass. But thats it as far as changes. Good luck you will like it a lot.

RE: Fuel-Proofing Before Locating Engine Mount?
Yeah I just built the GP decathalon. I know what your saying because of going from 2 stroke to four. I would still fuel proof the tank area regadless of the power. You can get your blind nuts in still if using 4 stroke. Just my .02 cents.

RE: Hand-me-down trainer
K2R is the product I would use. But I'm a little puzzled that the entire peice of covering fell off? Thats a lot of fuel on the stabilizer as a whole. I could see the front leading edge but the whole thing? Something sounds wrong with the covering material. How did it sand was there fine dust or was it clogging the sand paper?

I had replaced the switch 6-7 flights before this with a new one out of the package. But the odd thing now that you mention the switch is when I found the wreckage.lol . The back cover plate/box that houses the switch was gone and looked mangled. I just assumed it was cause by the crash because it ripped the battery out of the switch plug. Could be it...

RE: Ugly Stck goes in and don't know why??
I don't know what happened and the input from all of sounds very convincing. All I do know is it was a pretty impressive debre field. But I got back the so called important stuff. The motor was cleaned up and put on the engine stand and started. It runs great still. So that little ray of sunshine from all of this is good for me. It wasn't a total loss. Thanks Ken

Mediator RCM plans?
I have a set of plans for the Mediator from RCM plans. I was wondering if anybody has ever seen one of these or flown one. The plane looks to be quite simple in design. The plane has a 36" ws and takes .049. Box construction with fully symetrical wing on top cut into the fuse sides. It looks like it could be a little rocket if built and set up right.

S7jstep1 welcome.. Just make sure you join a local club and get some help and guidance learning to fly or its going to get pretty frastrating fast. There is nothing better than having someone teach and show you the proper ways. It makes the learning cure a lot shorter and less painful when you can learn from other peoples past mistakes and exsperiences. Just my .02

RE: Ugly Stck goes in and don't know why??
Yeah AA5BY I'm not using the radio again. Its going to be one of those things I'll probably never know. The reason its so odd is I have been shot down before and this plane showed none of those signs at all? And all the possible things you mentioned,It had a new switch harness in it the battery's where cycled and charged the day before. I also checked them out when I got home and they are still fully charged. I range checked it pretty far. I'm at a complete loss but I know that this radio is not going in another plane. Oh yeah the radio and receiver where brand new. I put the radio in this spring. I had approx 25-30 flights on it. Oh well time to let it go and move on. Thanks for the info. Ken

RE: Ugly Stck goes in and don't know why??
It's FM.. Yeah thats the only reason I turned the receiver off was to stop it from flying away. Pretty much knew it wasn't going to be pretty. The last thing I wanted was to have some sort of accident. I must say the debree field was awesome..lol Luckily I had a decathalon 40 in the bones. So probably 10-12 hours and should be good to go. With a new radio aswell.

It's a Futaba skyport six. The transmitter and receiver battery's still have there full charge. I flew the plane at least 25 times in the past month with no problems. And I wasn't having any for the first two flights and on the third the poop hit the fan !!!

RE: Ugly Stck goes in and don't know why??
Yes I was and I was the only one there except for one other member and he was on spread spec. I was flying at half throttle when I lost conrol. Then tried everything and got no response. I knew when I shut off the radio that would pretty much end everthing.lol But I couldn't let it get away and potentially hurt/kill someone. The crazy thing is it went to wide open and stayed w/o.

Ugly Stck goes in and don't know why??
I was at my local field the other day and was in the middle of my third flight when I lost radio input? It started flying away nice and level. I backed off on the throttle and nothing just kept flying away at half throttle. No up,down, left or right input worked. So I shut off the transmitter and turned it back on it went to wide open throttle and banked over to the right and went in full bore from about 200' up. I was bummed but I was also relieved that it didn't fly away and damage or hurt/kill someone. I have no idea what went wrong. The batterys where just cycled a couple flights prior and good. Had a full charge on both transmitter and receiver . I was able to recover the important parts. The receiver battery still shows a full charge. I cleaned the motor up and fired it up no damage. It was not spread spec it was 72mhz. Any ideas ??? Because I'm at a loss as to what happened...
