RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
i3dm, that is a jetjoe 1200. i'm still testing everything and haven't flown it yet. the retracts are century jet air retracts. i saw one of the earlier posts where someone made the lg plates and glued them to the ribs. i did this with mine except i mounted them closer to the cg. i flew my first bobcat with a rossi .81 ducted fan engine so i could graduate to the turbine setup. i flew the rossi powered one probably 100 times or more. it taught me alot about the flying characteristics of this model. i found that it certainly takes off and lands a lot easier with landing gear moved forward. also the cg is at least 10.5 and i might try 11.0 with the turbine.

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
help, can you please provide me with ecu settings for my jetjoe 1200. i had it running on the bench and everything was fine. we put it on the jet and had the therma coupler in upside down without realizing it. subsequently we made several adjustments and now it will not pump kerosene. it fires up and runs on propane and the kero just starts to pump then it shuts down with error message bad start. please provide all starting point settings, especially the rpm settings. these are way off i know for sure.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
it looks like it would work better on take off and landing if the back wheels were moved up closer to the CG. i moved mine just behind the CG, but haven't gotten to fly it like that yet. like it was it was a real beast when taking off. i fly from a grass field and you really have to get on it to get enough speed and then it leaps into the air. i have a rossi .81 ducted fan engine with a llx7 apc and it really screams.

i need help with my jj1200. we test started it on the bench as per instructions we could find. the engine starts up and then flames start shooting out the back and then it shuts down. what exactly are the parameters set at to make it run right.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
i had a thunder tiger .91 with a pipe on mine. it flew nice but did not seem to fly the way i thought a jet should. i figured out how to put my .81 rossi ducted fan motor with the pipe on it and now it flys realllllly fast. this engine comes with an onboard needle valve and fine tuning is a snap. it uses more gas than the tiger so the flight ended prematurely and i had a crash landing in the corn field. while repairs were in progress (just a little balsa on the leading edge of the right wing) i bent some 5/32 piano wire to see if i could reinforce the landing gear. can't wait to get back to the field.

this opens a whole new way of using different engines, ie. ducted fan engines. i ordered another bobcat and might try a 91 os df engine.

noahb: sounds great. i bought 3 10" pusher props. 10x6, 10x7 and 10x8. makes sense to start with 6 pitch and if i have anything left to put it on i will try one of the others.

topper: thanks for sharing this flight experience. i have the 7.5 k&b engine on mine and plan on using a 10x8 prop. i will have to take off on a grass runway tho. since you are the most experinced pilot now what is you opinion on this bird flying off grass?

11" from leading edge instead of the 6.90 makes alot more sense when actually trying to balance one of these things. 6.90 from trailing edge would seem closer to this measurement. on the other hand i have very little jet experience. that's why i love these forums.

topper 5: i did the same but luckily a fellow modeller said i should turn the tank around for that same reason. also, i was lucky that the plane would not take off because too much nose heavy. has anyone actually flown one of these? i'm taking mine to the field today and i hope it doesn't come back in a body bag. btw i took the 91 off and put a K&B 7.5 w/pipe to help the balance.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
hay guys has any one checked the CG on the bobcat (WITH OUT THE MOTOR), just for fun i checked mine (RETRACTS & RADIO INSTALLED) and I'm so tail heavy it's not funny, i put mine together with a 91 magnum xls and i could not put enough weight in the front to balance at the recommended cg. can anyone enlighten me on this. seems like the instructions are way too far forward.
