RE: New 81
ORIGINAL: PlaneKrazee You'll love the way the 160 runs. Best of luck with the cowl. Any photos of what you have so far?
It hasn't ran up to my expectations so far....What I mean by this, is that It is having wayy to much varience when having plane nose hight while on idle. Also it is loading up too much for my taste after comming off idle.... That it will hesitate while doing a quick blast of the throttle... Lean out the bottom, too lean and quits when nose high.... I am not going to place this plane at risk and behind the 8-Ball....(not going down that road again) I have recieved the New updated carb today.... I will take some BEFORE and AFTER video of how it ran and runs currently.... Hopefully the new carb will be a perfect solution, and no more issues.... Again, it runs really well when Just sitting.... but with different attitude changes, It deosn't run well enough.. nothing really helps...(Muffler preasure, perry pump ect) \ Higher Nitro content seems to help,. but I do not want to have to run much at all.... So hopefully this is a great solution....

thE NEXT PART OF THE BUILD... Finally had some time to work on it.... Pulled the remaining firewall from plane... The entire area of the plane look very well made and strong... It has taken a bit longer to do the work, mainly due to not knowing how to go about Making my own engine mount/support... from scratch.... I will be using the parts that were taken out as reference/guide. But it is the SIDE Supports that gives me the most worries.... It is these side suports of the engine mount, that give the plane it's strength, and ties everything together so it can be stiff and strong.... These side pieces go from the engine mount, all the way to the Wing TUbes and connects it all together....

Hey pete.... Been a while since your flight of your p-6e hawk and your segull sukui maden and aileron disaster.... I absolutely loved your p-38 .....night fighter.... I had built a model for my son....and one day want one of the large scale.... I have but a couple of questions..... How often do you fly a year? Do you have a Simulator????? Reason I ask, is there are many full scale aircraft designers that build many aircrafts, then go out and try to fly one and get killed....due to not flying enough.... Sometimes this is simmular to rc planes as well.... I would hate to see you wreck one more of these buets.....It is too painfull... In the video, one engine didn't quit untill it was at the begining of the runway... I had thought the contrarotating props would make a difference in this setup...??? I am sure that it sounds like I am adding sailt to the wounds... I really do not want to offend...you do wonderfull work.... I just think your landings need some Nervousness out of them...[:D][;)]
ORIGINAL: rc airplane nut
ORIGINAL: ro347 Would be nice to see a .90-1.20 size Reactor. The 50CC is just too big to transport..
I agree. I have a trailer but the 50CC is too big for my wallet[sm=disappointed.gif].
IT really isn't that much bigger when comparing a 1.20 size to a 1.60size (this isn't as large as the BIG 50cc aircrafts out there) the Fuse is THicker, but not that much longer... The wings are wider, again, when you take them off the wing tube, IT doesn't matter at all... I can fit my QQ 69" yak in my HOnda Civic!!... I don't think a 50cc reactor would be that much more difficult...to get it in there... Price: I spend the same amount in money for the servos in my QQ 69" yak as a 50cc plane... The engine would be a-bit more, but I spend (just tallied this year use of fuel 12gallons) over 275$ in fuel cost... and this isn't even with as much flying as I would want to do in a year.. I could be wayy off hear... but I don't think I am...

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale
YEs 9 oz is adding things up a bit.... I have the tank 1/5 servos already so I am going to use them (I use my rudder alot) so the added strength is alright by me... I have CF main gear, tail gear, wingtube, horizontal stabs, and TI wheel axels, so I am not too worried about the added weight.... THe real weight gain is going to come by the MTW cannister inall and the headers..... SOoooo perhaps I may move the ailerons to 1-, but I have sooo many other things to do, I don't want to be bothered with the changes... I have all the original wings with servos installed except 1-main wing and rudder will need installing so it should be a quick build... I would LOVE to have the Eagle 580, but I have what I have, and it was quite a bit cheaper... . MY only thoughts about this plane is the THrows/rates.... I believe I have around 35-38 deg. on my Elevators... According to QQ Somizini, you should have around 60 Deg of throw and on the elevators to get the performance when poping in and out of elevator, harrior, to hover... I know that the caps as more sensitive to the elevator than others but I think I may cut more angle on them...for more throw.... It will be some work being they are already hinged, (althought I have new ones in a box) but I may fly it like it is and then judge..... I am looking forward to wrining this thing out....and see what it can do... I am looking at the Extreme flights new 123" Extra with a Mintor 220 quad, combo for my next aircraft... I am bummed tha it is now winter, and flying is minimal at best![:'(][:(] Anyone know if this plane would have issues flying in the winter??? Just seems that things get real brittle, and I would hate to dump this plane do to it falling apart due to just that....

I tried forever to tell him there were more things to life than being light and a 100 would be a better answer. Needless to say the plane got about 8 flights all summer because you couldn't tune the thump out of it and the plane vibrated to death. Shame to have that kind of money tied up in a plane and not happy with it. Other than that we have 2 other 85s at our field and they are the same way. RE: DA-85 or DA-100
The H9 Sukhoi SU 26MM was designed around the 85cc engine and I had interest in both the engine class and the plane..... From what I had read, there is always varience... could have been the engine needles being off?? that caused the excess vibrations... Many had, in the end, placed a 100+ twin in the airframe after there plane had vibrated apart... Flipside, I read about the new topflite p-47 with a 95cc single in it w/o any issues at all..... It may have to do with all the extra balsa...It works great for soaking it all up.. Good luck with what even you choose.... I would like to hear your results (if you go with a 80+cc engine)

THe saito 81 was close out price of 220$ at horrizon.... Thought about getting one, but I will be eventually going to all gas in my planes, and this one is too small.... I have a magnum .91 4-banger if I want a 4-stroke in it... I can't get the throws needed for serious 3d with this plane anyway....so the .51 2-stroke piped does just fine......
