RE: Ziroli AT-6 clear coat problem
ORIGINAL: AmishWarlord Did the clear coat ''fail'' gum crack and peel off up or did it just yellow? Most clearcoats will turn yellow with time so that's no bid deal. I really liked Black Baron clear coat years ago. It would turn yellow in time though. Some of the later Dynathust props had a defect. The cheap manufacturer decided to save money by leaving out 1/2 the fiberglass. They are known to break in flight. Dynathust went under because of this. Anyway that was in the 90's so you know that prop is OLD! Time to change out to a nice Master Airscrew Classic!
The clear just yellowed, So I wanna take it back down and re clear it. Also ill be putting a nice new prop on it before flight. That was the only prop I had at that time.

RE: Ziroli AT-6 clear coat problem
ORIGINAL: ESSAR You don't need to remove all the clear, just feather it out where it's not smooth with fine grit paper maybe 400 or 600, then do your touch ups, hopefully if your color match is good they will blend away seemlessly. once the aircraft is touched up scuff the whole thing with a red 3M scotch brite pad, wash with alcohol or a similar mild degreaser and re-clear. I would use a urethane type clear because typically they are more chemically resistant, But I have used water based clear with a cross linker that is also fuel resistant. here is a link for the nelson's clear, it also comes in a flat finish: <a href=''http://nelsonhobby.com/hobby_paint.php''>http://nelsonhobby.com/hobby_paint.php I am an aircraft refinisher by trade so I paint a lot of airplanes at work but I have more fun painting the models like these! Nice plane by the way, good luck. Essar.
doesn't sound too bad, i'll have to give that a try. I plan on getting it flying and then over the winter redo the clear coat on it.

Ziroli AT-6 clear coat problem
I recently traded for this AT-6 and the guy I got this from told me that the clear coat was messed up and he started to sand the clear down. Some of the really bad spots he sanded all the way to the wood but most of the places are just sanded alittle. It seams to me that the nitro fuel was eatting at the clear and turning the off white into yellow. whats the best way to fix this problem? Sand all the clear off and reclear or do I have to same all the way down and reshoot the color? Another side question whats the best servos for the main control surfaces?

I could always spray the plane with some over coating, that should help. I just dont wanna run gas im just not a fan. Maybe someday, however I do like the sound of a G62 and up. Flying weedwacker isnt my style.

Plus the saito 125, 150, 180 are all almost the same price. I think im going to see how a 150 would work on it. I could always get a 180 down the road.

ESM P51b Engine Help
I picked up a ESM P51b last night in a trade, and here is my problem. I know the DLE 30 and the PTE36 are amazing engines for this plane. But I really love the sound of the 4 stoke saito enignes. I have a CAP 231 with a 150 on it and love the sound of that thing. I try to get out every week and fly but that normally doesnt happen so I would really love to get 5-8 flights on this plane a month. So would a 180 be an ok option on this plane? or is a 150 enough to really fly this plane well? Or should I just make the jump to gas and get a pte36 or a dle30? Thanks for everyone input.

Why don't people read the forum before posting? It must have been covered ten times whats going on. Why would you post "I can't get to the market place! I wish someone would just tell me whats going on!" Well read back a few pages and you will be enlightened.

Theres a really nice website out there that converts your text from upper case to lower case. I'm an engineer and type everything in caps for legibility purposes. Sometime I forget the caps lock is on and I use this site so convert it. I know its another step but it saves people from having to read upper case. http://www.convertcase.net/

OS .91 FX tuning
I have a OS .91 FX with a macs pipe and a fuel pump, I finally got the engine to idle great and run perfect, but with a 13x8 prop I cant seam to get anything higher then 9000rpm. Also it feels like there should be more power when flying at full throttle. Is there anything in particular I should be checking out to tune it better? Also the pump was added due to the engine being mounted inverted and the carb being lower then the center line on the tank. With out the pump the fuel just pours from the carb. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

RE: AMA competitor launches! Sportfliers.com $20 per year
If someone did this already im sorry, I didnt feel like reading all 9 pages haha. I'm not sure if more then one person can have the same PO Box number but i wouldn't see why they would. I looked up P.O. Box 27740 Las Vegas, NV 89127. Some interesting things out there for this address. http://www.amerdon.com/ officially has this PO Box number but the internet is flooded with this PO Box number. Allegance Greetings LLC amerdon.com American Dream Home Solutions MEKKA INC Polydata One OMPC INC But the best one is CAROLYN CASAVANT and that was known to be a scam all over the internet a few years back... So i'm not saying its a scam just thought i would point this out. maybe someone should send them money, and hit them self with a plane, and find out for all of us?

RE: Venus II
yeah ive been flying for about 10 years maybe longer. Im only 23 now so i never really got out of those .40 sized planes. But im hoping this will be a good step for me. Ive had alot of bad luck this year i lost a 80in cub due to a battery failure, not4sale high speed crash due to high speed flutter and monday night right after take off the kaos lost engine power and fell from the sky into a corn field that was being cut down; after about 2 hours of looking i found it 10 feet up in the corn with out a mark on it... tell me that isnt a once in a life time thing but this coming monday im going to step up and i hope it goes well.

I put the throws to what the book said is that ok? also i have it perfectly balanced 6 1/2" back. Ive never flown anything this size but i have many flights on a tower hobbies kaos 40. Is it much different?

RE: Beautiful Trainer
[image]I know what you mean when it comes to a plane that get blown all over and you just wanna go up and fly. I have a Goldberg Eagle II had it for about 20 years and never had a problem. If i was looking for a trainer i would be looking at the alpha trainer by hanger 9 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN4400 But another plane that i love flying and is really a trainer at heart is the towerhobbies kaos 40. Its a 55" wing and runs great on any .46 motor. The best part is the wind doesnt move it at all. Also it has a trainer style wing so it has those self correcting tendencies that your looking for in a trainer. This plane can really grow with you too. It lands like a high wing trainer and you can land it hot like a jet. But its a great plane to learn on and i would recommend it to anyone. plus i think its around 100 bucks for a ARF from towerhobbies. Also the pics on the site look horrible so i attached one of mine.

RE: choosing a 2 stroke/4 stroke
ORIGINAL: kristj179 can anybody help .i just purchased a piper cub clipped wing from the wings maker the wing span is 62inches my question is it says engine size 4 stroke or 2 stroke .40 is it posible to install a tower hobby.46 2 stroke glo engine i was thinking a super tigre gs .40 ringed would the .46 be much different in weight or size any suggestions???
best bang for the buck i would go with the tower hobbies .46 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJA86&P=0 thats 1.75 hp and the OS la .46 is only making 1.25 hp and i think the tower hobbies engine is alot better. Theres tons of threads here about these engines. But i dont think your going to notice a difference from a .40 to a .46.

RE: Super Sportster 90/120
So 2 months have gone by and Im still worried about taking my SS up. I have flown the kaos with no problems at all for well over 3 months. I have 2 other planes sitting there almost ready to be taken up, a great planes venus II and a hangar 9 at-6. And i dont know why im so worried about stepping up. Im sure this plane (SS 90/120) will fly better then the kaos and i might even be able to see it alittle bit better too. But i might take the Venus up monday night only because i got that cheap and didnt really have to work on it.

Well i finished my supersporter with a satio 120. Ive flown a trainer and cub for years and then a plane kinda like a profile but not really, that was just put in the ground due to high speed flutter. and now im on a towerhobbies kaos and ive been flying that fine. Should i be worried that this supersportster is too much for me to take up on my own for the first time? Or does it float alot. I dont really know what to expect with this plane ive never flown anything like this
