RE: Primer/Surfacer
I have used it and it worked well, I liked it because it is white. After several years rust developed in the can!! Now I use poly prime from PCL ( pacific coast lacquer ) it's the best I have found so far.

RE: Nelson 40 Help
If your crankshaft is 19mm in diameter I believe you assemble the balls directly on the crankshaft along with the outer race of the bearing. I think you need a 30X17X7mm bearing then pop out the retainer, assemble the balls on the crank along with outer race, then pop the retainer back in, then install the crank with bearing in the case. Not completely sure because the pictures of your motor are blurred, hope I've helped.

RE: Fred Burgdorf Tribute Race
D. E. Just wanted to thank you for the painting & finishing tips. This is my latest, it's a GR7 from Matt Russell. I've eliminated the cowl & canted the motor down, got rid of the gravel collecting wheel pants and took great pains to make sure everything was either straight or aligned properly. Thanks again, Kommander.

RE: MUBU II F5D Build
Hi Dave, very nice work!! Have a question about rubbing out paint. I have a quickie wing that I have to paint the bottom. I sanded it with 1500. then buffed it out with a foam pad in a drill press. I have 2 foam pads the first says "finishing" and I used 3M medium cut with that one, then I used the other one "polishing" and 3M fine cut. The wing looks pretty good now but doesn't have that "wet look". What should I do now? Thanks Bruce

RE: QJ-2 Jett engine ?
The QJ-2 is a Quickie Jett. It is the second generation of the cast case. Most people that run the Jett use the Merlin "red" plug. Not sure about Props.

RE: wing stuck
Randy, We will see you in Phoenix, Joanne is flying 426. The wing is not that bad, just some de-lamination on the under side in the torque rod area, of course Ben was just sick about it!! Bruce

Li Po charging
Does anyone know how I can balance charge a Thunder Power 2S flight pack with an iMax B6 charger? The balance connector on the battery pack is not compatible with the charger. Also any recommendations on additional 2S flight packs for Q500 & Q40 from Hobby King? Thanks

RE: Q40 clevis
Hayes steel pin clevis. A dab of grease on the pin prior to installation is good.

If anyone cares, I ended up balancing it 2" from the front of the belly pan and it flies fine. Crudely tried to find MAC and went from there.

The thing has about an 8ft. long nose. It's a double tapered wing so I'll try 2 1/4 -2 3/8 from front of belly pan!! Thanks all.

RE: Polecat Nose
Well last weekend was the acid test for the polecat setup. Jacob was able to get 10 laps of racing without slowing down!! Although it wasn't as easy to needle as the Jett in my 2 sweet, he really didn't have any problems. I would highly recommend this mod or something similar if you like the Polecat.

RE: Lets Try To Mold A Moldie!
D.E. I don't understand the fuselage joining process. Are you relying on the wetted out 6oz. cloth to join the 2 halves together? What insures that the joint is good with no air pockets? Thanks

RE: Lets try to paint a Q40
We have a similar problem her in northern ca. In the bay area you have to go to Santa Cruz county and here in the central valley you have to go to Tuolumne County to buy paint. I'd imagine it's the same in the LA area, Probably have to go to another county in the boonies. I think there were new laws that went into effect in Jan. 2010.
