RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
Great plane, Can someone tell me the width of the Nacelles? I will put the saito fa90T inside, but this engine is 17 cm wide. So the question...does it fit in ? If it does...wow....two saito twin engines....what a sound... Thanks, Kor <!ess>

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **
ORIGINAL: dbkvn I am FINALLY ready for the twinsync...Ok, got it installed (using DX-7) in a 80" CL-415, ready to bench test everything at the field...I have a question as to how to set up the rudder steering ala float planes and non-steerable nose wheels...It is probably something REALLY simple and that is exactly why I can't seem to figure it out is that I am REALLY simple...Thanks for any help with this...Kevin Dube' in Denver, Colorado USA
it is simple...but you just have to know :-) http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/ns/manuals/wrctwinsync_manual.pdf Selector Switch Position 6: This is the mode where the use and function of an Auxiliary channel (AUX CH) is defined. The LEDs display the mode the device is in when in this programming mode. The following table allows the user to determine what mode you are in: Red Yellow Yellow ON ON ON 1. AUX CH not USED – Glow plugs based on RPM ON ON OFF 2. Independent Run Up Mode – Glow plugs based onRPM ON OFF ON 3. AUX CH turns sync on and off – Glow plugs via RPM ON OFF OFF 4. Rudder steering of throttles – Glow plugs based on RPM OFF ON ON 5. AUX channel controls GLOW PLUGS (default) OFF ON OFF 6. No dead stick detection w/AUX controlling glow plugs You wil have mode 4...so the red led must be on, and the yellow leds must be off. Just push the buttons until the leds are on the mode you want. Good luck

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
thats why I chose the .90 instead of the .60 twin....the .90 is more powerfull ( the .60 Twin is like a .40 two stroke), the .90 has almost the same dimensions and the weight is less then the .60. ok....2 of those is a little heavy....but i can put glow battery's etc in the back of the fusulage to get the cg right. but the sound.....ow man....... kor

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
Hi Alain, it is not so bad after all....I have been looking for the weights of those enigines. A saito .72 = 470 Gram the .62A who I have now on my Twin Otter = 420 gram the .90 twin = 720 gram so (2 * 720) - (2 *470)= 500 gram......that is to overcome..... when I use my own saito .62 than the differance woulde be (2*720)-(2*420)= 600 gram a little playing with receiver, servos, batteries would do je job to get the cg on the right place I let you know what I decide......but oh man.....2 of those twin 4 strokes exact in sync.....mindblowing kor

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
ok thanks. I have the twin comanche from TOPP.....and its a litte smaller....buth the width of the nacelles is 16 cm...so then only the cilinderheads are comming out. https://ssl-id.de/rc-tronics-topp-rippin.de/Shop/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=158&osCsid=7psotsvtnp32c9uuhvftro0l62 Now I am flying with the H9 twin Otter with 2 x .62 saito 4 strokes...with twin sync.....great sound. but the comanche with 2 twin engines....so in total 4 cilinders :-)...... oh...what a sound. Thanks...I thought because the seugull piper is a little bigger the engines would fit better....but that is not the case....then I am going for my "top" commanche :-) Thanks, Kor

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
Power enough Alain with those 2 twins....zo even the retracts can go up The looks is so mutch better with retracts....... I will try my comanche with 2 dummys of 720 gram (the weight of the .90 saito twin)....lets see what the cg does....and if I can correct it. You wil hear more later Kor

RE: One engine out fuel shutoff
Ok...but then it will only work if one of both engines wil consume all of his fuel. When the engine fails otherwise (broken plug) then there is still fuel in the line...and the other engine keeps running. And there always has to be a fuel line between the left and right engine. But...interesting concept.....I will try it on the test table ...try if you are right Kor

RE: One engine out fuel shutoff
This won't work....it will work if the engines are close together...but in this case the engines are in the left and right wing...so they are at least 2 feet from eachother. If one engine stops the other one has 2 feet fuelline fuel left, and wil run too long, and it will never work with 2 tanks...as told before...2 engines, 2 tanks and so on. Only 1 option and that is the twin sync system. When one engines stops the other one follows...until idle...if then one dies, the other stays at idle, and comes only allive when you pull the throttle down...than you have control again. So engine 2 reacts instandly to engine 1 or the other way arround. As i told before...with this system you can train yourself with flying on one engine...other advantidge....both engines are always in sync...great sound...never have to adjust...the system does the sync. RE: One engine out fuel shutoff
You can install the twin sync system from Bill Wike. This system wil turn the remaining engine instandly to idle. Than you can deside what to do....turn it off too, or give more power with just enough rudder, and fly with one engine...the dissision is than up to you. You can even set this system on a 3 way switch, switch left...left engine idle and control over the right engine...switch right the other way...and switch in the middle sync's the engines. With this option you can train yourself with a dead engine...one advantidge...engine is not dead..only idle...so when it goes wrong...switch in the middle an you have control over both engines again. Good luck, Kor

RE: Engines for Hangar 9 Twin Otter
Of course is electric power easy, clean and fast to start...but there is one dimension missing...and that is sound. The kit is disigned for .25-.40 2 stroke engine's and that gives good sound...but 2 four strokes are sounding even better. We fly from grass, so the .25 engines are on the small site..so there should be .40 2 stroke engines...and when you want the same power, the 4 strokes have to be at least .10 bigger. So the saito .50 should give the same power as the .40 2 strokes only with a far better sound. Because the Saito engines have the carb. on the back the engine is longer than the 2 stroke and the nacelles would not fit...so we have to make some changes. The saito .50, .56 , .62 .72 and even the .82 have the same lenght...so for al those engines these changes wil work. Take a look at the pictures how I made the changes....it looks great...the .62 saito fits great inside the nacelles. I made a short exhaust manifold so the mufflers stays very close to the nacelle. it looks great....sounds great, and because there is enough power I can fly with only half throttle. I made today a flight of 10 minutes, and the original 200 cc tanks were only half empty...so I can fly at least 15 minutes. So with a minor work those saito 4 strokes fits perfect. Good luck, Kor

CG hangar9 twin Otter
Hi guy's,When you have the CG on your twin otter good, and the plane fly's perfect...what happens when you are on the grond and pushes the tail against the ground. 1. The plane stays heavely with tail on the ground. 2. The plane is almost in balance but stays with the tail on the ground. 3. The plane is almost in balance but slightly goes back to the nosewheel. 4. The plane goes heavely back to his nose wheel. I am curious if your plane reacts the same as mine :-) Kor

RE: Kit for twin Saito 62's?
Piper twin comanche from topp is also a good idea... https://ssl-id.de/rc-tronics-topp-rippin.de/Shop/product_info.php?products_id=158&osCsid=553ehcjndujarsn1b7g9tn1j30 @fledermaus. ( bat. :-) )...the 4 strokes in the twin otter are great...the sound of 2 four strokes is so much better than the 2 strokes. The .62 saito fits inside the cowlings...no problem...and they don't have to run at full power...just half throttle and it flies just fine. The fuel consumption is also very low...so you fly longer, and with better/less noise as with the 2strokes. :-)

RE: Engines for Hangar 9 Twin Otter
I have those saito's already in my possession :-)....one is in use already...the other one is new. The intention was that they come in the Marutaka Cessna 337 Skymaster.... but I have to finish this plane...and thats gonna take a while. Thats why I am looking for a RTF twin plane where I can use those engines...and this twin Otter looks great. I think I am gonna order one.....I see in your pics that the engine fits with some modifications....the mufflers....whell...perhaps the original saito's or also those turbo mufflers...if they are not too noisy. Hi guy's... I have the original marutake p38 kit...it is more han 10 years old. Finally I have the time to finish the kit . The kit was disigned for a fixed landing gear. Did any of you changed this, and built retracts in it ?...is there space for retracts and is it keeping it's strenght. Thanks, Kor

RE: Cessna Skymaster 336 (Royal Kit )
Thanks man....I will cut out all that excess balsa.... oops.....two .70 engines....that is also heavely over powered if you realize that the kit was disigned for 40-40, 35-40, 35-35 or even 29-45 2 stroke engine's I bought my skymaster more than 10 years ago...and in the beginning the building wend fast, but then personal things happened, and the building stopped. Now I will restart the building....and I will make some pictures and will place them here. As I said...two .62 saito's...emsjomar sync system...landinglights and of course navigation lights ....and I am thingking of electric starters :-) Here a picture how far the building already is...picture 2 and three...almost ready 10 years ago...pictures are taken in 2002 the first picture is how its gonna be Thanks, and greetings, Kor

RE: Cessna Skymaster 336 (Royal Kit )
Hi guy's, a little life in an old topic Any of you still flying with the marutaka cessna skymaster 336 ?? My skymaster stood on the building table for a lot of years, now finally I have the time and the courage to finish it First 1 wanted te power it with a .50 saito 4 stroke on the front and a .62 saito 4 stroke on the back....but because mine is a bit heavier I wil power it now with two .62 4 stroke saitos. But I have a question for you......What have you done with that abundance of balsa....look at my pictures....this is the engine room on the back.... a lot of balsa on the insite....pity of all that extra weight. Dit you leave it there ??...or have you removed all the access of balsa, and how did you do that ? it's a beautiful plane.....but a lot of work....and specially a lot of sanding With regard, Kor from the Netherlands sorry if my english is not all the way correct
