RE: Duratrax Firehammer MT
ya, DDM is a well respected dealer. they have huge invontory and are probly some of the nicest guys around. they are also sponsors on other forums as well. dont forget about the coupon code for your 5% discount!! (hbf) parts availability will be priority number 1. as you know, anything you get will break. like moo, i went with the ramps after having a few FG's and 2 HPI 5b's. i now have 3 ramps and would buy another one if i could. for more info on the ramps check out: redcatrampage.com rampagehopups.com

RE: Long term storage? (and a servo question?)
for the servos i use a hitech 745. they are bash proof and work perfect. i store mine in the house so they always are empty of any fuel. i leave the battery with whatever charge it has on it but always cycle the pack one time before taking it out again. to keep them off the ground i pull the tires off and hang it on the wall in my hobby room and spray whatever bearing i can with wd-40 for protection. dont forget about the transmitter. pull the batteries out and either ditch or store them. ive never had a problem and they start up on the second pull.

RE: ONE OFF CUSTOM/BEETLE ROOF EXIT PIPE..
ok bra. no big deal. i did read the post. i saw the vid and the pics finished off(priceless). i'll just leave at what you say. redcats are clones. all off-road pipes are junk. good luck with your fab work. all the best to ya. oh ya. and that nutech is a clone of a clone. just like that stainless steel(?) pipe.

RE: ONE OFF CUSTOM/BEETLE ROOF EXIT PIPE..
lol.. im not sure what to think about that stainless steel(?) one-off pipe you have their bud. it apears a though it is a knock off pipe of the fg on-road(nutech). on-road pipes are diffrent then off-road pipe. i cant imagine anyone really wanting less low end torque. good luck to you and your "fabricator" "krypt"

RE: *** Thinking Of Selling My Baja ***
ORIGINAL: ArancioC5 $4-500? No way. LOL. Dude, 1. why for a redcat? 2. $800 MINIMUM. HBF.com. Sell it there. Less then $7-800 and you are a fool. Bajas keep value, and I think you are making an enourmous mistake selling it for a POS redcat.
the POS remark is pulled from where? let me guess. you know someone that has one? 800 minumum? you can buy them brand new for 850. im not gona give you an education as it seems as though you are pretty swift as it is

RE: xrc buggy
i would agree with selling it, but its only worth about $300.00 and they are hard to sell.. so just work with what you have. and im sure bently is talking about the fg baja, unless you enjoy waiting for parts and getting reemed with prices..LOL..

RE: what can i get
you specified racing.. what class or do you have both classes. the major thing is to see what local dealers you have in your area. you can buy a great model and have no product support. if your thinking about racing then the fg baga would be a good choice, but the MT' are pretty much only good for a straight line. also look into the mcd's. they have a better 4wd system then the fg. (in my opinion). but again, most important is product support.

RE: Radio for Baja SS - Futaba or Spectrum
i would also recomend futaba. the 3pm is a great radio. spectrums have too many issues. and somthing funny happens when you hook up a 3rd cahnnel kill switch. no HSR.

RE: xrc buggy
well, since it was free and you didnt spend the hard earned money on it, i will say its not all that great, and there are very little to no part upgrades for it. some fg parts will fit, but you'll have to experament. im pretty positive that fg gears will fit. as far as pipes? very limited. you can try some of the fg on-road style pipes, but the body will get in the way. i think the motor sits too low for an X-can exhoust. the zehaoh 23 will bolt right on. the xrc motors have horible porting wich really kills any power. you can look into fg front suspension arms. i think they will fit, but im not sure. the only place i know for parts is in the states. you can ask them if they have any aussie dealers http://www.imexrc.com/servlet/StoreFront

RE: Baja pictures and the place I run it at....
that place is wild!! your really lucky to have a spot like that. i have good areas to run, but they are driving distance. anywhere from 15-30 minutes away. so its kind of a pain to pack up all three rigs just to test-n-tune. even my street is too small to run on.. lucky son of a gun!!

RE: X-Cans or DDM tuned pipe
the X-can is really not a great purchase. they are super loud(louder then a dom) and only add a small amount of low end torque. the longer stingers also rob some of the power and constantly vibrate loose. i removed the stingers to get more power and it is now so loud i dont like to drive it. i have 2 side dom pipes on other rigs and they are so amazing it is almost hard to explain. more torque, more noticable power band and higher revs with such a sweet sound. also, that little bit of "muscle" sticking out the side/back simply means respect. a ddm pipe is worth every penny.

hey jiga. how you lik'in them mcd's? i think they are a pain. have them in my MT. i lost 2 pins with that silly set screw and "spun" an mcd shaft. i havent had any major issues with the redcat drive shafts. i just use green loc-tite.

RE: Firehammer mt body
the stock shell doesnt fit well. the wheel wells are way short and it looks out of scale. they also crack VERY easy. the fg bodies fit perfect and hold up very good as well. i always like the monster beetle shell. looks pretty cool

RE: Call me crazy...
a shock with no oil is only half a shock. do they really leak oil that bad? dont they have seals? thats one of the things i like about my redcat shocks. they just dont leak at all, but they are for a diffrent line, so i cant comment on the smaller ones. i would think they wouldnt work so well with out oil. kinda like an old tamiya frog with friction springs. put oil in it. if it leaks, work on the seals.

wich models would you be thinking of putting them in? the 5th scale line could use a radio, but that would bring the price up as its an ARTR(servos only). would they be sold seperatly as well?

a little 5thscale action(new redcat vid)
i thought you crazy redcat nut jobs(like me) would enjoy my latest vid. http://www.hobbyzip.com/videos/942/its-like-suicide-redcat-rampage-tt.html and here is one of my MT. its hard to get good footage with the MT. even though they are both just as fun, it seems like the truggy loves the camera. http://www.hobbyzip.com/videos/943/redcat-rampage-mt.html

RE: 1/5 scale
i would go for the rampage, but i dont think the pro is worth the extra cash. there pretty good as is. i have 3 ramps. my first one i equipped with gobs of alloy and im still knowhere nere the price of a mt pro. plus the redcat pipe will need to be upgraded and the alloy cage is for the birds. save your money for better radio gear, pipe, metal gears and a decant top end(motor).. with all that you'll still have some cash for a little bit of alloy upgrades.

RE: bent front dog bone in my volcano
i would order a set of d-bones to replace the bent one. but save the bent shaft for another spare. im sure its fine like that. one of my rigs has a slightly bent d-bone in the rear. the thing is.. just as easy as that popped out, you could easly "fling" a d-bone completly out and they are hard to find in the grass, so spares are always good, but dont sweat running it if its only slightly bent. remember thou, becouse its bent it will be more likly to come out again. you have to be carefull not to crack a drive hub when it binds on the end of the drive cup like that. to help for the next time, try centering the drive shafts with some fuel tubing, but make sure you dont bind anything up as the d-bones still need to move. do this with the shocks off so you make sure everything still spins and moves freely

well, since you said that. it sounds like a simple case of your glow plug being bad. put a glow plug in it. it will most likly be just fine after that

RE: Buy now or wait for the new line?
if it was me, i would wait. i think your dealer is giving you the best price he can on the vortex, but maybe he can do something when he gets the new 1/8. just let him know that you want/need it as soon as possible. a few of the reasons i would wait for the new rig: i think its gona be wild!! your budies are running traxxas and stuff? you NEED to bring your "A" game. you said it yourself. the vortex is smaller.. size matters, and your buddies will remind you. dont show up to a pistol fight with a cap gun.. PACK SOME HEAT!! the lipo's arent kiddies play, but just get as much good info and details as you can. you''l make some mistakes, but thats the only way you'll learn with the lipo's. the parts may not be as cheap as the vortex, but they shouldnt be much more. so ya, i would wait.

RE: Prospective 2nd hand owner - What to look out for
-tuning the motor is very simple for beginers and hardly ever done as long as nothing changes like upgrades or oil/fuel mix -when inspecting a used rig, always look at the bottom of the chassis and front/rear suspension arms for heavy, deep scratches. its not a deal breaker, but it will tell you how it was driven -check the spark plug for color. if its white, or grey then it was run way to lean and could have excessive wear. if its black or brown, then it is eather too rich or ok. price should be adjusted if it was run lean, but isnt a deal breaker. -ask how many tanks have been thru it. stearing/throttle servos start to fade away between 10/15 hours. take that into consideration with the reciever pack as well. 1 tank is about 35/45 minutes. find out how he charged the reciever pack. the stock wall charger doesnt do well for the battery, but no issues with a peak charger. -our 2 stroke motors get about 12 gallons if not more. and rebuilding them is cheap. so dont worry, as long as it starts -fancy upgrades hardly ever ADD value to the machine. but a tuned pipe and aftermaket servo's are a plus -wiggle the wheels. 5b's are known to have excessive "wobble" in the wheels. dont worry about that good luck, but most of all.... have fun
