Trespasser hits Dog with plane unedited vid
Have you ever got sick of the pesky wind, and just gone anywhere you can, just to try and get some flight time, somewhere you shouldn't be? I was eager to test out my new foam camcorder helmet design and on a howling windy day, i went awol :) The Spitz being hit was actually just off shot, luckily the beloved dog was unharmed. Ohhhh she knows what sorry means, as i seem to say it to her an awful lot:) http://youtu.be/7etimH2XCSc

Cyberman caught Torque Rolling on Dog Video
Having packed in the hobby for over ten years, i was pleasantly surprised how quickly i was back to my previous form. Even though i had also changed plane type I.C. to electric and designed my own foamie due to a lack of funds. This video is shared for fun, not to be taken seriously please, any gaffs welcomed. http://youtu.be/hNhxNFUiXGg

RE: Can a RC Plane surf?
I get you dude, the problem is it takes a lot of time to film, and make a video for youtube, i do this for the benefit of credible fun loving sharing guys like you, but as at the flying field, there is always (ALWAYS) one shit head. Yes you are right, these bone heads are usually jealous coz they can't even dream of flying like you can. Sorry, but the arseh**** like Rookie3D (has a ponytail, a true sign of a real tool).

RE: 3D Tricks
I deleted the video because of idiots commenting about 'why do't you get a helicopter' and 'you have no regard for any rules'. Soooo sadly the dudes that would have had a great laugh and smile as usual have suffered from the negativity and jealousy of those shidheads. Mainly Rookie3D on youtube, a real class moron.

RE: 3D Tricks
Do you mean new tricks? I can do a torque roll circle, i.e. while torque rolling but in minute extra inputs of elevator and rudder to make the plane do a circle (as you are torque rolling). NOTE i do NOT mean a rolling harrier, the plane IS vertical, there is NO lean on the plane. A section of this is on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI&feature=relmfu For a laugh, i lost my plane once flying through an industrial door (lots of wind blowing through a factory and it unexpectedly took off again after landing. A trick i did not intend to do ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAFPv1daZ8w&feature=relmfu

Thanks Bro, as a general dig at the main, (not everybody) we take this hobby toooo seriously, it is supposed to be a bit of fun, glad you dig it.

Can a RC Plane surf?
I reckon, with an extended leg and some swivel attachment, it may be possible to put a small surf board on a plane and surf. Who will be the first, the race is on..... My practicing and messing about can be seen on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAFPv1daZ8w Note it must be in a crest of a wave or on top of a wave, and noooooo giro's.

RE: Gyros for 3D flying?
Dual rates and expo aren't exactly defeating the learning curve or skill level. If you want to cheat, why not take cocaine as well to help you get bigger balls???

RE: What seperates the diffrent typs of 3D Birds
I have designed many 3D birds and the main difference (as in flying ability/style) is the position of the wing. This has two aspects, the moment arm, i.e. a short moment arm gives a much more responsive bird. But the position of the wing is also important. A low wing gives difficulties in handling, particularly at low speed manoeuvres, the plane seems more readily to spin on it,s axis (which of course is why trainers have high wings), in 3D a high wing gives more stability between manoeuvres. For a mid wing this is a good balance, however some models are very different to others in this configuration. I think it more affects the prop wash than the low/high wingers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

Get as low and close as you can, try and fly more bold every time and if the sweat is not pouring of your forehead you are not pushing yourself enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: How Many Times Have You Crashed?
Michael Schumacher once said, if i am not making a couple of mistakes every year, i am not pushing myself hard enough. One thing most 3D's have in common (besides talent, skill, reactions of a snake) is BALLS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: 225MG
I had a crash using these while i was flying right next to my feet, it was a windy day and the servos on the wing were particularly going full tilt (100 km an hour back and forth). The plane crashed, and i knew 100% it wasn't me, i quickly inspected the plane and a servo had failed, i took it out to change the gears and it was hot, REAL hot. I changed the servo and before flying, tested the servos by moving the ailerons quickly from side to side for five minutes, well th eplan was to try for five minutes but the servo burnt out again at 4 minutes. BE WARNED, for 3D, these will kill your plane, and possibly kill SOMEONE. Note, Hitec must know about this problem becoz they rembursed me without so much as wanting witnesses, video evidence or anything!!!!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: Can servos be too fast?
For 3D flying, no no no, the faster the better. Many times i have crashed, or nearly crashed, and it was not my reactions which were slow, it was the servos. Since i upgraded my servos to faster ones, i have hardly any crashes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: How do I land Dead Stick under 50'
Yes, flying low seems brave to those people who fly in th eclouds, but there is sense in this, a dead stick low to the ground often just breaks your servo teeth! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: The Learning Curve...
Every plane is different, and every pilot is different, it is not something you can have a formula for, except for something like 1) first get your c of G correct, 2) get your throws correct 3) ........... Practise, practise and be brave is my formula http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: Which on to start with
Get something which is easily repairable, this isn't always foamies. Something with a short moment arm which some of the so called 3D models don't have! don't look at the beginning of this clip, but after a few minutes are some home designs, sometimes i use the wing or fuselage of a ARTF and make a new design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: How Long Will It Take To Learn ?
You are only limited by your imagination, reactions, talent, dedication and BALLS. Start getting low, oddly you will have less crashes when you are close to your self and low to the deck. Also, iffffffff you do have a crash close and low, you will KNOW what you did wrong, often when you are high or some distance away, you might think you know what you did wrong, but actually you DONT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: Why Is 3D Hated?
JEALOUSY isn't it, some chaps fly for 40 years and can not do knife edge!!!!!! A rolling circle to them is only a dream. The sad thing is, they just think they are a little below average, they don't realize just how much skill, practise and balls this type of flying requires, ohhhhhhhhhh and i forgot reactions of a viper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTtxStJJyFI

RE: Proper 3D prop selection
Hi, submikestar, your opinion is wrong i,m afraid. The reason you state there SEEMS to be many engines underproped is because were 3Ders, we dont need and dont want the torque of a big prop. We need 'throtteability' for control (80% of the skill is with the throttle - thats when 3D!) and you get this from a slightly smaller dia. prop. Also preferable is a lightweight prop, wood being lightest. A heavy prop has more momentum, I.E. slows down slower, and speeds up slower, it is AMAZING the difference a prop can make.

RE: 3D Servo requirements?
Why is it when advising on which servos for 3D people forget the importance of speed, some high torque servos are VERY slow and hence are not only no good for 3D but dangerous, Rudder yes requires the most torque but also requires the MOST SPEED. If you do nothing else but buy some fast and torquey servos for rudder only you wont go far wrong (futaba 9404-?).
