RE: Wrc Impreza projekt
may i ask where did you get your blueprints?? i am about to start oon a body for a 1/4 2012 wrx and am looking at options on how to make the body. also how did you cut up the body into sections to make that wood buck you formed with foam? looks fantastic!!

RE: Couple questions before diving into homade rc
ORIGINAL: MMG Do lots and lots of research. And I mean lots. Check the 1/4 scale forums. You will see pics on what the frames are made of and their design. Also the front and rear suspension.Their design and material used. You can google 1/4 parts.Find out who sells them or who will make you a custom piece. Then there's the shocks, rims and tires.Getting back to the frame.Do you want round or square tubing, usually 3/8" o.d tubing will do.There is alot of guys on the internet that make their own car .From the chassis to the body. Keeping it under 40 pounds, not likely. My quarterscale stock car is around 30Lbs and thats with a lexan body.Your adding alot more extra parts .Alot of work a head of you.
Well i know all about having alot of qork ahead of me, currently building a 67 camro from the ground up, only origial sheetmetal left is the trunk, and its half gone. Second i was already thinking 3/8' round tubing so it looks like i was on the rigjht track. I think with the right design i will be able to keep it under my goal of 40 lbs, thats what prototypes are for , i think i will build the first chassis out of steel so i can get the hang of working with smaller tubing and finalize my chassis design, and i could be the snot out of it for tyesting to see what works for the final chassis. And lastly, im still clueless on which way i want to go about making the body, as the 2012 wrx adopted the widebody of the sti in 2011, which as beautiful as it is, is going to be a PITA to maske it look good when i do make the body. I may look into seeing if i can find some blueprints like the fella did making the 08 hatchback.

Couple questions before diving into homade rc
I am going to build a 1/4 version of my 2012 subaru wrx, and have a few questions before i dive head first. Which material would be best to use, steel or aluminum, i have a tig welder so i can weld both. I plan on doing a tube style chassis with a full sheetmetal undercarriage and wheel tubs to keep dirt out. Also my goal is for it to weigh in less then 40lbs, and i would like for it to be decently quick. Are there any motors that are like$200 that can be upgraded in the future for more power. I would like to be able to get up to 50 with good acceleration, not just top end. Also i plan on going AWD just like my 1:1. who makes a transmission and fropnt and rear diffs that can handle a gas motor. i looked at MCDs website but they dont have the cases, just the front and rear differential gear. im completely clueless on how to do the body, still looking at options and ideas.

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
do you think it would be possible to send it to a plotter to make the cutouts in paper as templates and then cut each piece out by hand, (yes it would be time consuming but i dont have access to a water jet ). also do you know of any type of free program that could be used instead of solidworks?

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
ive git a question, i have been looking into desiging a body and making a plug so i could make multiple bodies incase i ruin a few. i have seen this process before and am cusrious as to how to do it. is there some special program you have to design the body in and then it send it to some type of machine that cuts the foam slices into the correct shapes?? the body design looks great, i personally would like a lower roof line, guess thats my exoctic car appeal comeing out haha. progress looks great cant wait to build my own 1/5 scale trophy truck, as your first version inspired me[:D]

using a pocketbike motor and auto trany
for the last few weeks i have been researching about building a homemade large sclae trophy truck. i thought about pocket bikes and then i came across pocketbikes unlimited.com. they have 110cc engines with 4 speed auto or manual transmissions for $285. my thought was that if this wlittle motor can push a 80 pound kid and 20 pound 20 around at 20-30mph it would be great for a scale trohy truck. my questuions is would the 4 speed auto transmission be able to be utilized in a rc truck?? it seems like a perfect deal for my application.

What motor has lots of torque for full time offfoad/mudding revo 3.3
im lookiong to build a revo roller into a big monster truck to just have fun with when i go camping and do some rock crawling, mudding and a few jumps with. im going to have some really big tires onit (not sure which ones yet) and could use the extra torque whenever i go crawlng with it. i have a friend who has a picco .26 and the thing is ridiculously fast but could it be geared down to use that power as low end? Basially what the best motor? pipe combo for torque on a revo 3.3

where to get shaft driven diff. for solid rear axle.
oon i will be starting construction of my 1/5 scale version of my truck, a colorado extreme, and i am wantng to use a solid rear axle instead of independent rear suspension. where can i buy a diff that is shaft driven that will hold up to the power of a gas engine?? does anyone actually make a shaft driven diff. in large scale? if not where could i buy gears to construct my own?

RE: British sports car, project.
vassili, love the progress so far everything looks great. but i would like to pick at your brain for a moment if you dont mind. After seeing this project it has inspired me to finally take a chance at making a sclae replica of my truck (06 colorado extreme). how did you correctly align the placement of the headlights and keep the lines level for the front grill, tailights etc. im thinking of taking a similar path as to how you made your mold but with a few variations. do you think it would be easier to use modeling clay to make the final form over the wood buck?

RE: engine from harbor freight
well i just found out my local hobby shop orders from horizon hobby which sells zenoah engines so it look like that will be the route i will be taking how fast will it be able to push it? and yes i can weld. i have access to my dads mig and tig welder as well as a plasma cutter and drill press. would it be too heavy bui;ding the tube frame from stell or would i have to go with alumnium

RE: engine from harbor freight
i looked on the site and they dont have it on there website. all i no about the motor is that it is 79cc 7600rpms and 2.5 hp in a blue box ha. would lowes or home depot have sprockets. the truck is going to be about 40-50" long and about 18" wide and about 16" where the cab part of the body is. to use the bike sprockets i could simpley use my dads drill press and drill holes to put a nut and bolt through to mount a mounting plate. also for the chassis. should i make it out of tubing or use a flat sheet of metal. it will be driven on road.

RE: easiest/ simplest way to make 1/4 body
so after i made a mold out of foam or clay, i lay fiberglass directly onto it to make the female mold, or do i put something between it cuz it seems like it would stick together and crack when trying to take it apart.

RE: engine from harbor freight
im pretty sure it does have one i went and looked at it today but dont remeber if it had a clutch. im pretty sure it did. i said i was going to use mountain bike sprockets so there are a bunch of different sizes i can choose from. i was thinking of maybe doing like a multiple chain and sprocket setup instead of just 1 sprocket on the engine and one on the rear axle.

engine from harbor freight
would a 2.5hp 79cc engine from harbor freight be sufficient enough to push a 1/4 or 1/5 to 45 mph. im goint to be using the sprockets from a multispeed mountain bike to gear it properly. i think the max rpms was 7600 for the engine. im not looking to break any speed records just build a 1/4 scale version of my chevy colorado. would i jave to gear it so far down to where i dont have any speed at all with this engine?? im going to be making the body out of fiberglass so its going to be al ittle heavy.

is it posibble? would the reciever burn up since its getting power from both esc's? would it be better to use a y-adapter?

RE: if i were going for highest top speed..which bl system under 300
sorry idk where i got 4'' from they are actually 5.5'' (tires). with the rustler trany mounted where the original tranny was with no diff.,5.5'' tires, 2200kv motor, 6s, and a 36T spur and 24T pinion it says it should be going 195 at 48,850 motor rpms... yeah that doesnt seem right. and for the keepong it under control thing. i have an idea on how to keep it on the ground i got that covered.

RE: if i were going for highest top speed..which bl system under 300
well after looking at the ratios and such, i think i am going to use the rustler tranny and then get some hpi phtlines which are 4' diameter. if i go the 2200 route i plan on running 6s so 22.2 volts and im not sure what you mean on the layout.

if i were going for highest top speed..which bl system under 300
well i took my duratrax evader st apart a while back and got out of rc but i recently bought a mini erevo and got back in. i want to use my duratrax chassis as a speed demon setup. im going to be using the brushless emaxx tranny to power it as the older chassis wont be able to stand the power of a large brushless system. is there a better system than the mamba max pro w/ 2200kv motor for under 300?? my goal is 100mph

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
wow with atock gearing and stock tires it says i should be doing about 83. and with the opt. 45 spur and 31 pinion it says 101.. but that is also spinning the motor at 80,000 rpms, double what is recomended. no matter how much i changed the gearing the rpms never moved, is the only way to change the end rpms by changing the gearing in the front and rear diffs? hell i would love to see that kinda speed but i just dont think it is realistic.
