RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
I was just reviewing the servos people are using for the elevons. I have Hs-5245mg servos that I'm running at 6.0 volts. They have 76.4 oz torque. Is this a powerful enough servo for this model? Larry

RE: Futaba failsafe help
Thanks guys, I figured it out. With your atv set at 100% in transmitter, throttle and trim at low turn on transmitter while holding the button on back of module. This will set the failsafe to low throttle and trim on the transmitter. Now, change your atv in your transmitter to 50% and re learn the ecu. This worked for me. Not sure if it is correct, but I tested with the gsu, and ran the turbine and it worked. Larry

Futaba failsafe help
Im having a hard time setting failsafe on my older futaba 9c I have the 2.4 tm-7 module. The radio has to be run in ppm mode, and when that is done the failsafe option goes away in the transmitter. Can someone give me a step by step instruction how to correctly do this? Thanks in advance.
ORIGINAL: BaldEagel
ORIGINAL: larry11 What did you do to the exhaust cone?
Larry read the post again, I packed up the exhaust cone end of the turbine, not the exhaust cone. Mike
Gotcha, so you shimmed up the rear of the turbine, closest to trailing edge of wing. So with slightly more up thrust, should it help or hinder in taking off as well? Larry

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
ORIGINAL: siclick33 You need to be landing as slow as possible to avoid the bounce. I'm not sure if you've flown deltas much but they don't land like normal models. If you're not holding a lot (almost all) of up elevator on touchdown then you're not slow enough. The Ducty will float on forever and if you try and force it down early it won't like it.
Actually, I don't have a whole lot of stick time flying deltas. When I was landing I probably had it flared around 1/2-2/3 amount of elevator available. I was just afraid of stalling it if I flared any more. Also, some other observations of mine when flying is when turning or banking at low to medium throttle it really likes to slow down and lose altitude. Is this normal with deltas? And, does it stall easily and typically what happens in a stall with deltas? Larry

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Yes, I am using the rudders as air brakes. Also, before touching down I am giving elevator input to try to flair it a bit. It looks like a greased landing until it pops back up and down a couple times.

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Landing tips needed. Hey guys, I had a chance to get a few more flights in and on the landings I was experiencing the dreaded kangaroo hop. Any landing suggestions with this model to help eliminate it? I do have a slightly larger front wheel to give it a positive aoa, and it is nose heavy when landing.

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Baldeagle and siclic33, Thanks for quickly answering my posted questions. I had a successful maiden earlier yesterday. I ended up bending my own landing gear out of thicker piano wire, and put on larger wheels. I measured my reflex after landing and I ended up with 13.5 mm reflex due to my forward cg. Larry

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
ORIGINAL: siclick33
Also, why shim the rear of turbine and not the front? By shimming the front wouldn't it want to give the aircraft lift rather than push it down? Just curious.
If you shim the back of the turbine up then it will push down at the back, which lifts the nose up. If you shim the engine so it is pointing down then it will push the nose down. How much elevator travel do you have? Maybe a bit more 'up' throw will help to lift the nose.
I have around 20 mm elevator travel. Is it common to shim it on this model?

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Thanks mike, I'll give it another try this weekend with bigger wheels and stronger struts. Do you think I should move my cg from where it's at now? It's about 5-8mm'ish in front of recommended cg. (Nose heavy) Or let it be?
ORIGINAL: BaldEagel
ORIGINAL: siddus74 I bent the rear legs forward so they are back to 90 deg. and also the the front leg as well .. I aslo put a larger wheel on the front and a couple of washers under the rear turbine strap .. takes off much better now ... many thanks for the advice. Scott.

Thanks, I was wondering if I slightly shimmed the rear of the turbine, once airborne how will that affect the trim? Ie: should I give it a little more reflex to compensate? Or am I over thinking and over complicating it? Also, why shim the rear of turbine and not the front? By shimming the front wouldn't it want to give the aircraft lift rather than push it down? Just curious. Larry

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Well, I attempted to maiden the ducty today and was unsuccessful. I could not get it to rotate and take off. I'm flying from a 600 ft cut grass field. Each attempt it appeared as the faster it got going the harder it would push into the ground and flex the landing gear. And this is with either 2 or 2 1/2 wheels and the turbine is mounted parallel to the bottom of wing. I'm not sure what I should do??? Possibly even larger wheels and stiffer landing gear? On a full tank my cg is about 3-5mm forward of recommended cg and 1/3 tank is about 8-10 mm forward of recommended cg. I really don't want to have to change locations of batteries to get the cg more aft if I don't have to. With that being said, is this playing a big part in not rotating on takeoff? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Well, I got the ducty together and almost ready to maiden. My cg with about 1/4-1/3 full tanks at 610mm from nose tip. About 10 mm forward. I assume that that will be ok?? With a full tank it will probably be closer to 620mm. Should I be fine with the cg like this? Also, what are you guys using for aileron and elevator throws? I have the reflex, I read here that around 10-12mm reflex is about right. Thanks Larry

RE: Noise issues at club field
Does your club bylaws specify wheteher or not the model has to be running to meet the 99 decibel level? [;)] Im not being sarcastic but that was a loophole at a local club. The rules were not specific and didnt state wheteher or not the engine had to be running to be within the decibel requirement. The rule just stated the model could not be louder then a certain decibel. So we had them check it while the engine was shut off. It did piss off the noise nazis. [8D]
