RE: RIO 51
Hey there; So I see your interested in the rio.I bought one awhile back and the fuji motor is garbage along with the exhaust.I scrap both items and had Goped G2D modified by Marine-Specialties in Houston Texas. The exhaust is now a Warehouse hobbies wet tuned. After breaking it in I installed a water pump from Proboat and a clutch system from marine-specialties.I also put a 3 blade prop on it along with ajustable trim tabs.I do not like adjusting them with pliers, that's hard on the transom.I got rid of the tr/rx and went with a 2.4ghz transmitter and reciever. The hull is great,no complaints there. The only thing I did not like about the hull was there colors. They had decals on it,instead of a decent paint job.I only had a chance to get it in the water once after the mod's and now it is sitting on the bench bare naked.Stripped the dumb decals off and scuffed it up with a red scotch brite pad. I like the boat but they could have done a better job of building it.I would say they cheaped out on the boat, and I can see why they do not build it.But;if you can get it for a good price, grab it.You can always do some changes later. Got to go.........good luck;and let us know what you decided on.I have been into r/c boats just over a year and I have 8 in my work shed now.The wife told me if I buy another boat she will send me out in a raft and shoot holes in it.HA,HA Take care bud.....

failsafe units
Hello out there; I have been looking for an instruction manual for the Venom VFS fail safe unit. For the life of me I ca not find it.Spent 2 hours online looking but no luck.Last year one of my boats took off it hit a loge and become airborne;that was a site.Where's the camera when you need it.Anyway I have three of them failsafe's and I want to install them in my boats.I am starting to rebuild where necessary, keeps me away from the (you know who)My collection now consist of,rustler xl-5,Duratrax Evader ext,rc18 associate 4/wheel drive,it's a little wee wee,but quick,I have a supervee27 electric.Hit a dock last year and then rebuilt it,and made it stronger;never know when those docks pop up.There is the black26 bl,that has been rebuilt. Then there is this 36 inch deepvee hull that I put together basically from scratch. In the water twice but still have to set up.I also have a villian ex that I changed the wiring for the motors then switched the props. So far OK.Then there is a no name ABS cat hull that I slapped together (for you know who). Then there is my green machine. This one is the rio51,with a G2D modified Goped motor. It was built by Marine-Specialties in Texas.Apparently in had quite a bit of porting and other mill work. But it does get up and go.But now I want to get more.I just finished stripping it down to bare hull and have it ready for the spring. The hull willl be painted an Extreme Lime Green, from House of Kolor,I will be adding a clutch and water pump in it.Also I am installing see of Trim Tabs and a 3 bladed prop. All this has been done sice last spring. Thanks for a lot of people in this site for all the info you passed on to help the next RC'er like m8. Mind you;a 59 year old RC'er.Ya only live once.........thank god! But anyway;does any body know where I can get some instructions on the fail safe.Venom VFS Thankyou for listening or reading...Have a Happy new Year I will be posting pictures of the progress. Al

RE: rio 51 rudder
the drive system is a G2D zenoah engine that was milled and reworked to the specs I entered above.it also has a marine-specialties clutch with the stock stinger and 3 blade prop.I was going to install a dual rudder system but the guys here in the forum it is not needed.I took it out the other day and it went about a 100 feet and hit a wave the wrong way and it flipped upside down.So much for that run.I have not done much to it since because I have 2 other boats I am building. One is the Traxxas Villian EX and it will be brushless motor. The other is the aquacraft miss vegas, and I am also changing that to brushless. Will let use know how it turns out. RE: re:villain conversion
hello; Thankyou for the excellent info,I guess I shall try what you suggested, got nothing to lose.As for the rudder,I thought I stated prop not rudder. But us newfies are always upside down, and act like a blonde. Would you suggest grease to lube the shaft(Grimracer) grease.Thats what I use for my other boats. So far no problem with it. Here are some photos of my boats, the rio 51 is not stock,I got rid of the Sikk motor;don't like it.I installed a goped engine in which was built by a company in Houston Texas called Marine-Specialties,it is running with close to 5 1/2 HP I also installed a clutch from them as well.Had to do a little shimming but it works great now.I have not clocked it as yet but will be doing so in a week or two. Ok,once I get this villian up and running I will send some photos. Have a good one, Al

RE: re:villain conversion
hello there; I would have got back to you sooner but we went out of town for a bit;needed the rest............I see that you tried a few different ways. The last combo you tried you said you use a gear reduction. Is that because of the kv on the motor. The motor that I would like to use a Feigao 8xl I have a couple esc, that would work with this motor.I would also like to use the rod that slid into the outer housing, the reason for this is because the shaft might get to hot turning at high RPM,s I have some Graupner universal joints the I could use to install on to a steerable drive system.Just one not two. What would you suggest I use for a rudder. The motor rev out to 2073kv.When I get a chance I will take some photos and stick them in here. Also I am thinking about using (2) 5000mah,7.4 volts with a burst up to 40c Let me know what you thing of this idea. Time to go;gotta take the mutts out Thanks Al

re:villain conversion
Hello guys; I aquired a villian ex that has been gutted, most of the original are there.I would like to install a 8xl water cooled brush motor, also I will be using a seaking 90amp esc along with a high torque futuba servo.I plan on using either the rudder setup from a super vee,or one of the steerable drives that the villain has.I will be reinforcing the transom and I would like to run one steerable drive,or a rudder system from aquacraft. Also would I be able to use the shaft that is normally on the villain.Would anyone have any ideas on what should do with this project. All your help is appreciated . RE: Rio 51
Hello guys; I have a rio51 also and I agree that the Fuji Imac bt-28 motor was a flop.My rio has a Zenoah G2D goped engine that was reworked by marine-specialties in Houston Texas. They did alot of work to the motor and water cooled it also.I just got it broken in and I am impressed. These guys know how to make a motor get up and go.So far I have had no problems with it.I added a clutch and also a water pump in it.later I will be changing the trim tabs and install adjustable ones.I am not keen on using pliers to bend them.I would think that bending them with pliers would be hard on the transom. This is my first gas boat and I love it.What I need to know is;we are going up to our property at the lake which has a higher elevation than where I live. Here I am at sea level and up there the elevation is approx.,3000 meters above sea level. Is there anything special that I would have to do to run it up there? All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys AL

RE: AquaCraft Supervee 27 Brushless RTR!!!
Hi again; Something else you will need to run lipo's is a Lipo shield. This a low voltage cutoff for the lipo's.Simple to install.I got mine from a company called;Dimension Engineering. There web site is, http://www.dimensionengineering.com/lipoheild.htm They run about $20.00 us.It;s a must have if you intend to use lipos. By the way,I see your in Ontario Canada. We were just down there 3 weeks ago, visited family in Sarnia.I took a few boats and a couple of trucks also, but, didn't get the chance to play with them. The good ole OPP wanted my radar dedector, and popped me a $170.00 ticket.he them asked for it and I thought to myself;you ain't getting it.I passed it to him and OOPPSSS it dropped on the road.He was a little upset and pointed at a sign stating the ticket cost for littering. Anyway it all worked out in the end.Hope the info about the sv helps ya out. Have a good one Al By the way;don't mind me babbling,I'm a newfie, that explains it al...........

RE: AquaCraft Supervee 27 Brushless RTR!!!
Hello Rick; You will love this boat,I bought one a year ago and so far the best buy for your buck. This boat flies across the pond. Some of the things I changed and added were; everthing is aftermarket;adjustable trim tabs, two tear drop turn fins, octura prop,440/3,dual water pickups one for the motor and the other for the esc. Both pick ups are protruding from the bottom of the hull. They are about 3 inches from the transom, towards the bow. Now; if you want to hit 40 plus then get two lipo's,2s1p 5000mah and at least a 30c rating. But warn ya,hang on to it,once you have it dialed in you will see what this boat is capable of. My sv has gone through hell and back.First thing that happened,I was at at pond near where I live.Everthing was going fine until I seen this other person over on the other side. Now I put a ribbon on all my 10 boats. That way other rc's can see the frequency you are on.Well he fired his boat into the pond and and thats when the problem started. My v came srteight at me at about 30 miles an hour it would stop, and could steer it.I was standing on the dock and seen it coming right for ,I turn around and looled at the wife, then BANG!!! it hit the dock. The wife looked at and I asked her if it sank. She said nope, well I spun around and there it was,so when I picked it up to check it over I heard things moving around inside.Didn't sound good.Well I opended it, and all the stringers were busted up.Radio box split. and a long crack along the port sideSo I had to rebuild the whole interior.Fiberglass the split area and body job, then paint. Now back to the lake.By the wat the motor, esc and flex shaft were fine. If I knew how to add photos I would send some of the V. Hope this helps ya.Christ,I just wrote a book, haha Have a great evening Al
