RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
horizontal stabilizer tip.....replaced my horizontal stab because of small crack in the elevator flaps. What i failed to notice was that the new stab was bowed downwards! I got an idea and fetched a hairdryer from the bathroom...i heated up the stab and with just the slightest bit of coaxing had it back to original designed shape! Heating from underneath with curl it upwards and from the top will make it droop. Just want to pass that little tidbit along.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
i have my voltage cutoff at 3.3 per cell so im only going down to 75% instead of the customary 80%. i did fly with the throttle opened up a bit for a good amount of the time so my flights are a little shorter on average i guess.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Looks sweet Bartra how much does it cost? Also today i flew for the very first time...five full flights til the cutoff started pulsing...boy you need to get that thing down pretty quick as it loses power pretty fast! I got a good 10 minutes flight from my flightmax 2200 25c packs....and only about 6.5 minutes with the parkzone 1800 15c pack that came with plane. Lands a little faster than i thought it would need to....the servos are really fast... had to use 30% expo on aile and elev and 80% dual rate on aile and 75% rate on elev. I am convinced that the cog is much closer to 2" than the stated 2.5 Didnt want to get cocky my first time out but managed a few rolls...and looping is a snap with this bird!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
i Just received my t28d last week. It does state in the manual that cog is measured at 2.5 inches back from the leading edge of the wings at 1 inch away from the fuselage. I placed a 2200mah zippy maxflite in it and took it to the flying field. I have only practiced on a sim so i had an "old-timer" take a look at it. He flew it nicely but did say it was a bit nose heavy. that battery needed to be placed back further...almost to where the foam on the underside of the canopy would prevent you from fastening the canopy down cause it would hit the battery. If you want to shove your packs up to the front for a snug fit...cog goes to about 2 Inches...Flying it is always the best indicator....make your judgements on the fly...you will get it to where she flies acceptable to you and thats all that matters. By the way...this old-timer did say before he flew it that it was not a trainer model per se and i should be learning on a high wing model....but he was very impressed how it flew for a low wing...even calling it docile.... also the flight surface control measurements are for one direction only...if its 3/8 then it should move 3/8 in each direction from its neutral position. He dialed in 35-35-20% expo for ail-elev and rud respectively and said it felt best at that setting...i have a dx6i

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Let someone who has experience see if its normal digital chatter or binding. depending what type of tx ur using if it is binding you can limit the throws of the servos through your tx. also make sure that when the servo is powered up and in a neutral position that the servo horn is in the correct position. on my heli it must be 90 degrees to the servo case....i havent gotten my t28 yet so i cant say what the normal position should be. they should be set correctly from the factory but stuff happens sometimes!

RE: DX6i and FS One Help Please
if you have a spectrum tx they sell a usb receiver that plugs into your computer that lets you use your tx without wires (wireless) and you can then use every function the tx has and experiment changing settings and see what effect they have! About $49.00 last time i looked.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Hey Carlos i see you also have a blade400....how are your flying skills? Ive had mine for 2 years and ive never flown it. i was trying to hover and had a major crash in the beginning and since i rebuilt it have not even tried to fly. I just practice on a flightsim. I did some upgrading of the gyro and tail servo and added a new scorpion esc. I need someone to do a flight check and a test fly to get it trimmed out correctly. I have it tuned to the best of my abilities...and have probably learned everything you could about the 400 and 450 size helis in general. I got it as a gift and if i knew then what i know now i probably would have traded up to something larger and more stable.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
make sure all your control surfaces are are trimmed correctly first. Make sure the servos are not loose or that the linkages are not loose especially to the rudder. make sure nothing has shifted inside that would cause a change in your lateral cofg also. last but not least if all else fails try adding some weight to the opposite wing that will balance it out in flight....a tiny screw or nail that will stick into the foam will work. Make sure that your plane fuselage or wings have not been warped...if so you can carefully massage them back to proper specs in most cases. just some things to try....good luck!

RE: static guard as a lubricant
this compound has a ph close to 7 and is used in such things as shampoo, disinfectants and even spermicidal jellies! I doubt you would see much damage if any on aluminum hop up parts...probably take 10years or so of daily exposure to cause any type of damage. At <2% by volume in static guard.... i dont feel there is much to worry about...anyways i have plastic parts on mine!

static guard as a lubricant
I just sprayed my belt and main gears with static guard and afterwards was impressed by how much lubrication it created. it stayed on my fingertips for hours. I did a google search of the active ingredients- dimethyl ditallow ammonium chloride....the tallow is the tallow from beef used in candles, soap etc. No wonder it has great lube properties! I find it better than tri-flow hands down and will be using it from now on. Only caution i would use besides the warning label cautions for health and safety is to avoid spraying it on your electronics as this mixture is a salt based one...other than that give it a try youll be impressed with the results!

RE: FS One by Hangar 9
while we wait for a new expansion pack that hopefully will have the blade400 id like to edit one of the existing helis...most probably the voyager 50 electric... to closely mimic the blade 400. is there anyone who has done this? will the expansion pack that came out for the pre 1.1version that included a trex450 work with the new version? maybe i could go that route also? $13.00 for one heli from the pack...not exactly a bargain but.....you do what you have to do.

fsone trex 450 heli data
im looking for the flight physics data for the trex450. i want to edit one of the helis i have to closely resemble my blade400 which sry to say was not part of fsone.. if you choose the model then edit you will be able to make a copy of trex and give it a name then after it loads you will be able to access all the physics data for the new model such as weight, drag. gear ratios, blade inertia etc. this is what im looking for. thnx

been awhile since i posted and i now see that horizon has a new speed up tail pulley....has one extra tooth on the tail gear....i knew it was mech. design flaw....ever wonder why it had 2 hh values out of the box? the 110 gyro is probably creeping cause of no mechanical setup!

RE: Blade 400 - Tips, tricks, and mods
some tips....if you change out or replace any servos or your gyro they will in most cases be reversed from what came out... you will need to check your controls and reverse their settings in the tx. if you are replacing your gyro with a different brand....some newer gyros require the tail to be setup mechanically to hover without drift in rate mode before switching to hh mode....no subtrim can be used! from experience your tail slider would be almost all the way over to the one side...you end up with poor resoultion to one side and smooth resolution to the other...ideal setup would have tail slider centered on shaft with aprox 8 degrees of pitch on the tail rotors... i emailed horizon hobby about this as i believe this is a flaw in their design of the blade400....i gave them a few suggestions but anyway they now have a speed up pulley drive for sale...it has an extra tooth on it that speeds up the tail rotor. im going to order one and try it... maybe i can get the tail slider somewhere near the center of the shaft on the mechanical setup...im using the hitec hg5000 gyro and tail servo combo but this setup is being used by many newer gyros also.

RE: Good sim for low price?
wife bought me fsone for christmas... i had been using fms.... graphics are really nice...but heli selection is lousy...lots of planes though.....as i am new to helis ...i have a blade 400...i wont attempt to fly without some sim time...tried that once...learned my lesson....If you own some of the models on a sim or have flown them i guess you can tell if the physics are close to real... if a blade cp is squirrly in real life and your hovering like joe the pro on your first couple tries then i wouldnt trust it. But if you got one as a gift like me...i flew a voyager 50 on my sim then did a google search for voyager 50 videos...i was very surprised after watching the videos how close they seemed to be flying to how my sim was....so i felt somewhat confident about it. havent tried the rest or any airplanes yet but this is a good idea on how to check the realism of a sim which to me is the meat and potatoes....eye candy and extras just a bonus...well thats my two cents worth...happy flying everyone! wife paid 99.00 for the sim which incl. the tacon controller and two different types of dongles...one a usb conn. and another a parrallel or serial conn. i do feel this was rushed to market and im not happy with the heli selection at all ....very limited.... 3 or 4 very small helis from e flight which are virtually useless...a 50 size elect and nitro, a 90 size gasser and a large scale ranger. no blade400.....no trex450 althought i now see a small upgrade pack with one for about 20.00....your limited to what horizon wants to add , and when they want...i dont see how it would be feasible to make your own addons either..so if helis are your thing....stay away form this one...you could do better somewhere else.

RE: dx6i pot
as i further explored this there is also a program to test all your switches....gives an ok or pass rating as you toggle them...im not quite sure im using the pot calibration tool properly... i assumed that you could change values by using the scroll functions...but now it appears that it is done automatically as i could see some of the values fluctuate as i held the tx and toggled the switches through the screens.. that would be optimum...if jt41time reads this could you give alittle more info? i did email you....maybe you thought it was spam. you could email me also if you like.

RE: Scale-Pitch Curves, Throttle curves
hey carl im new also just getting into it and scale seems just perfect for me also. i only have a 450 size to train on for now. things you may want to consider....your head speed for ff...you would want that to be constant through your flights with enough power to get you out of a jam if you had to put a quick demand on your cyclic controls for any reason... you could lose substantial power in that scenario... a govenor would ensure you would retain the headspeed in this regard.....throttle setting curve might be as an example 85.....all the way across on your idle up switch if thats the sweet spot for what your flying. pitch curves i would assume would be tamer than one would ordinarily use ... but im afraid that that the best method is to have someone experienced...help setup...test fly and tweak your particular heli and tx for a starting point...then adjust for abilities as a pilot. this is the hardest aspect...finding someone willing to help you...i have shot off many emails to rcu members but have received very little if any responses...most clubs are still 95% plane flyers...its hit or miss going to a club field and finding any heli pilots there...thats my situation.....i may end up having to travel long distances to get the help i need...if i want to continue to progress...then find a local club when i can stand on my own two feet without embarassing myself..i have a blade 400 that i crashed and rebuilt...you learn tons when you rebuild... its been almost a year since and all ive done is tinker and add some better components while i find someone to help me....all reved up and nowhere to go!

i did hook up a pot from a broken joystick into the tx...each pair of sticks is wired into a 7pin connector which plugs into the board... i pulled it out and plugged the pot into the board and gave it a try... as i spun the pot with my fingers the appropriate servo moved! so i know it had a chance... now i can calibrate each pot....im hoping...and ill be in business!

RE: dx6i pot
jt how the f***k did u find that out? im looking at it now.....T A E R....throttle, aileron, elevator, rudder.... shows u m d columns... im assuming upper middle down position and the values for each...cycle through the elev d/r switch, gyro switch and ail d/r switch . im assuming you toggle a switch and then use the scroller to highlight each value you want changed and use the scroller function to change it? That is awesome dude! Now i can take the handle off my logitech extreme 3d joystick which by the way is a 3axis joystick or just wire it up to the tx and ill have a 3axis joystick tx....great for planes and helis!....just like the used to make in years gone by. i practice flying on my sim with the joystick and damn if i cant fly anything on it! even helis...except 3d flying...its no good for that ...sport and scale would be right on with it. im psyched about the possibilities. two gimble tx = long learning curve...3axis = extremely short. if you have a pc joystick with a twist handle rudder give it a whirl and you will see what im talking about.[:D]

RE: FSone program closes
run dxdiag on your computer and make sure you have hardware acceleration enabled. just go to run and type in dxdiag and hit enter. also i had to enable verticle sync as the sim requires it else i get a slight ripple effect while flying. i have antialiasing set to let application decide... same for anistropic filtering. also overlooked... make sure you are running 32bit color! 16 bit will cause havoc.

RE: hitec hg5000 gyro and tail servo combo on blade400
Thnx for replying guys! guess what im trying to say is that you cannot get the 8 or so degrees of pitch on your tail rotors and have the slider centered on the tail shaft at the same time. The best mechanical setup will leave tail slider way over to one side.. you get good resolution to one side but just a twitch... literally to the other side. Looking at how the original stock gyro is setup...2 hh rates... and why so many people are having creep problems etc. They are just masking the problem of a poor mechanical setup. After analysing the tail pitch slider if they would have designed the 2 small links from the forks to the blade grips aprox. 3mm longer ....Holy shit batman! you could have a "symmetrically centered mechanical rate mode setup" (say that 3 times fast e-flite). No more hours of tinkering..robbing peter to pay paul...just to get an acceptable setup where you dont have to worry about "catching" your heli at spool up so it wont twist and snag the ground or wont require constant trim adjustments that we see so many people complaining about. I think this would do wonders for any gyro combos...especially the poor stock e-flite gyro.... setup wise...performance wise...and reputation wise...it is getting all the undue blame as the culprit here. Ill fire off an email to eflite and see what they think. Imagine all the aggravation and money we would be saving...and if this idea works eflite will have fixed the one main criticism that the 400 is recieving.
