I mounted a DLE30 on my SS and the stock muffler fits great. Minimal cutting (on the bottom) of the cowling. PERFECT ENGINE for the SS

RE: GP Super Stearman
ORIGINAL: pizman Well, I carefully unwrapped my xmas gift box to pull out the plane one more time while the wife was away, I can definetly see the angle in the firewall that I was wondering about, I held my DLE-30 engine with the Jtec wrap around pitts muffler up to it, looks like I may need about 1/8'' spacer even with the standoffs that came with it so that the muffler will not be touching the firewall, I guess that will move the prop a bit past the recommended 6-1/4'', it will end up being almost 6-1/2'', hopefully this isn't a problem.  Since it has already snowed and I won't see grass till April, I bought a set of skis for the plane, I quickly checked how much ground clearence I would have (with skis) and 19'' prop is tight, but I think it should work.  I'm thinking I am going to switch the nylon clevises with the Dubro Kwik Loc type - are they any good?
Hilarious! we are like kids all over again, love it

RE: Dropped my Escapade :(
I must share one as well! I friend spent about a month building a Decathlon with a 26cc gas engine. On the maiden day, he took off and it kept going! Just climbing in huge circles as the wind was pushing it further away with each circle. For a while, we could just hear the gas engine, but not see the airplane it had climbed so high. Never to be seen again. Man, we laughed so hard when he left the flying field with just his transmitter! He laughed as well, thank goodness!! We still laugh about that one

RE: GP Super Stearman
Also, just a heads up, put one of the wings on the plane the next time you run the engine. All of that vibration is weakening the tail. The wing will help take some of the vibration. Nice running little motor!
