LRP Spec .28 Carb
I need a replacement carb for the LRP .28. They are discontinued and I can't find one. I searched online and everyone is out...even Tower Hobbies. Does anyone has a link to one or can I use another carb from another engine? I tried a few sites that had them listed, but they were out. Any helpis greatly appreciated. I may end up calling Associated if I can't find one.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
I will try and run the boat today, but a few chips under the boat(one being 2" long) is a problem, so no running until I get it fixed. I am more committed to gas boats, so this may realistically end up on the shelf or for sale sooner or later. A real nice boat though...a cooling coil around the exhaust manifold is a must IMHO.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
I got the engine going. Could a loose flywheel keep it from running? It was loose and I had to add a shim or two and set it to 3 turns out and it fired and ran. Hopefully I will get out to the pond today and run my 1/8 scale hrdro and the MV. WIll let you guys know how it goes.

RE: FedEx shipping damage.
Honestly, think about how much it will cost to repair it over the aggravation of the claim and the headache involved, and go from there. I had damages and it was not worth the hassle, but that was me. Do what it takes to get you running and hopefully it will be refunded in time. Shipping insurance is tricky as they should have inspected the packaging before they shipped it...or that was my experience with them when I shipped packages over 1000.00, and they always say that you should use hard foam instead of popcorn, bubblewrap, newspaper, etc. They always "recommend" shipping in the original packaging were applicable.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
I am running the .18 CV-RM engine. I will try it in the morning. It was broken in and ran on 30% nitro and I was trying to run it on 20%...big mistake I see. I need to get some 30% tomorrow. maybe that is the source of my problems as if I had to change nitro %, then it would require another break in correct?

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
I just checked the online manual and it said 2 turns from closed on hsn and 1/2 turn from flush on lsn...2 seems too lean...I will definitely try the 3 1/2 out then. Also what is the best running plug? I assume the #8? I can't get it to run as it tries to fire with every pull, but it will not run past that.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
I am the proud owner of a MV. It has an OS .18,3.5 pipe, Grimracer turn fin, manifold cooling coil, and a M435/3 metal prop which are the upgrades so far. Quick question though, what is the stock needle settings on the OS 18? I can't get it to fire. Every time you pull the cord, it fires, but doesn't stay running.

RE: Proboat Miss Elam
I am not too sure as I kept it at factory settings. I will take it to the local pond where a few guys who frequent this site will hopefully have time to look at it for me. I ran 16:1 and retuned, but it ran poorly. It is a sweet boat and she does get alot of attention.

Proboat Miss Elam
Picked up a Miss Elam from of all places...a pawn shop. It was lightly used and I got a descent deal on it. I ran it for the past few days and it seems pretty fast so far. The Zenoah starts easily and runs fine, but it stalled out on me yesterday when I was decelerating. It didn't seem to be overheating as the lsn is 1 1/8 out and the hsn was 1 1/2 out. I run 1:32 with Synthetic oil. The boat is bone stock. The plug is black if that helps. It has the pump and the water is pumping out both outlets, but when it is drydocked when starting, the outlet blows hot air/water. Is that supposed to happen? Also, how hot is the exhaust manifold supposed to get? It did turning colors and is extremely hot. I have a background in nitros, but tuning a gas is a bit different. How do you guys tune a gasser? I hace been getting help from a fellow RC Universe member who's help so far has been priceless.

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
I will probably get the Hughey one and let Horizon send me one and the lost hardware. A shame as the boat was running great. Where can I find one? I found a place called Rocket City Racing. Also, what would be a good replacement prop? A Prather 225 or maybe an Octura 442? Also, what is the prop nut metric? I know it is stainless.

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Went back to the pond yesterday and had a few pretty good runs, before the flexshaft broke. It had about 9 runs on it before it let go. When it broke, I lost everything on the solid portion(balanced and sharpened prop, nut and the other piece that the prop sits in. I was searching for the upgrade flexshaft, but found several part numbers. Which one is the heavy duty flexshaft? Thanks

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Any idea where I can find a Prather 225 prop? Or the equivelant to it in Octura...I believe the 445? I am basically looking for an upgrade to the Prather 230. I tried to order it from the lhs, but the 225 was discontinued.

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Alright, went back to the pond and this time I ported the exhaust header and richened it up a bit. It ran strong and was smoother through the powerband. It seemed just as fast, but it still isn't as fast as I hope to go with it. I will sharpen the fins and rudder and see how that works. Next thing would be a Prather 225 and if that does not do it, then I will probably get a Dynamite .32 ported by TL and go from there. It handled great though and I really liked the right turns at full throttle. Nice.

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Bought a used .32 off of the Bay and dropped it in the Shockwave. Took her out and she ran great, but one very noticeable thing is that it took a while for the engine/pipe to clear out. One thing the boat guy did say was that the "cone" of the pipe was too far from the glowplug and that I should cut the header. I think that should help it clear out faster. Also once in a while when I bring the boat in, it sprays oil out the pipe and has a sizzle sound. Anyone ever experience this? Could it also be the LSN? It sounds fine through the lower band and sounds like it stops shy of peak then after a few seconds(3-4) it clears out and screams. A reply would be greatly appreciated.

RE: THE OFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Alright...got back in this afternoon with an update: I got some Trinity fuel from a friend and tested the boat running an OS R3 plug I believe. I had to turn it in a whole turn plus some to get it in the ballpark. Got it running OK and I was not impressed. Ran out the tank and decided to step it up. I took the Shockwave to the local boat specialty store and he sharpened, balanced and polished the prop and I grabbed a gallon on O'Donnell RTR 20% on the way out. I picked up a DYN2500 plug and made it back to the pond. Swapped out the plug and retuned the carb(went in about another 1/4 turn or so) and let her go. Well, it was a thing of beauty. It shot off and left a crazy rooster tail. She was dialed in and when the carb was wid open, it would sound like it spooled up more and go faster. It was almost like a turbo or something. It ran great and started to draw a crowd. I was hoping that the cop who was watching would clock it, but he dissapeared. Brought it in and played with the HSN to get it to be a smoother powerband and lost the sweet spot. Tried to find it and it started to act lean. Wasn't about to let that spoil the day, so I packed it up and left. First good day with the SW and it is making me look harder at a gasser w/clutch.

I finally got the carb in. I opted for the stock one instead of the ST one as I was dissuaded from a member who stopped running it. Should hopefully be running tomorrow if all goes well. Which hole does the throttle link go through? Top or bottom?

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Anyone running the Super Tigre carb, what are your needle settings as a point of reference? I am buying one along with another Dynamite one, but don't want to run lean until I figure it out as this is my first real nitro boat and I am trying to get a handle on tuning nitro boats.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Update: I got the carb out of the boat and am thinking of the Super Tigre carb or another Dynamite one. Also the pressure nipple on the header came loose. I assume regular JB Weld to hold it? How about red Locktite? Haven't had time to get further with it since then. Also, any one ever used 20% heli fuel? I heard it works great due to the higher oil content? I have a gallon of 20% Coolpower that I could use.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
OK, I took the boat to the lake again and this time I got "help" from a friend that works at Hobbytown. After some time, we got it running, but it kept on stalling at high end like running lean, but it would flood out on the low end. Well, he suggested raising the idle a bit and then the idle screw broke. Packed it up and took it home. Tried to see my needle settings, and the high end was 1 1/2 out! running lean, but still flooding out on idle? I was thibking that bad fuel may also be the blame. From experience, I assume the hsn too lean and the lsn too rich and maybe the idle too low. Also, is their an easy way to get the idle screw out? It is down in there pretty good and I usually cut them out with a dremel if it is close to the top, but this will damage the carb body in this situation. I assume a screw extractor of that size, but I haven't seen them that small.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
XX954HXCAFEXX, what part of Florida are you? Would it be cheaper to get a hull rather than repair it? Looks like a brutal crash and how strong would the hull be is regards to future cracking? Is there an ultra simple way to tune boat engines? I have been in all forms of RC since the 80's, but this would make my 2nd nitro boat. SJN, like the Seawind also. It was a toss up between another Seawind and a Shockwave. I hope I made the right choice. So far, so good.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
It was the same plug used on break in and the coil did not seem distorted/discolored at all. What is the normal operating temp range? I assume it was not too lean as it would bog down/flood out if I let it idle a bit. I rinstalled an OS A3 and it run better in drydock. Needles are at factory settings, so I hop that I am not too lean. Forgot my temp guage also, but it was not too hot to the touch. I like the drivers with the blue suits and moveable visors...is that a factory replacement or an option part? Any part number on it?

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
I rescently bought a Shockwave and took it out on the trial run. It was already broken in and started up OK. Ran a few minutes and tried to accelerate. The thing took off faster than I thought it would and nearly capsized. Ran half a tank out until the glowplug died. Few questions(I read through 55 pages of this thread so far): Is the OS R3 plug a good replacement glow plug? What is a good operating temp range on the engine? If a glowplug dies out, I assume it to be too rich in this case as when I tried to accelerate again, it didn't, but kept the same speed until it died? I did check the tanks for leaks and zip-tied the ends and the pressure nipple on the manifold was secured. The stock flexshaft is OK so far. Also, any Shockwave owners in the Jaksonville area?
