RE: RARE CAR!!!!
Yeah, I also have one of the orginal Tamiya Hornets, My first R/C car. It's still a blast. Years ago you could get skis for the front to run them in snow. Should have picked up a set while I could. A buddy of mine has an old kyosho optima-belt driven 4 wheel drive buggy. Old school rocks.[sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: RARE CAR!!!!
Nope, All it needed was a battery. The pic makes it look like the bright orange wheels are faded, but they are not. The Super Hornet looks new. Not even any scratches on the bottom. I also bought a HPI dash that was supposed to be a "roller" I wanted it to put a Cougar body on it for car shows. When I won the bid the seller said there was more there than he thought. For $27.50 I received a complete running car and radio, plus a brand new battery in the package, and a new set of BBS style wheels. Oh yeah and the charger too! Gotta love ebay.

RE: RARE CAR!!!!
Here was a great deal, I bought a radio off of ebay for $30. This is what the seller "tossed in" The nubs on the orginal tires are not even wore.[:)]

RE: Steam
My dream boat has always been a steam powered African Queen. The Midwest steam engines seem pretty simple to operate, but not built for speed. The boiler is fired by a sterno/parrifin based fuel. Sounds like a fun project, don't get burned!

A belt around your flywheel spun by a 12 volt starter will get your inboard running.

RE: High pitch squeal from ESC
This happens as soon as I hook up the wires to the motor, without giving it any throttle. When I give it a throttle the noise is still there. Also when I have the motor hooked up directly to the battery it runs like a raped ape, but when it goes through the speed controller it seems like it's running alot slower. I will check my throttle trim and see if that makes any difference. Thanks!

High pitch squeal from ESC
I have a Novak 610-RV ESC in a boat project I'm working on. When I hook up the motor I get a high pitched squeal from the ESC. The motor is a MRP MS-1 pro marine series. What would cause this, and what do I do to fix it? Thanks peeps.

RE: Anyone know what kind of car this is??
REPLY
Welcome to the forum Jarod. I would agree it is an old rc12. Many years ago they used to have carpet races at our local track, and that was the car of choice. You stole it for a buck. Good job.[sm=greedy.gif]

Can you use regular automobile paint on lexon? The reason I was wondering is I just got a body that I want to paint to match my car, and I don't think I could find dark tourmiline green lexon paint. Thanks! jeff

How do "Fail Safes" work?
 A fail safe is probably a good idea. My cousin was up this week from Mississippi, we went down to the lake to do a little fishing, and were talking R/C boats. He told me that his son and him were out in the gulf fishing for shark when a large R/C boat went by them "cruzing along pretty good". They looked around and there wasn't anybody within sight. He said he was really

Yea, That's what I'm hoping will happen here. So Flying Monkey since you are interested in boats and planes both, have you ever built a float plane? I think that would be a way cool, love to have one.

Thanks!, I emailed them requesting another set of instructions. But if anyone else has one I would still like to see pics for ideas, or some used running hardware to complete it.

SKDaddle Too
I have an old Dumas SKDaddle Too I started building many years ago. After finding this forum I thought I might try to finish it. Does anybody out there have one? I misplaced the instructions somewhere, and really have no idea on the hardware setup. The hull is pretty much completed, but thats it. A picture of the setup from a finished one (or the parts to do so) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks r/c'ers!

Yep, Flying Monkey is right, These are non functional and made for scale tugs. Sterling and several other manufacturers make all kinds of deck hardware for scale ships.

I wish I could say that that pic was my boat, but it's not. I saw that on SharkRacing's webpage. I can't imagine what the swimmers and fisherman on my lake would say if they saw something like that ripping across the water.

boater down
You guys are all lucky. My little brother (38) who has been into electrics with me for years suffered a devastating stroke on Monday. he recently bought a pontoon that he has moored on the Missisippi, and I was working on a nitro to bring along for fun and games. Looks like that will never happen. He is now in intensive care and may not survive. He loved his r/c boats and I just wanted to let the rest of you r/c boaters out there know that life can be short. Enjoy the hobby while you can. LL
