How to repair wing dowel loose
Hello, Need some recommendations on how to repair this wing dowel which was mangled when glider cartwheeled. Wing is foam and the dowel is about 1 1/2" long. Is it enough to just fill and glue with epoxy or should I use a longer dowel to go further in ? Also what about the wooden front part which the dowel goes through ? Thanks, L [image]http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/7343/dsc6327q.jpg[/image]

BT-32 magneto no spark
Hello, I recently installed a BT-32b engine in a giant Sportster, during installation I was able to test my ignition switch and see spark etc when I rotated the prop by hand. However next day there was no spark and neither when testing at home again. I removed the ignition switch and ran a wire direct from the terminal on the ignition module to the engine chassis and the plug body but still no spark, all done in a dark room. Any suggestions on further testing if the atm ignition module is really malfunctioning ? thanks, L

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi Guys, I am mounting an OS 120 4stroke in this plane, engine is sideways, cylinderhead on right of plane however finding a place to install the throttle servo is a pain as the throttle pushrod would be on the outside of the firewall box on the right of the plane and not inside of the area where the tank sits. Any suggestions or pics of people who have done this before ?

does landing and the idling cause plugs to be misread ? Should I run up the engine just before landing, then deadstick the plane and land ?

RE: Finetuned engine harder to start ?
I just checked the timing with the Milton video method. Timing is fine, about 29 or 30 degrees btdc. I am going to solder the choke plate hole, hopefully this will stop the backfiring and just allow it to just cough like before. I don't really have a problem with hard starting as once I can figure out a sequence it is usually repeatable, at least with a ZDZ80 I had previously which was definitely a hard starter but never backfired.

RE: Finetuned engine harder to start ?
you mean shouldn't backfire when flipping with choke on right ? is there a way to check timing without using a dial gauge in the cylinder ?

RE: 10C ailevator not working with pmix
I just tried setting up a new model and it works now, the link option is there. However with the previous model it disappears when the slave channel is Elevator(2) Will post a video to show you guys I am not imagining this.

RE: 10C ailevator not working with pmix
Hi Ed, there is no "link" option in the pmix for rudder->elevator I have pics of pg1 and pg2 of such pmix. However if you do a pmix with an unnamed eg not 1-4 you do get the "link" option If the pmixes treated all channels as generic and gave them all the link option it would be better. I don't know if because my radio is the heli/fm/2.4 version there is this problem. Finetuned engine harder to start ?
I've finetuned my DLE-55, had to lean both needles a little bit no longer get burbling and nice transition now. However it is much harder to start now, also first start is a real pain literally. Previously flipping with choke on until it popped was safe(both idle and full throttle choke on), now it will do a bonafide 4stroke glow style backfire with the choke on I've gotten so used to it that I flip with my fingers pushing the front portion of the prop blade so the backfire doesn't hurt anymore. Any suggestions ?

RE: 10C ailevator not working with pmix
there is no "link" option when using ailevators, the "link" option is only with the pmixes which I am going to have to resort to using since it appears the 10c software is buggy. I did not have this problem with my 9cap previously. see the pics below, first pic shows the few options in ailevator setup second pic shows channel8 moving with the elevator in the last pic you can see channel 2 has moved as the rudder was moved because of the rudd-ele pmix however channel 8 did not move. 10C ailevator not working with pmix
Hello, I have a 10C radio, been using the ailevator function with my twin elevator servo airplane. the ailerons are set at 0% in the ailevator function. Second servo is plugged into channel 8. I am trying to do a rudder->elevator mix for knife edge flight, however only the main elevator servo(channel 2) is responding with the pmix. Any suggestions ? thx, L

RE: Most accurate/compatible Trex 450 Clone
EXI, Flasher and CopterX are good clones. The v2 clones are most widespread and parts readily/cheap available. Not so sure about the Pro versions. People should change their mindset to what a heli is instead of what the brand is. At the end of the day, these helis are basically made up of a swashplate, head and tail rotor which are usually swap/replaceable. No need to get into fixing individual components. You can get complete CopterX metal head/tail combos for $40 so its no big problem to replace or keep as spare.

RE: Hit tree, repair suggestions ?
I was able to fix it yesterday. The wing is tapered to the tip. Luckily the tip was intact so I glued in a piece to each of the two damaged ribs and sanded those pieces to make new ribs using a straight edge from the 4th rib to the tip to get the tapered shape. Then glued in a piece for the leading edge and sheeted then sanded. thanks L

I am also a satisfied Alpha 4 user, best for Nicd/Nimh I doubt that info is available but you might be able to check it yourself by hooking up a voltmeter to a cell and running some tests charging/discharging to see for yourself.

RE: eneloop aa batteries
I soldered them myself, I used a 40w hot iron and made sure to sand/clean them first then tinned before soldering. You really need to know how to solder and not put too much heat down. I CA glued them together and used desoldering braid as my wire as its thick and takes the solder well. Taped them with some stiff card afterwards. Its not recommended to solder for a number of reasons, so I cycled my pack several times just to be safe. I only cycled at c/10 though but I should really go harder to see the voltage drop.

6v ni packs more like closer to 7v ?
I've always use 4cell packs, but looking to try a 5cell. However I just fried a mini servo which was supposed to be 6v rated, but upon checking the running voltage it was very close to 7v. Are other people having these problems with high initial voltage on 5cell packs ?

exhaust grime ?
how much grime should one expect to see inside a muffler ? reason I ask is I have some friends with gasser helis, they run a little more oil(4oz/gal) and their exhausts appear to be totally clean, no black grime.

Warped trailing edge
I have a wing half which is slightly warped at the trailing edge, wing half is about 40" The tips curve up, they would be above center hinge line by about a millimeter or 2 compared to the center of the wing half. The aileron is straight. should I try to middle the aileron across the entire hinge line or have the tips of the aileron on inline with the wing and let the center area appear out of line ? Its a profile which probably wont notice the imperfection due to slowish flying.

RE: Edge joining balsa sheets without CA
ok thanks, I am putting the titebond in an old ca bottle to make it easier with a smaller spout. I was just a bit wary as I messed up in the past with some other regular white wood glue which probably had too much moisture and didnt grab as fast as titebond. using CA is a pain as a lot is wasted and hard to sand
