12FG Trainer Cord
Quick question, I understand if I'm using a 12FG as master with something like 9C as slave I need to use the special 12FG trainer cord. However if I have a 12FG as master with 8FG as slave, can I use the standard micro-micro cord or do I need to use the special voltage drop one still? Thanks, Les.

12FG Out of Calibration after Update
Hi all, recently I ran the v2.1 update to my 12FG. All seemed well, hadn't flown anything on it since but in setting up an electric model tonight I couldnt get the throttle to respond. Investigation shows that now my throttle stick is only moving in the range +100 to -41, and my rudder stick is deflected in the servo monitor at +29. This appears to have happened to all my models in the tx and still happens even if I start a new model. Thoughts on how I can fix it or do I need to send it to a service centre? Although bought 3 years ago from Tower Hobbies, I am in New Zealand. Our local importer doenst have a service centre so if its needs fixing, who do I send it to? Thanks, Les.

RE: Firmware updates for 14MZ, 12Z, 12FG, 8FG!
I'm still using the as shipped software in my 12FG, v1.3 I think. Do I need to step through the previous updates or can I jump straight to applying v2.0 ?

RE: 12FG Software Compatibility
Thanks Bax, looks like the easiest way to get him started off will be to send him a card with some of my model files (6 servo gliders) on and he can adjust from there. Absolutely love this radio. Thanks, Les.

12FG Software Compatibility
Hi, I have a 72mhz 12FG with software v1.1, and a friend I am trying to help with his, which is 2.4G and v1.3. Question 1 is, can I send him a SD card with some template's and model files on and will he be able to read them? Question 2, if no to the above, can I download from the card using the pc backup software and email to him, will he be able to read them? Thanks, Les.

12FG Region Coding
Hi, a couple of years ago I bought a 12FG from Tower Hobbies on 72mhz. I have the opportunity to get a TM14 module but it was originally from Japan. Will a Japan sourced FAAST module work in my USA region coded transmitter? Thanks, Les.

RE: 12 FG Delta programming
Bax, having just done this with a slope model, I found that by far using ailevater was the easiest way to set the throws for each surface, but like above the ail trim doesnt work. I simply used a Pmix with T1 as the master, one of the aileron channels as a slave, turned on the link and gave it a small mix percentage. Works perfectly fine and I have full and easy control over throws.

RE: New Comp ARF A4 Skyhawk surfaces
Real shame about the lip on the wing behind the LE slat though. The full size aircraft had no recess for the slat, the TE just thinned to almost nothing and sat on top of the smooth curve of the wing.

RE: 12FG failed v1.6 firmware update
Dave, I'm in NZ too and have an early version 12FG with 1.1 software. If you can point me to somewhere I can download say 1.3 or so I can send you a card with it on. Les.

Updating a 12FG
My 12FG is using the as delivered software version 1.1 When I update to the latest, do I need to save the existing model files anywhere or will they be unchanged and unaffected by the update? Thanks, Les.

RE: Region Code Change
Krysta, why isn't the region coding in the module itself? I bought a 12FG from Tower on 72mhz. Here in NZ we can use 27/29/35/36/40/72mhz as well as 2.4G. I have yet to see the NZ agent advertise the 12FG at all and the only other people I know of who have one in this country imported them from overseas. Our close neighbour Australia only uses 36mhz so I thought I could use a borrowed module/rx to fly in contests there but now I see I have to return the radio to have the country reset? I expect I'd have to send it back again after I get home to have it useable on 72m again? I doubt the local agent would touch my radio because it was not purchased through him so no help there. Its the little things like this that really annoy me about what is otherwise an outstanding radio that I am really happy with. Les.

RE: complete software change on T12fg
What about if I can borrow a 12FG from someone in the host country thats already setup, can I then just take my SD card with my models on a plug that in. Will that work or will the stored freq settings for the model cause a problem? Les.

RE: complete software change on T12fg
Does this mean that when I attend a world champs event next year, if the host country doesn't allow 72mhz, then I can't just buy/borrow a local module/rx and use my 12FG? Les.

RE: Charging a 12FG
Don't worry. Found a suitable plug today and tried it and you can. BTW - I have owned a 7UAPS, an 8UAP, a 9C, a 9CS and now the 12FG. Why use the same style charge plug as all the others but a smaller size on the 12?? Surely keeping it the same would have been better, now I have to make up a short adapter lead which even though I'm making up a couple, I'll eventually leave at home one day. Les.

Charging a 12FG
Checked my manual and it doesn't say anything about it. Can I use a field fast charger into the charge port to charge the tx or do i need to remove the battery each time? Les.

12Fg with R5114DPS
HI, received my 12FG yesterday, had a wee play and absolutely love it so far. One question, does the 5114 rx need a source of power to remember its freq? It seems everytime I unplug the battery I need to reset the freq for it. Thanks, Les.

RE: New Futaba 9CAPS Super!!!!
If like me you fly sailplanes, then the 9C Super is worth it, 3 flight modes etc. Seems like Futaba are trying to make the 9C more attractive to glider users since JR introduced the 9303.
