RE: need some 6
Set on something so the wheels don't touch the ground. Simple!!
ORIGINAL: goirish Does anyone know where I can get some 6" wheels that won't put me in the poor house. Can't be the foam ones they get flat if the plane sets very long.
RE: Perhaps the dumbest question of the month
Rudder & aileron = coordinated turns, where as rudder and/or aileron alone, will not.
ORIGINAL: nitro208ca DEAR:70x7 The three channel that you came from is right . The new four channel is not ailerons/elevator/ruder. The four channels are AILERONS/ELEVATOR/RUDDER/MOTOR. For the question of using the rudder with ailerons is totaly up to you.As stated above, some ppl use the aileron rudder combo for taking off and landing. Most ppl use that combo for some sport flying aswell as 3d flying. If you feel comfortable using the rudder the way you are.... use it. That is what makes this hobby interesting, not one control is the same. WHat i mean by that is that everyone has they own way of flying the plane and the settings for the controller
RE: Hobbico Avistar a Performer?
I buy them by the quarter lb. Shake talc powder in the bag and store them in the lower section of my flight box. I use them for 1 day flying and then toss em.

RE: Hobbico Avistar a Performer?
CG. I am quite familiar with the purpose of the rubber bands. I too am tired of them I and am interested in the velcro setup.
ORIGINAL: JollyPopper I have an Avistar with an Evolution .46 on the nose. It turned out to be a great combination. I got tired of the rubber bands on the wing fiasco so I figured out how to route velcro straps to hold the wing on. Many of the veteran pilots at my field flatly told me it would not workuntil they saw me do it. I am confident that you would break the wing before you could rip it off with the velcro holding it on. These things go on in seconds where it took several minutes to stretch those rubber bands and the velcro does not break while the airplane is sitting in the hot sun. So far I have used this on two different planes and I have yet to find a down side to it.
RE: New at the hobby! need lots of advice!
Use a strip of velcro on the bottom of the battery and a small piece in the fuselage.

RE: How to handle the guys with flawed plans?
+1
ORIGINAL: acdii Here's the one thing I found about a club back when I wanted to first get started in it. The majority of pattern flyers were arrogant, and hogged the airfield to do repetitive flying, over and over and over again, so I never had a chance to even run up my engine. This was back in the days when there were AM radios, with few frequencies to work with. There was one guy who did attempt to help me, he was a pilot for American Eagle, and was also a member of the Lima Lima's, and I will never forget him. He got my little ARF up in the air, trimmed it out and handed me the radio. He had me flying circles, and even a loop, and after a few minutes I had a big ol smile on my face, then it turned to horror when the plane suddenly decided to no longer respond to the radio. It fly into a tree, and eventually fell down. I picked up the pieces and thanked him for the help and drove off. Before that day though I had the field to myself, and attempted to fly it myself. I promptly crashed it on take off. I fixed the plane and a week later asked for help when I met this guy. The reason I gave it up though is cost, I just could not afford it at the time. The reason I shy away from clubs is some of them are arrogant, air hogs, and wouldn't give you the time of day, and yell at you if you even breath on their plane. However, being a know it all when you know nothing, and then bragging about it to someone who knows you dont know jack, can turn some who want to help away from actually helping. The guys who have the patience to help others like this are Gods, and hats off to you guys.
RE: How to handle the guys with flawed plans?
behaviour is spelled wrong. OK, I'm done.
ORIGINAL: bogbeagle My Collins Dictionary informs me that "apologise" is a perfectly acceptable spelling. The Dictionary was printed in 1982, so I suppose that it could be out of date ... a bit like me. In any event, let me express my most profound apologies for having so distressed you with my lack of erudition. Shameful behaviour, on my part.
