RE: HELP!! Choice of 100cc airplane for precision and 3D
Just to throw another one into the mix have you looked at the Pilot-RC range? I have the 106" Extra 260 with the DLE111 on JMB cans. Pull-out from a hover is insane! Its a very light airframe but more than capable of taking anything you can throw at it. Also very quick to put together almost everything is done for you.

Hey Guys, there are a few of us flying them over here in the uk. I have and absolutely love it! Very well put together and quality hardware all round. RE: First Gasser?
Collective, you're gonna get loads of different opinions and recommendations on what's the best, and trying to make a decision is bl**dy hard,(been there done that). Best advice I ever got was pick an aircraft type, then pick a colour scheme you like. There isn't a lot between most of the models on the market unless you have a lot of experience in the larger model, they all have good and bad points. I don't think there is an ideal plane outthere for everyone. Just make sure your setup is as good as you can get, it takes a bit more thinking through with larger aircraft, I believe its a good setup that makes the difference rather than the actual airframe. Happy hunting Rab

RE: First Gasser?
Just going by personal experience here, but I maidened my Aero Works Extra 260 50cc/ZDZ50 yesterday. Its my first gasser and I have to say I can thoroughly recommend it. First flight was a non-event, no trim changes didn't try anything wild but first impressions are very smooth and precise. Landing was a breeze easiest landing I have done. Next couple or flights resulted in dead-stick. It floats like hell, the second one bent the u/c but no damage anywhere else. Something to consider if you havent got the experience(like me). Yes the Aeroworks is a bit heavier than some, but it is very well put together. I suspect on a lot of other aircraft my arrival would have done a lot more damage. Just my 2c worth but having agonised over what plane to buy, I think I have made the perfect choice! Good luck Rab

RE: Groovy 50 3D- ARF from World Models???
Old thread but giving it a try. Just test flew my groovy (had it for about 6months but an EF extra borrowed the ys-63). Thought it went pretty well, but didn't really get a chance to really test it out. Anybody stick to the stock elevator pushrod? I did was never very happy with it. Tried to pull a parachute and the fookin thing snapped 90deg. Not sure if it was me or the elev setup(I'll blame that until i change it) but overall as a chuckaround I was pleasantly surprised. Compared to the Extra i found it a lot more stable in the wind(that'll be the weight) but the ys pulls like stink. Will keep me going till I get the AW extra 260 50cc ready. Now that is an experience in ARTF!! the way it should be..

RE: Extreme Flight Extra 58"
Finally got to maiden this bird today. Weather wasn't what you'd call ideal (20mph gusty winds+showers) but its been sitting looking at me for the past week so it just had to be done. 2 flights in and I know I'm going to have some serious fun with this!! Ys-63 has buckets of power. Managed a quick prop-hang (a first for me) and it punched out at about 1/2 throttle straight up. Just need a good day to give it a good test, hopefully sun will shine on friday!! Nice one Extreme Flight!!

RE: Extreme Flight Extra 58"
Don't ya just love it when you get a call from the courier to say he has a package for you 'where can I leave it?'. After many days trying to make up my mind, I finally put my card on the line and ordered the Extreme Flight Extra. Well the YS-63 was giving me an evil look sitting on the shelf! Placed the order with Freestyle-rc on sunday, and whilst the card was out it magically ordered 4x Hitec 5245's and a 5475(dunno how it happened my hand just kept clicking). Got that phone call on tuesday, why did I have to be away, work just doesn't take these things into consideration!! I had to wait a whole 2more days to get home and start carefully opening boxes(ok ripping like a lunatic might be better). I've had a few models before and after all the excitement of waiting you open it up and get a dissapointment. Somethings broken/missing/doesn't fit/etc. Well guess what..... That doesn't work for Extreme Flight. Packaging was fantastic, everything taped down so no banging about. First thoughts were they sent one of those foil wraps that marathon runners get(they think of everything and know you'll need to keep warm after the adrenaline of opening the box) Oh wait it's the wings in their own bag! Things just got better, beautiful fuz and canopy with pilot, dash and floor immaculate cowl and good hardware pack. Everything was there, even my servos had arrived. I've so far had a good look at all the joints, nothing loose or badly fitted. Well done Extreme Flight, please others take note this is how it should be done!! Hopefully time(work) permitting I will have it complete for the weekend. I feel a lot of coffee coming on!! Set-up will be YS-63 Rudder- HS-5475HS Ail- 2x HS-5245MG Elev- not decided on one or 2 HS-5245MG's Throttle- undecided(depends on 1 or 2 on elev) Will let you all know how it goes, cannot wait to get this plane into the air, can honestly say it's the best plane I have bought ever!! I have one big complaint though..... Why did I take so long to decide!! Happy Flying

RE: Groovy 50 3D
Hi Guys Dan, no I didn't look at the 3A, it was kind of an impulse buy(fliton freestyle was out of stock). Its sitting ready to fly have just been running the engine in. Fingers crossed i will get it in the air this week, but work has got me by the short and curlies. I'm not convinced about the elevator pushrod I am thinking of replacing it with something a bit better, but time will tell. Servo wise I have 2 Multiplex digitals(can't remember which) on elevator and rudder, JR DS8231's on ailerons and bog standard JR on throttle( may change this to digital if I think it needs it). nrthwing, Did you use the supplied elevator setup or another set up? I'm interested to know if this would be necessary. And the important question How did it fly? Cheers Rab

RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers
Hi Mike and All Fantastic thread, keep coming back to it. This is my first time getting into 3D in any serious way and all the hints and tips have been really useful. Have just got an aircraft ready to fly (world models Groovy 50, Ys 63) now all I need is some good weather and work to give me a break!. I have been using Aerofly Pro to try a few things out, and with your help and a lot of practice things are starting to come together. I'll throw in a few things that have been good for me with this sim. I tried starting off with the smaller models(hype etc.) but just couldn't seem to get into the mindset. I then switched to the large Extra and Giles, slowed the sim rate to about 50%. That way I could see what was happening and give me time to get the correct inputs in. Gradually speeding up the rates until 100% I found that you get comfortable with the aircraft in any position. I then switched back to the hype, and whaddaya know I can keep it in a hover/torque roll/harrier. Rolling harriers are next on the agenda having just got comfy with rolling circles( something I have had problems with for many years). When I finally get to try it out for real I'll let you know how I got on. Keep up the good work Happy flying!! Rab
