RE: Air Leaks...do you really need to seal your engine ?
ok here is the deal, bought a big red dynamite .28 and could not get it to stay running for crap. ok got on this forum and numerus people said to seal the engine: new engine i thought they were full of crap so i dun it WOW cranked it up and ran perfect i was amazed if i get a new motor i do that now just because it asures me its double sealed. i do agree with the other statements but if they had the problem i had and sealed it i think they might change their mind. as for hurtinging the engine well mines 3 years old and still runs fine, just a opinion my friend that i know works cuz ive been there

RE: im stuck .28 big red
installed the big red the other day finished breaking it in and and a little tuning and i hav a little firecracker. much difference in the power of the hpi 4.6 and this one, i like this big red it wheelys really good and with the 3 speed tranny i installed it has a top end speed out of this world, almost goes to fast to control, hard to believe there is a faster .28 thats stock out there, this thing has so much power it keeps ripping my tires off, and i hav tire glue. im taking it to the dirt track this weekend and doing a little showing off thanks to to the people on this forum

hpi 4.6 running fine and then?
hi all, i ran about 5 tanks of fuel in my hpi 4.6 engine i was out yesterday bashing and slung my nicads out of the body oops. went over and killed the engine by pinching the fuel line. got everything ready to bash again and when i went to start it with my pull start it was locking up, iremoved the glow plug and spun it over to clear it out and noticed that when the piston was at the top it was sticking like it did the 1st few time while i was breaking it in, withe the glow plug in it its harder than normal to crank i was wondering if something might hav happened to my engine or is this normal, i havent tried to start it yet i wanted to get sum opinions

RE: hpi 3savage 3 speed tranny
ok engine broke in and tuned, it wheelys off the line now so it has to be in 1st, dont hear the shift to second but hear it shift to 3rd. it must be shifting to second or 1st gear is 1 heca long gear gear. it must shift to second off the line really quick, im thinking it will prolly do about 50 top in. i hav a dynamite big red im going to put on it, from what i here it has more power than the hpi 4.6. i guess ill find out

hpi 3savage 3 speed tranny
hi all, i hav recently built the savage x ss, it came with the 2 speed tranny so i upgraded to the 3 speed, purchased the complete 3 speed tranny and installed it in my truck, question is when i run my truck i dont notice a shift from 1st to second but i hear it shift from 2nd to 3rd, it may just be me .seems like it takes off good but cant get a wheely yet im still breaking the engine in, after break-in and fine tuning maybe it will or could it possibly be taking off in second gear

RE: im stuck .28 big red
hey guys thanks a million, took the backplate off and low and behold the oil ring looks like a dog chewed on it, can i use only rtv on the backplate or do i need a oil ring to. this all makes since now because i kept noticing fuel on the frame under the rear of the engine. running my hpi 4.6 on my truck now its pretty fast but i bet the big red will make it look silly

RE: im stuck .28 big red
its a savage ss kit, tried new plug, same thing, exhaust is what came with it hpi brand, cant be the adjustment screws i hav had them in every position possible as far as a temp gun its pretty ovious after 1minute the engine overheats and it starts reviving and then dies i guess because the engine is tring to sieze up. i put the engine that came with it hpi 4.6 and it does fine, so there has to be something internally wrong with the big red, wish i could get the big red to run cause i want the power

RE: im stuck .28 big red
ok, 3rd tank of fuel and took a long time getting there, new 20 percent fuel , motor is new and i didnt hav to change anything on the engine, checked scews, checked oil rings on carb eveything looks good, fuel tank is new and appears to be sealing, this thing is pissing me off, runs fine when cold but when engine heats up it leans itself out and dies. ive ran it very rich and it still gets hot. i guess im the only one to get a junk big red. i guess ill hav to put the hpi 4.6 that came with the kit on it but i was wanting the power of the big red
