RE: New Monokote Technique
It has been a while since I have flown but it is nice to see this thread is still alive and kicking. When I made that video I never anticipated this much interest so Thank you for watching and I am glad if it was able to help. Plenty of gorgeous airplanes out there.

I have not been here in a while and glad to see this thread is still alive. Catracer WOW that looks gorgeous. And yeah it's sad to see that on the bottom of the wing unless you have something really cool planned for the top of it ;-)

How about the possibility of removing weight from the other side ? There are only two times you should ever add lead to an airplane 1: Bullets 2: Batteries

RE: New Monokote Technique
Ultra-cote should stick to the glass just fine for cutting. It's when you let it dry that the adhesive does not stick. If I remember though ultra-cote is a lower temp covering. So I would imagine that after you let the windex dry, when you use the heat gun to remove the press-n-seal it should stick just with the heat alone. Or make sure you get it toasty before pulling. Try it out and let us know. And thank you for the kind words.

RE: New Monokote Technique
What might work is when you go to remove the Press-n-Seal add a little extrea heat and go slow and it might be enough to get the Ultra-cote to stick before you go over it with an iron. It would be worth a try, I do not have any ultracote or i would be willing to give it a try.

RE: New Monokote Technique
I would have to agree with the above. Trim solvent should do the trick nicely. I am not sure what type of covering your removing but there have been times when I have used a heat gun to remove some trim the did not work out right, but left the colored adhesive behind. You have to keep going over it with a clean cloth or Q-tips but it should come off.

PA-18 about nailed it. I got all the graphics or at least the ideas for them from google images and searching tatoo sites. Often with me the idea for a covering scheme is wayyy different than what I originally started out to do.

RE: 55 AX Mid Range
I have also run the APC 13-4W and a XOAR 13-4 Same thing for each one. A little research from some others running this is suggesting just put the stock muffler back on. The deadrand is REALLY big almost to the point I was thinking it was a throttle rigging issue. But checked it and it's linier. I will try a bigger prop and tach it this time and get back to you here. Might be a day or two though.

55 AX Mid Range
Hello I have a 55 AX on a 3D Profile. I am running wildcat 15% Nitro with 18% castor syn blend. The engine has about 1 hour of runtime, starts wonderfully, never run lean, idles great and makes GOBS of power with an APC 12.25 -3.75. I am also running a MACS pipe. The problem that I am having is that the midrange is nonexistant. I have a good transition to full throttle, but there is a deadband which is I guess is the best way to describe it. Any suggestions ??

RE: Best profile for the OS 55 AX?
Well I have a 55AX on my PRIMO and it is a wonderful machine. I don't think you would have any problems bolting it on any of the 40 sized profiles there. OMP makes some really nice ones PRIMO MAIDEN

RE: How to cover fuel soaked wood?
All of those ideas will work OK but you will never get fuel soaked wood to be perfect, SO after you get out as much as you can make sure you overlap the covering 1/2" or so over itself. That I know it will stick to, and if possible try not to expose any edges to the slipstream, ie no edges hitting the air.

I am also an aircraft mechanic so I have almost too easy access to each of those chemicals, And I hate using all of them. I am curious though to see how well it will work on ultracote. Too bad I don't have any around.

RE: New Monokote Technique
Trim solvent is a HIGHLY agrresive version of windex. if you rub an almost invisible layer and stick some monokote to it it is there to stay. So the downside is that you only have one shot. Other down side is if you use too much then the colors will just wash away. You did bring up a good point. I will make another vid describing how. But in short to answer your question you just run a moist Q-tip across the edge.

RE: New Monokote Technique
XYLENE Huh ??? That would be useful to experiment with as the windex does not work with ultracoat. Down side is Xylene is nasty stuff. I use trim solvent very sparingly cause it is really easy to use too much and wash away the color and the adhesive leaving a clear piece of plastic !!!

RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
ORIGINAL: outacontrol41 Guys, the last few posts have me curious about your flying skills. I love the Twist and own three. I wrecked my first two .40 sizers learning and now I'm a much better pilot with my .60 and about to upgrade to the 1.50 size. One thing kerwin50 points out is they're (3D profile planes) ugly. Well said. You can bash H9 and the Twists all you want, but they make all 3D profile planes look like POS when compared sise by side. Furthermore....if you're banging your Twist tail against the ground, either punch the throttle to avoid that matter or learn how to 3D properly! If you need a nice soft padded foam profile plane to compensate for your questionable flying skills then by all means get the softest thing available that you can't hurt. Us real men (and women) have the skills to fly something made of balsa and not be afraid to break it. Nothing against soft skinned profile planes, I'm not countering your statements by bashing them, but the Twists, Funtanas and the like RULE the day. Don't believe me? Look at the long threads thriving about them on this forum. Happy Halloween.[:)]
Your kidding right ??? You have to be. Is there a link to any videos of a Twist, Funtana or the like being wrung out ??

I am running into an issue with the landing gear setup. There are two laser cut supports that go between the landing gear pieces. Problem is the pictures only show one, AND they both extend past the gear axle hole. Was this a later change? and do I have to cut to fit ? DO I use both supports? any help would be appreciated. Thanks
