RE: Airpower EV-5U-A problems
ORIGINAL: hpais We installed one in a CARF Tucano and it's loosing its programming after a power reset. We are programming it for Mode 2. If I cycle power immediately, it retains the programming. However if I cycle the power after half an hour it goes back to Mode 1. Am I doing something wrong or is the valve bad? Thanks, Hermann
Herman, Is this the EV5U or the EV5U-PRO version. With over 500 Pro units and 400 standard EV5U units out in the market already (from us directly), I am not surprised to see a few defects. Many of the "Issues" being reported have nothing to do with the valve but defective cylinders leaking. It's the electronic issues that concern me! So far, the most common defect seems to be the pressure sensor going bad, I will discuss this with Airpower. The rest have been random issues that dont appear to be failing in any volume. Todd

RE: EVSD-5U-Pro Multi Valve Weirdness
ORIGINAL: smaze17 So here's the issue - everything was working fine on mode 2 for the maiden flight. Then, after take-off the gear got hung up on the doors (F-86), then went into failsafe. Landed fine and went to check everything out. The gear went into failsafe even with the pressure reading 98 PSI!!! So, the system holds air perfectly but the gear does absolutely nothing now even after a re-set. The strange thing is the GSF is blinking like there should be less than 50 PSI in the system but it reads 100 PSI!! Just don't get it. Maybe some sort of failure in the unit? Thanks in advance for the help! Spence
Hmmm... This is a first for me! Better give me a call on this so we can discuss! Todd

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
ORIGINAL: Socomon I messed around with it some more. As best I can tell, the pulses (at least on the Airpower valve) seem to be equal segements of on/off. It seems like the faster you pulse it, the less likely they are to lock up, but I am not sure you actually get harder braking. It seems more like anti-lock braking then truely proportional branking. It would be useful if one position in the proportional braking program was full on - so you could lock them on for turbine start-up. I think I am going to have to use a slider as weel, becuase I can't seem to get the down-elevator mix to work right with the valve in proportional mode.
The Airpower and Jettronic single action valve pulses for proportional braking, the faster the pulse, the more brake being applied. These valves pulse with the when the signal is in the 11% to 89% range and are full off below 10% stick and full on above 90%. Make sure your brake ATV is set to 100% in both directions to achieve full on braking.

dont grease up airpower brakes!!!! Use a proportional valve with them.... They are not like the O-Ring style brakes and lubing them is NOT a good idea...

RE: Skymaster 1/6.5 F-86 Gear Doors using 5 Function Multi Valve Pro
No additional valves needed for Mode 2 Operation (Doors closed, gear down). Just set the sequencer to mode 2, then adjust timing... it's that simple. For mode 3 (some doors closed, others open) one additional dual action valve is required. Just set the sequencer to mode 3, adjust timing. To Accomplish Mode 3 with Ultra Precision valves, you will require the UP2 and UP4 valves, one servo. Just give me a ring if you run into any programing issues Spence! Todd

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
ORIGINAL: Socomon Thanks Wayne. I wonder if there any any flush mount fitting that are not prone to creating a syphon as Mike described when mounted under the fuselage. has anyone ever tried any of the Jersey Modeler fuel port / vent fittings? http://www.jerseymodeler.com/id29.html I was considering using their fuel dot since it is made to work with the probe on the end of their fueler. RE: Black Smoke???
I need the system to operate in the same manner we use our smoke systems with similar efficiency. I simply need an additive (or fluid) that will provide a dense black smoke.

RE: Digital air gauges??
We tested several of the Airpower units pulled randomly from inventory, all were within +/- 5psi of actual pressure. Two standard SMC gauges weigh in at .8oz or 20gr, the Airpower dual digital unit is 1.4oz or 35gr. Todd

RE: Black Smoke???
The application is for a Drone, not an RC model; but it is turbine powered so our smoke systems would be applicable. No tail pipe to worry about and not really concerned with something a bit "messy", just need a fluid that will produce black smoke. It is a requirement being dictated by the customer, just need a solution that works.

RE: Nano Quick Build.....
Steve, No problems with the balance, used two 4300mah LiIon packs (rx and ecu) in the nose and balance was dead on. I have not measured the current draw on the digital air gauge but since it has no valves, I would imagine the draw is minimal. Trying to get Airpower to include the male to male lead with the unit. No problems with the unit on A123 packs. Pete, correct, I do not use onboard propane, try to eliminate potential fire hazards as much as possible. Jascat, I am using the Jettronic low loss brake valve which is similar in configuration to the dual action unit.
