RE: Futaba FASST feedback and TESTING
Hi Paul, hi Guys, One more positive first time FASST experience: the weekend before last I finally migrated my Stork II pro F3J thermal sailplane to the R608FS - why I waited 3/4 year to install the new gear I'll never know! During the 4th flight (79 min.) the 3.2m/126" Stork topped 800m/2,625 ft. several times according to the Picolario Talk vario I'd installed for "insurance", the RF link was always perfect! Last weekend the Stork stayed aloft for 66 minutes under challenging, weak lift conditions. IMHO the difference between the PCM1024 I had been using and the R608FS's 2048-bit resolution made the flying noticeably easier due to the "tighter" connection between model & pilot. Can't wait to install my 2nd R608FS in my F3F Skorpion DSL!!! One quick question, my impression is that 14MZ voltage/remaining battery capacity stays stable for a really long time with the TM-14 2.4 GHz module and then drops extremely rapidly. Last night it went from 29% to 19% within 5 minutes. Is this a common observation and is there a fix? The batteries (2x) are original Futaba, 2 respectively 3 years old and have been used about 75 hours in total. Thanks, Martin

RE: Major Glitch in a Futaba SS system!!
ORIGINAL: Dick T. Germany is probably the most strict of all due to their protectionist attitude. That may be the case in Germany as a route taken by the distributor for reasons known only to them (small volume, consumer laws, etc).
Hi Dick, Alleged factors like "protectionist attitude", small volume, consumer laws and the like have nothing to do with the robbe FASST recall here in Germany, it's simply a matter of market position and customer orientation. Graupner/JR is the dominant vendor in continental Europe, all the more so in German-speaking countries. With the introduction of the Futaba T14/FX-40, robbe finally had an extremely competitive product that could not be matched by the competition and they have been gaining share ever since. The robbe recall is IMHO an important step to ensure a satisfactory outcome for an affected and potentially disgruntled customer base and to maintain trust in the Futaba brand. Not to mention that it too willl enable robbe/Futaba to continue building market share. [;)] Do you recall how McNeil acted during the Tylenol poisioning scare in the 80's or Audi with the unintended acceleration issue, both proved that it's better to be proactive as robbe is rather than to sit on the fence as Hobbico seems to be doing. [:o] Best regards, Martin
