RE: 150% enlarged WingontheWeb HO-229
Didn't see you had selected fans yet. The CS fans look nice, but they have had prouction problems where the blade material has been inconsistent. If you get good ones they will be fine at 2000-2500 watts. People have been blowing them up over 3000 watts. Recommend inrunner motors so that the motor is supported by the whole length of the motor tube on the shroud. Outrunners just hang off the front and can crack the mount letting the fan hit the shroud leading to shrapnel! [X(] HET fans are only $49 and work great. They don't sound that great.

RE: 150% enlarged WingontheWeb HO-229
Thomas what about my HE-162. I think it is pretty unusual. :) Recommend that you try HET 90mm fans with about 1400kv on 8s. I have the 700-60-1485 in my little MIG-15 and really moves out with that setup. ~2500W. Cheap and simple. Forget 6S too many amps. 8s you can stay with the CC ICE 100 and it works great. Ross

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito 81
I understand it isn't an electric powered plane. Those batteries wouldn't even get it to taxi! Just saying that the small AA sized NIMH are not very good batteries. Even under load from a couple of digital servos or multiple regular servos they can't hold voltage well and can cause brownouts. The short fat cells are much better. Well I don't like any NIMH because I have had too many problems with them false peaking but that is another story.

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito 81
Recommend you stay away from the AA sized NIMH for flight packs. They have way too high internal resistance and will sag under load. They do make pretty good TX packs.

FYI JR does have the micro servos in HV DS-285 and DS-287. Hitec also has a mid or mini servo in HV.

I have 4 micro digitals on the flaps and ailerons on my MIG-15. They make alot of noise but are working great so far, maybe 20 flights. Only negative was their tech support said the micros wouldn't hold up to a 2S life or liion without a regulator.

RE: Jetcat P20 SE - what airframe?
The fiberglass 90mm MIG-15 from hobbyking is a nice flying airplane. I believe BIGPLUMBS did a conversion. I fly mine with a 90mm HET fan and use the 15-25 eflite gear. It's alittle more head scratching to get it built than the Habu but it flys really nice and it works from a grass field.

RE: whats best for Jetcat P20
How about the Pro design MIG-15 or the Hawker Hunter. I have the MIG-15 on a HET 90mm fan and it really flies nicely probably better than the Habu 32, which I also have. Think big plumbs flew one on a P-20. HK sells the airframes for about $180. Not the same fit and finish of the Eflite kits but they are pretty good.

RE: xps fan in bvm sabre 60
Look for a BVM EVF fan. The inlet area on the F-86 is tiny. The dynamax has a bigger FSA and larger in diameter. You are going to have less efficiency and even tighter fit for the batteries and everything else in the plane. If you have to use the XPS fan you can cut the BVM ducting off a few inches and make a truncated cone to connect the stock ducting with the XPS fan. Then just roll a new exhaust duct from mylar that will fit the fan and the outlet. If the plane already has the fiberglass rear ducting you will have to cut it out.

RE: servos for pro desighn mig-15
I used HS-65 servos for ailerons, flaps, rudder and nose wheel steering. The HS-81s are good servos but will be too big. The elevators I used 2 spektrum A3020 servos as they need to be very thin.

RE: HE-162 Group Build
I have a couple of flights on mine with an EDF dynamax. It flys great. There are pitch changes with throttle but it is manageable. It does struggle to get the nose up on a full throttle go around but in the circuit it is easy to fly. Mine is really squirrely on the ground but I think I just have too much expo. By the time any correction is apparent I am already over correcting. Also it really doesn't want to rotate without flaps on takeoff. Mine is close to 20lbs with the batteries and the CJM gear is struggling with the weight in the upper flanges. Might switch the mains out to Robart 630 and reuse the CJM struts. I do need to replumb the whole plane as there are many leaks in the gear door cylinders and the tee connections.

RE: Looking for A26 plans or kit
My Magnum 91 has been fairly reliable. Plenty of power on my TF AT-6. It has never quit in flight. It did break a valve spring once and it wouldn't come off idle but it kept running :) I have a Laser 150 that one valve spring broke next flight the other broke. Morale of the story is to always replace them in pairs!

RE: T&J Models  Gloster Meteor (short kit)(EDF Jet)
The 60-120 sized retracts are going to be huge. The 15-25 size are good to 7 pounds. The 25-46 size are good to 9 pounds. The plane should weigh less than 7 lbs according to TNJ Models. The 15-25 size retracts hold up fine on the HABU 32 which weighs just over 7 lbs. I'm interested in the plane as well. Wouldn't mind an earlier mk canopy.

RE: Just Scored a NIB TF GE AT6!!!
I have one with a Mangum 91 4st and I used the century jet retracts. The lower struts didn't hold up very well so I replaced them with the robart wire struts. The air mechanism have been very reliable. Forget the single ail servo and cut two hatches the same size as the flaps for dual aileron servos. Other than that mine is stock and flies nicely. It weighs about 10 3/4 lbs.

RE: HABU 32?
Get the fan that is designed for the plane. It is almost the same price $35 for the fan $75 for the motor. Less headaches and guesswork. The retracts will probably fit but the 3mm struts are a no go. The 3.5mm struts on the recommended gear are just right. They do bend on rough landings but hold up fine for normal use. I do recommend the Turnigy 6s 5000mah 40c packs for the Habu. My two are working great.

RE: Bates 106
Sam, I need to slow your build down since I have a framed up B-26 myself that I just can't get to the front of the line. Anyway. The pan and tilt mechanism. Just mount the servo offset in the fuse and mount the center of your turret floor on the center of the bottom output gear. Glue the servo for the tilt mech to the floor and mount the guns to that. What radio are you using? 11x I think. Use one of the sliders for tilt and the rudder mixed to the turret. You could disable the mix when you bring up the gear.

RE: E-Flite Habu 32 EDF
You mentioned the Eflite 80 ESC's BEC not being up to the task. There was a product bulletin on the ESC a little while ago that basically said the BEC was no good in "high stress" applications. Mine would have crashed my HABU on the first flight. Every 2-3 minutes the BEC voltage would drop to nothing and reset the receiver driving everything hard over. There has since been a V2 put out to address the issue that most likely will work. I just used a Castle Creation BEC.

RE: What options do I have for building a large scale Bearcat?
Ziroli has an 86" bearcat and have offered a fiberglass fuse in the past. They don't seem to have it listed now. The easytiger bearcat is one of the better looking easytiger planes. I saw one fly many times at Warbirds over Delaware this year. It is not a kit but needs extensive work in the retract mounts to hold up. The easytiger retracts aren't worth getting. Bates also has an 80" set of plans. VICRC.COM has a fiberglass fuse for those plans. Good luck
