RE: Heng Long tanks using ball bearings?
14mmx8mmx4mm bearing fits over the driveshaft, take off the sproket slip it over the driveshaft until it touches the hull . ( yes you must also remove the fake outer gear cover) Get a 5mm thick piece of metal , aluminium , plastic , drill 14mm hole in it. You must also cut down the outer size so it fits inside fake gear cover. push down drive shaft over bearing. Fix this to hull side. now you need a thin piece of metal sheet alumin , plastic to same shape but only with an 8mm hole This goes onto the thick piece and holds bearing from escapeing, screw, glue in place. You will have no movement except turning of the sproket. This vastly helps with track throwing being greatly minimised.

RE: Idiot's Corner
I rode a pushbike to work when I was 17, used to start early in the morning (Dark). Well rode the 4 klm to work and just at the entrance to the factory , FELL ASLEEP, rode over a 7ft embankment summersalted upside down and woke up laying on my back in long grass, still seated on the bike which is now wheels skyward. The worst was trying to explain to the other workers how I ended up covered in grass and dirt.

RE: Easy fix HL suspension !
Thankyou for your reply, Perry S. The swing arms are drilled out to 6mm to suit the 6mm x30mm bolts that are now the axels. The bolts push thru the swing arms ,which rotate freely, the spring is added ,and then the bolt is screwed into the alum plate which is only 1.5 mm thick at that penetration point. once the bolt is screwed to the desired position a locking nut is applied to the bolt on the inside of the hull. This locking nut also has the desired effect of making the axles a neat 90% to the hull The aluminium plate has now got all the wieght and pressure transferred to itself. I will make new holes in the plastic hull sides to match the plates spring holes. The old dissused spring holes and travel limit holes will now be filled with bog or fibreglass. The gearboxes were so tight a fit that it almost had me stop .There is just enough room, with the exception of the first axle locking nut , which I will need to either file or cut a round hole in the side of the gear box, probably both. I will also need the longer drive shaft of the bulldog gearboxes the make up for moving the gearboxes in . altogther it hasnt been to hard. The aluminium plate was deliberately taken thru to the front so it can be used for a bearing insert for the driveshafts. Hope that cleared up your questions , anymore queries I am only to happy to answer.

RE: Easy fix HL suspension !
ORIGINAL: thedonut Agree with you that it works better with trailing arms. This is what I did to my Tiger but went about it differently. Check it out in the link below. There's an attached video showing the suspension at work. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6768080/anchors_6768080/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6768080
Yes thedonut, that was a good change. Simpler than what I'm doing here. I have lowered the axel attachment point as well, to as low as it can go. Its now in the proper position , were heng long could have put it. This means the swing arms travel more up and down rather than backwards forwards .The combination of switching the swing arms to point backwards and lowering the axle , spring , point as low as it can go on the hull gives you tamiya performance running gear. Not to mention the strengh of 6mm bolt axles. It also gives me a point to attach a bearing for the drive shaft , so it is solid as well. The whole effect gives a strong tank feel to the tiger.

RE: toy guns now illegal
YHR , I can now see why revolution happens , when there has been peace for to long without disturbance, the rule of law becomes to entangled and detailed as to rule your life in a bad way. There is nothing to stop the continued issuance of new regulations and they can only get more and more restrictive. Where does it stop !! Well the short answer is , when you have had enough and not before ! The scary part is ,are we like a frog in a boiling pot, never knowing when to opt out until to late.

RE: Easy fix HL suspension !
Ok , didnt mention , 11mm wide holes are 4mm deep into aluminium, you need 6mm but plastic sidewalls are 2mm , so 4mm deep into aliminium.

RE: Easy fix HL suspension !
You need 11mm holes for your original springs -32mm - (no less) apart from centre to centre, I am using new 30mmx 6mm bolts and drilling out to 6mm the new metal swing arms ( Plastic will work). I am also chamferring down the bolt heads on a lathe to bugger all ( you can file down if no lathe) so they fit inside road wheels. The aluminium is drilled to 5.5mm in the centre of the 11mm holes and then threaded to suit 6mm bolt. when bolt is screwed to exact position anut is applied to the inside hull position to lock axels in place, also assuring 90% to hull. I asure you all that it sounds harder than it is.

Easy fix HL suspension !
[8D] Myself and a friend have worked out a fix for heng long tiger 1 suspension. The original suspension is all forward, as in the suspesion arms. The end result is it all works better going backwards ?? We looked at this and it's not just that the swing arms are all forward ( yes WE know they are one forward one backward on the real one) but that they are located to high as well , were the axels go through. the solution is not expensive . You will need two 50mmx6mm x 340mm aluminium bar. cost me 20 aus dollars x4 . We re-alighned the holes for the springs so the swing arms would face backwards and were as [b][/b[b]]low as possable. They now act and look like tamiya suspension. It will now ride over a broom handle without raising the tank body , its all in the suspension. Very much improved. I have some pics Hope they join on.

RE: My Tiger 1 keeps throwing treads!
Wow where do i start , Tracks to loose , more likely to much movement on the drive sproket- does it move when wiggled with yoiur hand. Make sure you have no loose track pins. There will be a reason as they dont throw tracks for no reason. the fix for loose drive sproket is to look closely at your gearbox , it can be tightened up there or you can add a piece of aluminium on the outside of the hull with a 8mm hole in it for the drive shaft, screw or glue it on after popping off the fake gear cover on the outside . RE: The Shermans are in at Mato
Well , the bubble of invinceability has burst and reality has set in. I am a bit disapointed too . Lets not all throw it out the window just yet, we need to take stock of everything that needs fixing . Then we look at what we CAN FIX. Swathdriver already made the better suspension That Mato rejected.( John West just came to mind ? hmmm) So he may be able to help us work something out. (Nice pics too Swathdriver, I saved them) Does (Swathdriver) have pics of the work he did or are they commercially sensitive and cannot be shared. I'm dealing with aplastics injection moulder for a product that my company is making and I know the costs involved are not impossable to deal with if we wanted to produce a new suspension system as a addon for you blokes. ?

RE: Diode brake/bridge??
I did it , so did lots of others and it was cheap ,easy , but it was a thing of its time . when henglong brought out there first tanks they went like rockets. This worked ok to slow them down.Since henglong started to improve things with smoke and sound boards and 10 proportional speed settings it wasnt as needed and people stopped doing it

RE: what real tank would you buy?
Brengun carriers are around here in OZ and not totally rare. They were very useful for farm vehicles so survived the end of the war and avoided scrapping. I fancy a scorpion myself but I see you can get de-militarised T72's for 50,000 pounds .Now that would be cool !! T55's are also available and much cheaper. Here in oz they are getting rid of there leopard 1's . One of those would be awesome. Ive also seriously considered getting a m113 and pimping out the inside, Ive seen one done and that was very nice. You know , a bar and leather padded seats mirrors, sterio etc

[;)] The opportunity may present itself in the very near future, that i might be able to buy a real tank, so the question is ,what would YOU do? The types of vehicles are limited to what is available today on the second hand market ?

RE: RCCOMMAND
I feel I need to state that I have dealt with Bills business and found it to be professional and responsive, as well, a friend of mine has also had the same good service. If all we are talking about is a delay of 4 days, then really ,Quite frankly , get a life. Thats without any tradgedy involved, which then adds a dimension that means, we learn more about his customers than Bill. Not everyone is nice. Suck it up sunshine , you"ll live. Sorry Bill , its your business and I should leave it for you to do but ? well we arent all aliens , some of us are human too.
