RE: Replacement for old Futaba Skysport 4 t4vf ??
Thanks fellas , you have been very helpful. I have looked at the Hobby King radio(2.4) and will give it a try as you cant beat the price. Later will look at a more descent set. I have just tried a loner off my mate ..... a Turnigy9x and it has button trim too which works( not my favourite) It runs it quite well. Thanks for all the posts ....... I'm a happy tanker...... well.... will be when my battery finishes charging LOL. PS........ the radio sets are getting cheaper these days. Doesnt cost an arm and a leg for a descent one. Tony from oz

Replacement for old Futaba Skysport 4 t4vf ??
I have an old Tamiya king tiger running Futaba skysport T4VF Transmitter and FP-R115F reciever in 36mhz. What could I replace it with , any suggestions. I would be happy to upgrade the number of channels as it only has 4. I'm sure someone here has done it. Originally I was simply going to replace it with the same (it is not working well) but it is getting old and not so easy to find a replacement. !! TONY

RE: Tamiya king tiger running prob's
Thanyou fellas , I appreciate your help.I should have mentioned that I had tried the stick swap thing with exactly the same result- I just wasnt sure which did what (mf-dmd) I will buy new DMD. I gather this is an unusual failure. Just my luck hey.

Tamiya king tiger running prob's
I need some advice, my Tamiya king tiger is not turning. It will run forwards or backwards and all other functions seem normal. I have tried resetting the transmitter but it seems to be just the turning function is shot. I believe the problem is with either the DMD or the MF unit. Problem is -and my question is- which one does what or rather which one needs replacing ?. Thankyou for your help.

RE: Sturmpanzerwagen A7V ??
I really think it would be easier to scratchbuild than convert, not something I would normally say. It has slab sides to it , and looks rather easy to do. It would have to move slow as a snail ( literally), but wouldnt it be interesting seeing all those guns shooting and moving ??? I live an hour and a half away from mephisto ( it's in Brisbane) and have seen it. I am glad it is in a glass enclosure as it is well protected.Fitting for a one of a kind. It is a surprisingly moving sight when you are there. You dont have to go in the museum to see it either as it faces the outside , like a shop window.

RE: The Real Mato Metal Hull
I think they should have thought a bit more about an exact copy?. I would take the rear end and mud flaps for sure as that gets bumped a bit with my poor driving.

RE: Unique 1/16 items from Germany
If you want corrugated iron sheets try looking for food tins with the rolled ridges around the middle, weve been using that successfully for a while . It even rusts nice.

RE: Replicating Full Size Tank Steering/Driving
I believe Tiger tanks often used nuetral steer when aiming , to speed the process up as turret traverse was slow.

RE: Hobby Engine M1 A1 modified Aussie - to the max
There does appear to be some interest in a 1/16 abrams . It would be nice to see one come out , that requires less modification and has decent electronics. OH , by the way my friend is going to use elmod in this tank. Under the turret it has a system of photo etched rings, to make electrical contact between turret and hull . This makes the turret free to spin with no tangles. He has made his own decals, the ration boxes are simply a picture printed on thin card and folded.Someone said he would have some things to share and I believe thats true , if I can only get him here. Some things he's done seem so difficult but I know they werent, nor were they expensive. The Hobby Engine tank is a good basis for a start, but to get all the way takes time and lots of modifying. Not for the begginer.

RE: Hobby Engine M1 A1 modified Aussie - to the max
ORIGINAL: sir_francis So this australian M1A1 are more advanced than M1A2? Or I missunderstood? Becouse It looks strange. By the way I knowed some abrams had to be shipped to australian army but I never got confirm It ever happened?! Here are some other pics of same camo but no more. http://hsfeatures.com/aussieabramsdj_1.htm
Yes Sir francis , the australian army recieved 59 abrams and the colour scheme is now official. They were stripped back to shells and rebuilt to the latest standard, with some aussie mods incorporated. Thankyou for all the kind comments, I will pass them on .

Hobby Engine M1 A1 modified Aussie - to the max
My best friend has done a job and a half on an Hobby Engine Abrams. I have tried to get him to post here but he's a bit shy.He has turned out an Australian Abrams. They are the latest versions of this tank , making use of all the lessons from Iraq. They also have some purely aussie mods , that the US army are looking at to adopt.

RE: Gun Possibility?
I have often thought about using compressed air to run the gun . The reason being, it could also work the recoil much like a real gun. Also you get a blow out effect at the end of the barrell. ( Add a little talc, graphite.)

RE: found a sherman i
Nothing like a lost tank to get the forum going. So who owns it ???? If its the government, there 's a chance to get it cheap for restoration. A good clean and a paint would stop furthur corrosion.

RE: found a sherman i
Even in the state its in, it would still be worth thousands of dollars. I cant imagine no-one owns it. Maybe they are no longer interested in it and would sell it.( cheap) I am sure you would find enough people here that would be interested in restoring it.

Half an hours work with styrene - tops. Probably one of the easiest mods to do.I would recommend even begginers to try it.

RE: How much longer till the new HLs come out!?
dedmonwakin , not a bad idea , but to get everyone working on one project volunterily is a difficult ask. It is not a huge task to scratchbuild , say a marder and do scale 1/1 scale drawings of all the parts for the build. The thing I see is some parts would need to be cast or lathed and not everyone can do that. It is easy to distribute drawings. Frankly , tracks for the build if not already available would be a huge pain.

RE: Learning something new...
Very good for your first go, you are doing fine . Ive been doing it for years and I see you have got the basics right. You seem to have basic mastery of your airbrush next is to refine the technique's of shading , copying camo off pics etc Keep listening to the advice of the blokes here and you will soon be an awesome airbrush painter. You obviously have some natural talent for this.

RE: Heng Long tanks in Robotics
Wow , biggest pics I've seen posted here. Didnt know you could put such big ones in. What we have been in dire need of on this forum is some electronics experts, most people here love modifying thier tanks, but lack the knowhow when it comes to electronics. Sound that can be modified and adding extra movable features etc would be great. For you tank battlers what if your tank could detect and shoot other tanks autonomously? I see posabilities
