FUTABA GY520
I am new to this heli sport and a little confused. I just purchased a GY520 gyro and it didn't come with any leads. The way it looks to me is, that you need two special leads with male connectors on both ends. One for the Gain and the other to go to the rudder channel. I've looked at the manual and can't see any other way to connect can someone straighten me out. Am I looking at it right. Thanks Joe

Instrument Housings
I had some housings that the instrument decal went into and then the housing could be mounted to your instrument panel(they looked pretty good). I have no idea where I got them and can't find anything on the internet. Has anyone seen what I'm talking about and could steer me in the right dirrection to find some????? Thanks Joe

Hello Marcus and welcome to the thread Greg, It's been a whie since I've posted anything. I haven't been feeling well enough to work on my plane so consequently nothing to post. However, I have continued to whatch the forum and enjoying anything that was put on. Now to my question for Marcus or anyone else that my have a photo of the knob on the luggage compartment. I have put in the luggage compartment and using it to hide switches and anything else that will fit and not screw up the balance. thanks in advance if someone has it available. RE: What is a good beginner kit?
Hello: I disagree with all the talk about the cub, in my opinion not a good plane to learn to fly. The cub would be a good experience to build but that's it. My choice would be a Balsa USA Swizzle Stix. It can be built as a tail dragger or nose gear up to what you want. After that, building is fairly easy and it flys great. In no way as sensitive as the cub. I've had two (2) of these over the yrs. and they'll take a real whipp-in. One of the best trainers out there. I had a Super Tigre 45 on mine. Just my opinion. Have a good day

Hello Vox: Very nice work, I'm currently building a Hostetler 33% SD and wow your construction is so much different than this. Yours appears to be very much true scale. At this point do you have any idea (ball park) what the composite kit will sell for? I'm watching this forum with a lot of interest. thanks Joe

Hello Marcus, Where the heck you been, your the man that keeps this thread going! Have you finished "your"(the gray and blue one) SD yet? You said the clear kote would be done a few days backs. I've been making fairly good progress on mine but forget to take the camera out to the shop. One of these days. Next on to the wings everything else is built but not finished. Mine objective was to move the thread back to the beginning and maybe spark someone elase to chime in. Hello to all, Joe

Hello Tom and Ken, I thought about bending the wire or putting a set collar on the end of the wire earlier in the building process, but too late now without tearing apart. I saw what you are reffering to as I searched the thread. Well, I'm going to set all my worries aside and rough up the wires and epoxy them. Thanks Tom and Ken, Joe

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon
Hello Ken, My concern with the center section maybe unwarranted, the wires as I see it are the main structure in the strength of the center section and they are only glued in, if the glue fails the plane is history. I talked to Whendell and he assured me that he's never heard of a failure because of wire to glue fitigue. Did you you do anything special in this area to reinforce ? Thanks Joe

Hi guys, I read some place on this forum where one of the buuilders was glassing the center section. They didn't go into much detail and I can't find it again. Anyone with info about this please respond, the wing center section just doesn't seem strong enough to me. Thanks Joe

Thanks Marcus, I think because the cabin area in the Hostetler design (cabin not as tall as yours)there is not room for the tank under the seat. Now, I haven't really tried to fit yet it but doesn't look to be enough room. Unfortunately progress has been slow lately. Joe
