RE: Return of Lunchbox..
HELP! well after the first two batteries i have had the pinion grub screw loosen off and now the servo screw fall out GRRRRRRR! time for some loctite? also how long do you get on a stock lunchbox with a 3000mah battery? my lunchbox feels ssssssssoooooooooo ssssssslllllooooooowwwwwww. i mean really slow. it lacks punch off the line, and feels like a cheap nicco store car barely able to get through the grass. do the nimh batteries get better with age/use?? (duratrax onyx 3000mah.)

RE: URGENT HELP! Hobbyking 6s NIMH CHARGING
ORIGINAL: cumquat set it to nimh, plug in the battery and do what the instructions say to start the charge process. dont mess with discharge, that is useless for you. the car does that well enough.
thats the problem..the instructions are just about useless. it talks all about Lipos and nothing about Nimh. for instance charge rates/ mv drop settings or how to set MAH limits etc etc. so far i have it set to 2.4A charge. 5ma drop off and 3300mah cutoff. discharging to 6.0volts before charging te first battery i have just doesnt seem to have any punch. its running in a Tamiya lunchbox which guys say should be a wheelie machine for half an hour with that capacity battery but it is just a slug.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
NEARLY DONE! just about ready! all i have to do is make up the body mounts and setup the steering geometry and a few cosmetic things like custom licence plate. third shock all mounted. Front shock and rear tray braces all fitted up and the wheelie bar brace...made from 3mm stainless threaded rod. you can also see my custom gear plate for the radio gear. i just cut down the two "towers" that were used to hold up the mech speed control and bolted the plate to the bottom of the chassis. I may swap it out for a plastic one if i get glitches. enjoy the pics.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I got the onyx 3000mah nimh pack. Probably better than the nicad batteries. Lunchboxes need a bit of weight in them so the nimh is a better choice.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
finally got my parts from tower today. built up most of the kit. just have to make up the wheelie bar brace and mount the 3rd shock. then ill give it a test run... the body is a work of art for me who hasnt held a paintbrush in anger in 20 years. :) i went with a yellow ovr white paint shceme. i think the rears are too stiff though. may put in some old losi springs and see how they go. my 5 year old wont beleive his eyes on his birthday! cant wait to april 1st so i can drive it. (i mean give him some instructions on how to drive it) hehe.

Holy VW camber Batman! I think 85 rear and 78-80 fronts is the way to go. I have a set of both coming so will mix and match them, what I dont use eill go on my jrx2 basher.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
my biggest concern with the shorter 78mm shocks is the lack of travel. its the travel thats most important. the problem i see with using the 85mm shocks is that if you pack them down shorter, you only end up with about 1/2" of travel. at least the 78mm will retain a bit more travel than a shimmed 85mm one. i will probably run 85mm in the rear though. whats the stock travel of a standard friction damper?? hopefully my du bro ball ends and bearings will arrive tomorrow so i can make up the braces and assemble the gearbox.

RE: Clearcoat over stickers??
No you dont. The lunchbox has a hard body that you paint on the outside. Not a lexan one. Thats why I was asking about clearcots

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
well after a quick measure up of the fornt end it seems the 85mm shocks will be too long and 75mm is the best bet.. any suggestions? i just bought a heap of bits for chassis strengthening (du bro ball ends and 3mm stainless rod for strutt and rear end and wheelie bar braces. just need to get these shocks sorted... any suggestions?
